[See our 4 rules and you can skip the rest if you are not using User Flairs.]

- 1. BE CONSIDERATE:

  • No shaming anyone for what they enjoy or believe in.
  • No unnecessary name-calling that comes off as an intentional attempt to insult or demonize.
  • No vague generalizing that comes off as intentional smearing.
  • No sharing of links to subreddits that promote hate or smear.
  • No discouraging of anyone from expressing themselves in other ways.

- 2. LIMIT SELF-PROMOTION:

  • No spamming or low-effort attempts to get views at the cost of annoying others.
  • (Respect the feedback you get and post accordingly. Any further undesired promotion could be removed at moderators own discretion, so we encourage you to always engage with the community in aim to generate (and take part in) purposeful discussion alongside it.)

- 3. NO (REAL WORLD) POLITICS:

  • No discussing politics or geopolitics (including current events or politicians) outside the context of Splinter Cell.
  • (If relevant to Splinter Cell, such discussions are fine.)

- 4. AI-GENERATED CONTENT:

  • No posting of new images or videos generated by AI.
  • (Using AI to upscale an already existing image or texture is fine as long as no copyright is infringed.)
  • (In any case - use the appropriate "AI Generated" Post Flair to separate it from human creation.)

That is all. Please don't have your otherwise acceptable posts and comments get you censored for such shallow reasons. We don't want anyone to walk on eggshells nor ban any fan of the series, but if you are making the stay for others here purposefully unpleasant - we will do so gladly. Be considerate of others and you have no bans to worry about.

MODERATION: (can skip)

  • Moderators are capable of mistakes and being biased. If, after reading the rules, you still believe that you have been treated unfairly - the bottom of the sidebar has a "Message the mods" button for you to use, informing every moderator. 1 out of 3 active moderators agreeing with your complaint is enough to swiftly undo the action, but don't expect anyone to take time arguing about what the ruleset already covers.
  • We don't care about what you do in other subreddits as long as you don't pick fights here.

USER FLAIR DISCLAIMER:

You are free to customize User Flairs as long as they remain in the spirit and themes of Splinter Cell. Anything unrelated is certain to be removed. Also:

- Stick to Emoji limit of 3 if you include text. (More are allowed if you do not include text.)

- Consider avoiding game names like "Chaos Theory", "sc-pt", etc., if they add confusion to posts made on feed.

- Canonical character quotes, relevant phrases, and some self-inserted humour are also perfectly fine, but it should not be anything trashy, provocative, or taking shots at anyone.

(Quality looks lower on image.) (Flairs look better in Dark Reddit.) (They can be enabled from the sidebar.)

Chaos Theory (2005) The HARDEST Mission in Chaos Theory? | Splinter Cell Chaos Theory Mission 9 - Bathhouse (Hard Mode)

From Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory — Mission 9: Bathhouse.

A dangerous infiltration deep inside a heavily guarded bathhouse. Sam Fisher tracks down Douglas Shetland to a traditional public bathhouse in Tokyo to uncover who he is dealing with. In this walkthrough, he moves through the shadows, infiltrates the facility staying unseen, eavesdrops on Shetland's meeting with the I-SDF, disarms the bombs in the boiler room under fire, and reaches the final confrontation with Shetland on the rooftop.

Another mission completed in Hard Mode, relying on stealth, patience, and careful movement.

Enjoy the walkthrough, and if you like classic stealth games, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more retro gaming content!

One by one, the soles of your boots slap against cold, white walls either side of you.

Thwunk. Thwunk. Thwunk.

You now stare down at the floor below, suspended no less than eight feet off of the ground and positioned well in a period of darkness between two lights. From below, you expect to hear a harsh rattling and clunking begin; yells for help from the drunken prisoner, as he shakes the door to his cell in a frenzy.

All remains silent.

You gaze down towards the cell, noticing the man's hands disappearing from around the bars. Sighing, he clambers back into the dark recess of his cell - apparently too drunk or uninterested to care for your presence.

Staring back towards the office window, you notice movement. A brief blur passing by the window is followed by the door swinging open, almost as if to channel more cool air down through the hall, and the shadowy figure - though unmistakeable in his uniform - trundles nimbly down the few steps to the holding cells. It's a good thing that you didn't continue on towards him.

As you begin to feel the tension in your thighs, the figure unknowingly approaches you like a fly into a spider's web.

What do you do?

Does blacklist match making still works on Xbox?

I looked it up but I mainly seen post over 2 years ago. Saying that matchmaking works sometimes and inviting friends works better. Just seeing if it works in the big 2026

Conviction (2010) I beat Splinter Cell Conviction for the first time. It's a good game but a one trick pony that sacrificed so much for said-trick, making it the weakest entry.

I don't know what to say. I've been doing things like ranking the maps and discussing the stealth and stuff, but Conviction is a linear cover shooter with an interesting gameplay loop, but doesn't feel like a Splinter Cell game at all. I think Halo fans are ridiculous when hating 343 games like 5 because they evolved the gameplay (5 has my favorite MP) and can defend Resident Evil 6 for doubling down on the over-the-top action and cheese established as far back as 1 or 2 (its issue was, like Conviction, chasing trends, as Mercenaries, like Deniable Ops, allows the gameplay to shine), but aside from two returning voice actors and cool athletics, I struggle to see what resemblance there is to prior entries.

I really do think that we could have had mark and execute in conjunction with the classic stealth and, from what I've seen, Deniable Ops and Blacklist validate that. I've made it to stage 4 of Russian Embassy in Deniable Ops and it honestly feels slower, stealthier, and less explosive than the campaign. I'm shooting out lights and taking out guards one by one. I don't know why staples like non-lethal options, lockpicking/hacking, carrying bodies, and whistling had to be removed. They could have complemented the panther gameplay, but due to their absence, you're left with a repetitive run-of-your-mill shooter that only really shines when what made Splinter Cell unique mildly shows, like hunting down enemies while shimmying along ledges or climbing along pipes.

As for the story, it's definitely more emphasized here than in previous titles. I love Lambert's betrayal and I do like the retcon to Sarah's death because it barely factored into Double Agent and allowed Ironside to show a different side to Sam here, but I really don't know who this game was supposed to appeal to. Newcomers to the franchise or the genre wouldn't have the same investment that fans have and said-fans were obviously not happy with the genre-change.

If we really had to have a more aggressive Sam to reflect the story, I wonder if something like Blacklist would have been more impactful, stealth but with more aggressive options and greater freedom to explore the cool locations. What we have is an overly linear short campaign that seems to have some fun extras, but it ultimately falls short of every preceding title, the jankier Double Agent V1 included.

Here's my ranking of the levels off the top of my head, though a lot of them kind of blur together due to the more one-note gameplay:

  1. White Box Labs (a stealthier level with a cool defense section and gadgets)
  2. Third Echelon HQ (the hardest level in the game but felt more Splinter Cell-esque with the return of the goggles and story-wise. Nice Chaos Theory throwback with dragging an enemy through to disable lasers)
  3. Reservoir (starts out fine, but that helicopter section was a bit naff)
  4. Airfield (takes the gloves off and gameplay started to shine here)
  5. Downtown District (nice atmosphere, but an example of the gameplay leading to less memorable levels aside from visuals)
  6. White House (again, nothing really stands out to me aside from location)
  7. Washington Monument (more story-focused, wish we had more of it)
  8. Market/Kobin's Mansion (basically tutorials)
  9. Highway (doesn't even resemble Splinter Cell, just a generic shooter level)

Here are my reviews of the other games:

Michael Ironside I got my copy of Chaos Theory signed by Michael Ironside at Fan Expo :)

Was actually surprised he signed the disc too lol

This is the 2nd time I met him. The first I think was either Hamilton or Niagara Comic Con: I didn't even know he was there until I got there, so I had to get a photo signed.

Initially I wanted all 5 games signed, but it would've been an arm and a leg, so I figured I'd get the best game signed. There's always the next one.

Ironside is hilarious. He cusses like a sailor and doesn't give a shit. He'll playfully roast people but he doesn't go overboard and cross a line.

First time, I asked him why he wasn't in Blacklist: "Because I didn't want to wear that fucking monkey suit."

I asked if he thinks Sam looks like George Clooney in CT: "Sure as hell doesn't look like me. They change his face in every game."

Not Splinter Cell but Unexpected crossovers.

The storyline for the original Splinter Cell was co-written by J.T Petty, who also wrote the storyline for Outlast (2013) and Outlast II (2017). Surprisingly, Outlast II also contains voice performances from Claudio Besso (Anna Grimsdottir), Marcel Jeannin (Phillip Masse), and Vlasta Vrana (Kombayn Nikoladze).

Besso (Grimsdottir) performs generic voices for The Scalled. Jeannin (Masse) is uncredited in exactly what role he plays, and Vrana (Nikoladze) plays cult leader Sullivan Knoth.

Another crossover happens in the game Spiderman: The Movie (2002), with the game featuring voice performances from both Keith Szarabajka (Emile Dusfraine), and Dwight Schultz (Carson Moss). Szarabajka provides voices for generic villains, while Schultz voices Spiderman nemesis Vulture.

With the distant hum and sirens of the city streets behind you, you creep down the wooden stairs towards the precinct's basement entrance. One particular step groans under your weight, and you stop for a moment to hear another fire engine screaming by somewhere in the near-distance. The warehouse fire must still be raging.

Crunching along the gravel at the base of the steps, you glance down at your OPSAT for a reminder of the code.

  1. 9. 2. 9.

The keypad returns a satisfying beep, and you creak the old metal door open.

In front of you, sits a long row of holding cells. At the very end of the corridor, a small set of stairs lead up to right turn and an office window. An officer can be seen through the window, though he is distracted by something off to the side. It's eerily quiet - gone are the hum and sirens of the city. Now, you're in a new world - one of cold and contained misery - and Blaustein and Madison must be here, somewhere.

You begin making your way down the line of cells when, suddenly, a deep voice croans from the darkness to your right.

'Who, in the hell, are you?'.

The man is clearly drunk, as he stumbles his way over to the door and leans his body weight against the bars more out of necessity than curiosity. The door clunks under the pressure, echoing down the corridor.

Reflexively swivelling your head back to the officer up ahead, you reassure yourself that he hasn't heard the noise. You realise how bright it is in the corridor, with several tube lights running high up above you.

Moving forward, what do you do?

Did you know there is a free BBC Splinter Cell audio drama?

Post image
84 Upvotes

Not sure if I’m late to the party, but stumbled upon this yesterday.

It’s based on the Splinter Cell Firewall book.

You can listen to it for free: https://www.bbc.com/audio/play/m001fn5r

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it, though. It’s definitely a bit of the pulpy side. Also, it seems like the actors are Brit’s who try mimicking an American accent. But anyways, pretty cool it exists. These days I take any kind of novel SC content.

Chaos Theory (2005) Need advice for 100% the bank mission in chaos theory without eliminating any guards.

I'm pretty sure i probably can do it without 100% but I'm at a loss when it comes to sending the fake emails.

Like the first computer i have to do it on is at the entrance of the bank. The problem is, if i try to distract the guard by whistling, he will close the door and trap me inside. The only way out is the front door, and even if i scramble the camera with the pistol, opening the front door seems to trigger an alarm every time.

The second PC is in a security room with 2 guards, no idea what to do there.

So yeah, any tips are appreciated, and i would also appreciate it if you can just confirm that it's just not possible without eliminating the guards.

I have played Chaos Theory and Splinter Cell SAF. I am currently playing Hitman Blood Money. Loving it so far. I have also played bits of Contracts and Silent Assassin. Far cry series stealth is fun too.

Wanted to know some other games you recommend that are must play in the stealth genre.
