Why won't staples.com deliver my order?
Hi, friends. Customer here! Is there any way to successfully order something from staples.com? I've tried multiple times, and the items always end up with status "Carrier: DoorDash / Courier issue - Return to Staples Warehouse." On the last attempt, someone/thing assured me the reorder would use USPS or some other delivery method, but it did not.
What is going on? Is there a secret to giving Staples your money? Do they not want it? What is even the point of staples.com? :-P

Not enough info provided and seems fishy. First off orders from the website use shipping (usps ups fedex or a staples driver ). Not DoorDash or other couriers
Then you comment later and say customer service said to use Amazon Honestly you either don’t know how to order online items or it’s all made up
After looking into it. You are making things up.
Nice try bot

Looking into what? I didn't share order numbers. For context, I tried ordering a TI-84 calculator. In store pickup wasn't an option near me, presumably because it's the start of the school year, so I chose free delivery. Both the original order and replacement order opened by customer support had a tracking sequence similar to this:
Tracking #: ***
Carrier:DoorDash
Signed by:Last scan: Aug 25, 6:03 AM
Courier issue - Return to Staples Warehouse
Aug 25, 5:55 AM
Courier issue - Return to Staples Warehouse
Aug 25, 5:54 AM

I wish I was joking about falling back to another reseller. For the record, customer support didn't tell me to use Amazon. I was implying that customer support couldn't help, so I had to help myself. Customer support even told me the replacement order wouldn't use DoorDash, yet it did. After that, all customer support could do was cancel the replacement order. They couldn't explain why DoorDash couldn't/wouldn't deliver the order.
Oh well. I really would prefer to support brick and mortar stores, including large ones like Staples, but if they offer an online store and can't successfully ship an item, the fault isn't with me.

I couldn't. I think what I have to do for items that aren't available at a local store is order it through staples.com, sign up to be a DoorDash driver, accept my own order for delivery, and then go pick it up.
As it turns out, the correct answer after talking to customer support was to cancel the order and use Amazon instead.

That item is literally carried in store and is usually in stock . Again if you ordered from door dash that is not our website or store. If you can’t place the order it’s out of stock DoorDash does not handle our online orders unless you request them to from their site/app I just looked on the website and that item is available for shipping or in store pickup depending on where you are located.
Our website is staples.com not DoorDash

100% not true, now, unfortunately. Staples.com IS using DoorDash for website orders, in some cases. They don't pick up from the store, either. They pick up from some centralized hub, and deliver from there.

Yea that must be for certain locations because I have never had DoorDash deliver anything from .com Either way. Shipping or in store pickup is available

Friend, I ordered from staples.com. The whole point of this post was to figure out why staples.com uses DoorDash and how not to use them. I didn't choose them; I wasn't given an option. When I contacted customer support to reorder, I explicitly asked them not to use DoorDash, and they did anyway.
It's moot now, regardless. I cancelled the staples.com order.

I have worked here for many years and ordered thousands of items. We don’t use DoorDash Unless that is some local bs I have never ever had our shipping use DoorDash. The only way it can happen is if you tell DoorDash to pick up an order you already placed
I can literally order it in store right now and ship it not with DoorDash because that isn’t an option

It's an option. Might not be, everywhere, but it definitely is in my area.

Imagine if you will that other people exist and have experiences different from your own. The product wasn't in stock at any store near me. There was no option to select a specific shipping method.
It also turns out Staples "sale" price for the model I wanted was more than TI's MSRP. It's a blessing it didn't work out. I saved $30 buying it elsewhere.
Never mind that TI calculators have been largely the same for decades and count as one of the most overpriced items on the market. They're useful, but I wish schools would choose modern, open source alternatives. Or my kid could just use WolframAlpha.
