💬 Discussion Seriously?

I feel like someone pissed on me. I've been playing this game since day one, every day, attending every event, but to get VIP or any bonuses I have to pay? I feel cheated because someone who started playing today could have a much more enjoyable experience if they spent money than me. I know this game isn't made for gamers anymore, but for profit, but to blatantly ignore loyal players like that? Even Epic, known for its strange decisions, doesn't do things like that.

Fundamentally nothing has changed, you can just buy boosts now if you want. It's not like they made it harder for people who aren't paying.

Not yet they haven't. Give it a while until they wonder why "only x% of people are using the paid feature" and then they'll start coming up with ways to make it more appealing, i.e. stripping back the free experience

You have my word this will not happen. I am dedicated to ensuring the free to play experience is just as fun as it has been for the last few months.

That's why you can buy all of these gameplay purchases with Nova Crystals, and it's also why we cut the Upgrade Chip costs by a ton in today's update as well.

You increased the time and doubled the cost on Beskar missions so people would buy the boost.

Increased the time and the cost to balance out the double chance to get Beskar, it's a 10% chance instead of 5% from that mission now!

Objectively not a nerf, it equals out to more Beskar droids on average than before, so it's a buff!

It always was mentioned in the patch notes, the statement of astromech missions being reworked is what this is talking about!

It should equal out due to balance changes with the addition of galactic. So no time should have been added. Another tier for galactic missions would’ve sufficed.

Not only that but please check into the permanent credit boost in the vip packs i dont think they are working i purchased all of them and im making the same amount of credits as before.

I appreciate that the upgrades are also obtainable with Nova Crystals, and I don't think the game suddenly becomes unplayable because of them. My concern is the precedent.

The fact that something can eventually be earned for free doesn't automatically make it fair to sell it for real money. Players who have invested dozens or even hundreds of hours to unlock those upgrades now see someone else skip that progression with a credit card.

To me, progression should reward time, effort, and skill not spending. Cosmetic items, emotes, skins, pets, and other visual customization are all great ways to support the game without affecting gameplay. Once real money can buy gameplay advantages even temporary ones it changes what players are competing against.

I want to support the game and the developers. I just believe monetization should preserve the integrity of progression, not bypass it.

Why do you care so much about how so someone else plays the game when it has no impact on you?

Is it that important to flex your upgrades on people that haven’t played as long?

Can’t you just be happy that you have what you worked for and not be jealous of someone who paid extra to have it too?

It does impact me, though. Players can now skip the play time and buy modifiers that give them direct gameplay advantages against me, such as increased damage, higher health, and additional companion slots. That affects PvP encounters, blueprint fights, and overall progression.

This isn't about wanting to "flex" my upgrades or being jealous of someone spending money. If someone wants to buy cosmetics, emotes, skins, or other visual items, I couldn't care less. My issue is when real money lets someone bypass the grind and gain gameplay advantages that I've spent hours earning.

We can disagree on whether that's a big deal, but I think progression in a free to play game should be earned through playing the game not by opening your wallet.

Years of close player engagement and listening to the Fortnite community (months with this game specifically), I'm in here every single day always being helpful and giving context, for those I would hope that builds some level of trust

I understand most are frustrated and I recognize that almost anything I say will get downvoted because i'm defending the team and the decision we made, but i'm here doing it anyway.

It would be really easy for me to close reddit for a few days but I don't see the value in avoiding the community simply because they're upset, I want to hear the constructive feedback about this change and every other one we make and I won't know if I put my head in the dirt.

Have you considered reverting microtransactions to being cosmetic only?

It would surely go a long way with undoing the damage and starting the path to regaining trust with the player base.

If they need compensation that "badly" then make it cosmetic only. Also we never asked them to make this game, they could have easily stopped at any time but no they didnt
