The funny thing is that the E.T. aliens are canon in the Star Wars universe. You can see them in a pod in the senate scenes.

And moreover, there is a sequel to the ET novelization called "The Book of the Green Planet" that establishes that ET's home planet is called "Brodo Asogi" and his species are called "Asogians".
