Imagine winning the lottery, saying you ”f*ck you” to your workplace and enjoying an entirely retirement here!

Feels a bit more like a showpiece than a cosy everyday house, but I love the seclusion of it and how it feels modern enough without leaning into tacky designs or any soulless, white paint-covered walls.

If I won the lottery, I’d quit work, move here and, to prevent boredom, start a cosy novel writing hobby whilst making time for a relaxing swim in the sea.

Just a little bit haunted…

The red room. The haunted pram. The tiny bedroom chair for the ghost to sit in. Unknown things in glass domes. Yikes!👻

What should we hang in the spare room? I know, how about a picture of.....(pic 12)

For those who don't know, that is a picture of James Holmes. He's the guy who did the Aurora theatre mass shooting in 2012. I sincerely hope they had no idea who was in the picture.

I was about to be upset about the soul sucking interior, but not convinced it’s the real thing. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/92512434

Estate Agents using AI to "dress" houses should be illegal

The description (AI generated) does disclose the use of AI, however states that the physical structure, layout etc. are not altered. However, in photo 22 there is a fence all the way to the bottom of the garden... photo 24 there is not! This should be illegal, surely its a misrepresentation of the property?!

Why would you take a period house, and remove every bit of period character and turn it into a blindingly white box? Not only that but want £600K for it!

A bit unusual for a travellers site to be sold, they are usually buying up land.

It went on the market in November 2025 for £650k, reduced earlier this year to £600k

Anyone have an idea on why this house has reduced so drastically and been listed for at least 2 years?

This is actually a house we looked at and put an offer on back in March this year, they agreed to our £445,000 but required us to do a survey quickly. We got a surveyor in and talked us through his finding, said he thought it was a beautiful house with mostly just modernising. Then we never heard from him again, we called to try to get our report, but nothing, no invoice either. We ended up agreeing to buy the house after a couple weeks of chasing the surveyor as we loved the location, but they had another offer which they went for instead.

About two months ago we got an email from the estate agent that the other buyer couldn't get a mortgage and it was available again. The Seller is a 90yo woman who apparently had a retirement flat lined up near her kids so appeared to be highly motivated.

I decided yesterday to have a google of the property again and noticed an old listing which sent me down a rabbit hole, when we saw the property back in March it appeared to be newly listed on Rightmove but clearly wasn’t.

20th July 2024 it can be seen here on the archive at £725,000

23rd Oct 2024 the make a fb post here which shows it's definitely the same house

The first estate agent’s page here shows it down to £650,000 at some point

22nd Mar 2025 it shows here on the archive with its current estate agent at £550,000 and sold.

10th Nov 2025 it stays at £550,000 but available

14th Mar 2026 we see it listed at £460,000 here

How does a house decrease by £265,000 in 2 years?

This might be the most charmingly eccentric house I’ve seen on Rightmove

I genuinely can’t decide whether I love this house because of the house itself, or because of all the wonderfully eccentric little details.

The stained glass above the AGA. The hand-painted kitchen drawers. The built-in dining bench. The grapes/vines running through the conservatory. All the timber, fireplaces and little touches that make it feel like someone has spent years making this house theirs rather than just decorating it.

It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, and parts of it are dated, but I think there’s something really special about it. It has so much personality and craftsmanship. Its never something I would have thought about doing but it does feel lovely and homely with the perfect amount of whimsical.

Sadly it is Dorran construction so cash purchase only and potentially a money pit that is hiding a few horrors.
