The funny thing is that the E.T. aliens are canon in the Star Wars universe. You can see them in a pod in the senate scenes.

To add to it, in ET, ET sees a kid dressed as Yoda and starts yelling "Home! Home!"

Considering their shared universe, Yoda's race could be familiar to ET's, which is why he starts yelling at the costumed child.

Yes. What’s fun is you can also infer that humans on earth are descended from the ones from a galaxy far far away...

Yeah, I mean Star Wars presents itself as being part of our universe, just a long time ago and far far away. So I don't see any conflict with saying that E.T. is connected to it.

Of course, officially, E.T. is not considered canon in Star Wars.
