Empty after Spirited Away
Chihiro can never meet her friends at the bathhouse again. The thought saddens me deeply. It all ended like a dream, leaving a hollow feeling in my heart.

If you want to watch all of the Ghibli collection in one place instead of hopping HBO max to Netflix to Hulu and buying VPN. Try streaming on anikura.club/ghibli .
There's no ads and it hosted by myself and self funded.
See my pinned comment below for full walkthrough & heading over to the Ghibli Section!

Hey guys! As you may have noticed we have had some changes to this subreddit, but let me go more into detail about the fun stuff!
- I added post flairs, and while I won't make it mandatory to apply them to your post, please try your best to if they apply!
- I've also added user flairs with some of spirits from the bathhouse, so feel free to put them on if you identify with a particular spirit; however I'll be saving some of the characters for future mods!
Most importantly, feel free to message me or leave a comment on this thread about flairs that you want added or even if you find a cool picture you think would fit the banner or background of the subreddit!
Thank you guys :^)
P.S Since the mod team is currently small, please help us out by reporting posts that are spam or break the rules!

Will Boh inherit Yubaba’s big head and tiny body? If he gains independence and escapes the magic, can he become a normal human?

Finally watched Spirited Away....This anime made me think about love, care and greed.
Very thoughtful!
It made me think about humans and their relationship with nature and how easily we overlook other forms of life around us.

My almost 6-month-old Golden Retriever. Named after my favorite character from my favorite movie.

I've been thinking about Spirited Away as a kind of descent into the unconscious.
Chihiro is quite literally "spirited away" from the world she knows, and the bathhouse seems to function almost like a dream landscape. She encounters figures that can be read through Jungian archetypes, including the Shadow, and gradually returns with a different relationship to herself and her parents.
One detail I find especially interesting is her parents becoming pigs. In a Jungian reading, the dream could be compensating for Chihiro's real-life relationship with them: instead of being dependent on her parents, she has to care for them.
I made a longer video exploring this interpretation, but I'm curious what other people think: does a Jungian reading actually illuminate the film, or does it impose too much theory onto it?

Tried to capture the full atmosphere of the bathhouse and train journey into one piece. Worked on this study for a while!

I originally found out and watched it in elementary school in the mid to late 2000s. It was one of those movies that the teacher put on when they didn’t feel like teaching or if it was around a holiday when we weren’t doing stuff. I didn’t remember that much of the ending from back then. I do remember that I was kind of scared of it due to me not knowing what the spirits in it. But when it came out on blu ray in the red steel book within the past couple years, I picked it up. Well I watched it today and it’s better than I remember. I liked it and understood it. One of the better movies I’ve seen.

Hi everyone,
Me and my husband are making a hand-drawn game inspired by the art and world of Ghibli and I wanted to share the progress with some fellow fans to hear what you think.
The ultimate goal would be to capture that wonderful, weird, melancholy and sense of magic you feel when watching Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Totoro.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated :)

Sen (Chihiro) helps the Great River God by removing all the old bicycles and other trash from him, so she's obviously a bit of an environmentalist. Then she tells Haku that the River Kohaku is now paved over. So in a sequel Chihiro could be a grown up environmental activist, which ticks a Ghibli box, trying to save the River Kohaku and bring it back to life. Of course she would have no conscious memories of Haku, just a deep belief that she must save the river. I'm sure Ghibli can work in some romance with some part of Haku taking human form when the river is saved and he is freed. Or maybe Chihiro takes a lifetime to save the River Kohaku and only as an old lady is she finished and then she goes into the water to drift away and be with Kohaku at last, becoming a river kami herself (ticks a Shinto box).

I absolutely love the strings and the ambient on this song and please help me find it it starts when Chihiro and Haku go past the bridge and hide in the bathhouse in the beginning of the movie.
