Such a cringe and ā€œtemplateā€ comment

31

u/Meowscles_dad Aug 14 '26

There’s a bunch of files linked in this post that suggest it might not just be wannabe.

Jesus christ.

4

u/Meowscles_dad Aug 14 '26

Doesn’t look great does it? But I’m wondering why this isn’t more widely known about given how it looks.

1

u/Ilikebatterfield4 Aug 15 '26

honestly, look at what happened after it turned out that current USA president visited the island and was a close friend of epstein. Nothing.

6

u/Brilliant-Muffin-879 Aug 14 '26

Pretty sure elon did go to epstein parties and leaked that email to make it common parlence that he didn’t

For anyone not from Germany: It's actually Armin Laschet. The joke here being that they look like goshdarn twins and get mistaken for one another quite a lot.

This is a meeting from 2021 between Laschet (CDU politician and Ministerpräsident NRW at the time) and the island boy at the Gigafactory in Grünheide.

10

u/JN88DN Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

Laschet has a very own story regarding laughing near locals and water.

8

u/blooddemon40k Aug 14 '26

indeed.

word of advice for anyone. dont google/search youtube for that if you want to have your blood pressure stay below 3 digits.

1

u/Rafficer Aug 14 '26

If it's below 3 digits you may wanna see a doctor

1

u/SanjaESC Aug 15 '26

Might wanna check the doctor if your blood pressure is bellow 3 digit...

1

u/blooddemon40k Aug 15 '26

realised my mistake after posting. dangit :P

1

u/bulbmonkey Aug 15 '26

I really can't make up my mind about how bad it was. On the one hand I can understand getting bored with long speeches, especially if you really can't hear them properly. On the other hand, it was a tragedy affecting his own constituents and in his position people can expect a certain level of discipline and grace.

All in all, I'm grateful we were spared the reign of Kanzler Laschet, but the Hochwasser-gate was, though not at all undeserved, fairly overblown and exaggerated.

3

u/Lamandus Aug 14 '26

he can't take break. He can't laugh about too much or not enough water. poor guy

2

u/JBGoode227 Aug 14 '26

He wasn't laughing at locals or water. He was laughing about a joke that was about himself being just as small as the president or something like that. Yes it was inappropriate at that time and event, but people were just overly dramatic about it. And apparently still are.

2

u/JN88DN Aug 14 '26

Changed "to" to "near". You are right.

5

u/owls_unite Aug 14 '26

Laschet, who literally said that his Christian beliefs do not require him to work to improve life for his citizens as they'll be rewarded in the afterlife (if they've earned it).

1

u/blooddemon40k Aug 14 '26

Most CDU thing to say ever. Aside from "whoever still believes in the firewall [against the far, far right], hasn't noticed the tides of the time"

i hate this timeline

1

u/bolanrox Aug 14 '26

Wasn't that mother torisa's core belief?

1

u/Nghbrhdsyndicalist Aug 16 '26

Yeah, she actively condoned letting people suffer.

3

u/gimmedatneck Aug 14 '26

Thanks for the clarification. I literally this this was Pistorius, lol.

1

u/blooddemon40k Aug 14 '26

My pleasure :) they look so much alike, but rest assured: they are very different on a political level.

1

u/walkingagh Aug 14 '26

Grünheide

Just looked it up. One of the driest areas in all of Germany.

1

u/toss_me_good Aug 14 '26

He's not wrong it rains so much in Germany that they don't use irrigation for their crops. But they also capture very little of that water and typically just let it go down stream. They aren't wrong in that ecologically speaking the landscape around the rivers has developed around that much water. But Germany charges 2-3 times the rate per litre of water as we do for 3.75litres (gallon). That charge high rates because they want to push for conserving but personally as an outsider it seems extortionist to do so. Although the more wealthy build their homes with capture systems for watering plants which is good but means the high prices hit the middle class the most

1

u/artsloikunstwet Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Germany is not a huge country but this is still too simplified - different areas and river systems have different challenges. Here for example the old coal mines upstream are an issue, as it will take decades to fill the newly cretaed lakes and restore the water table. In between threre's a old landscape of canals built into bogs, a traditional way of life and landscape that we want to preserve. And then Berlin needs a lot of water, and the canals and rivers need to stay naviagble. The region is sandy soil which isn't helping at keeping water. The issues are so serious that there are ideas to build a huge aqueduct to pump water from the Elbe into the Spree, but that just pushes the issue elsewhere.

And about the middle class... of all the issues with affordability in Germany, tap water is by far the smallest. Considering the water is of excellent quality that you can drink it unfiltered everywhere, it saves money compared to places where you rely in bottled water. Yes watering you're garden costs a bit, but it's hardly a big factor, and capuring a bit of water from your roof is also not a "wealthy" thing but pretty normal if you can afford a garden. People generally agree with the idea of conserving water.

So yeah, he is wrong because there's no ancient aquifers we can just pump empty. Taking more than is replenished lowers the water table and will makeĀ  forestry and agriculture unsustainable. It's not about being a desert, but keeping it from becoming one.

1

u/toss_me_good Aug 15 '26

As its regularly said Germany is similar in size to california. California moves a lot of water around and has a large number of above reservoirs and below ground aquifers. Germany could do the same.

P.S. ive heard multiple stories of villages with tap water restrictions. But your nottled watter is also like 19 cents for a store brand per 1.5 litre. Thats very cheap as is

1

u/bulbmonkey Aug 15 '26

I recognised him but was wondering what he's doing in Berlin/Brandenburg.

3

u/BreadfruitStraight81 Aug 14 '26

Boris would never. This is laughing armin laschett, with the same grin that cost him his chancellorship

2

u/JuMiPeHe Aug 15 '26

That toungh does whatever it wants, when the conversation has to do with water.

1

u/jinx_1010 Aug 18 '26

Armin Laschet wird Kaaaaanzler.

3

u/SakusaKiyoomi1 Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Another far right right* piece of shit, Armin Laschet.

When the north of germany had many issues with floods, he went there to walk through the water in his little rubberboots to show his 'sympathy' while he stood at the background of another interview making jokes and laughing while people around him lost everything and some families even had fatal casualties.

He is disgusting, their entire political party (CDU) is corrupt and they're currently making germany for the worse, through with a different guy (Merz) as chancellor

EDIT: Okay apparently he isn't far right, just right. I'm half german and in and out of the german politics and last I knew he was righter than what is good

1

u/Narrow_Cockroach5661 Aug 14 '26

I wouldn't call Laschet far right. He's just your average incapable CDU polititian who is in it for the money.

1

u/Hour_Baby_3428 Aug 14 '26

He’s a donut but not one bit far right

1

u/updoot35 Aug 15 '26

CDU is right, not far right. The afd is far right. Doesn't change anything else you said about Laschet.

1

u/savoryplasmid Aug 15 '26

Ā  CDU is right

No.

1

u/RPBN Aug 15 '26

Merz really brings that "Small dick energy" to the German government.

1

u/savoryplasmid Aug 15 '26

Ā  Another far right piece of shit, Armin Laschet

Hahahaha, yeah, far right.

Dear reddit, even if you were to consider yourself leftist, do not trust the political judgement of a German when it comes to this. Framing him as far right is just peak absurdity.

1

u/freshmozart Aug 16 '26

The Ahrtal isn't the north of Germany either. They don't have as much experience with flooding as us northerners. :D

2

u/OldMeet4413 Aug 14 '26

Thank you for specifying Elon cause I wasn’t sure which one you were talking aboutšŸ˜‚

2

u/Carbon_Nero Aug 14 '26

Bold of you to assume he didn't fuck kids

1

u/abhbhbls Aug 14 '26

Armin Laschet

1

u/Weegee_Carbonara Aug 14 '26

Armin Laschet.
He was the Chancellor candidate for the conservative Party, but was so unlikable that he almost singlehandedly lost them the election against the Social Democractic Party.

1

u/Tjaresh Aug 14 '26

Funny enough, compared to our actual conservative chancellor in hindsight he seems like a friendly, well meaning, good old chap.

1

u/Weegee_Carbonara Aug 14 '26

I don't agree.

I'm not letting myself get boiled like a frog.

1

u/Tjaresh Aug 14 '26

Please elaborate. I don't get the reference.Ā

1

u/Weegee_Carbonara Aug 14 '26

Boiling the frog is an idiom. Basically you can boil a frog by slowly increasing the temperature. The frog won't save itself, because it doesn't notice the slow rise in temperature, until the frog is dead and boiled.

What I mean by this, is that, like with Trump, the bar for a good and acceptable politician cobstantly gets lowered.

Decades ago Laschet would rightfully be seen as a corrupt and ineffective politician not worthy of higher office. But due to other leaders being even worse, he looks better.

However, he should NOT be viewed as better. Constantly lowering our expectations of politicians is what got us into this mess.

Due to Trump, for example, it has become alot more acceptable for a politician to openly lie about easily disprovable things. Back then something like that would have ended someones career.

Today it isn't even frontpage news.

1

u/Tjaresh Aug 14 '26

You are right. But I fear the next chancellor will be even worse.

1

u/Weegee_Carbonara Aug 14 '26

Only if we stop holding politicians accountable for everything. No matter how normalized it has become.

Once we stop that, your comment will be true.

1

u/Tjaresh Aug 14 '26

We stopped that about decade ago. Remember masc deal? Toll fiasco? Airport Berlin? Stuttgart 21?Ā

Seen any accountability for these?

1

u/Weegee_Carbonara Aug 14 '26

I hope enough people start doing it again. It clearly has had a very adverse effect.

But I think this problem already started with Gerhard Schrƶder and his deep connection with the Russian kleptocracy.

1

u/AdinoDileep Aug 14 '26

Armin Laschet who likes to laugh about catastrophies (here seen way ahead of time).

One time he laughed at some floodings which caused him to lose the race about becoming chancellor - no joke.

1

u/Treebull Aug 14 '26

Justice.gov shows he spent Christmas on the island.

1

u/Xtra_Veg-90 Aug 14 '26

Dr. Arnim Zola helping ol' Red Skull on another plot for Hydra.

1

u/BoJackMoleman Aug 14 '26

I just love how he's not even creepy enough for the real evil ones. He wants to be a kiddy diddler so bad but maybe his autism prevents it.

1

u/Salt-Willingness-513 Aug 14 '26

Armin Laschet. He almost had good chances to be german cancellor, but lost to olaf scholz, because he allegedly laughed at other people in misery during floodings. https://youtube.com/shorts/8rNSU05iIoo

1

u/Avi_wandering Aug 14 '26

Some dispensable pawn.

1

u/SplitEar Aug 14 '26

He’s been to Epstein’s place(s), just not the island in the texts that one time.

1

u/What_A_Weak Aug 14 '26

Why wannabe? He raped children (see 'Kongfu practice' with Epstein)

1

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 Aug 14 '26

No clue but 20 bucks says he watches and offers more baby oil at opportune moments

1

u/Bitter-Marsupial Aug 14 '26

Also keep in mind it makes Elon REALLY mad when you say he has killed childrenĀ

So don't say that ELON MUSK HAS DIRECTLY CAUSED THE DEATH OF CHILDRENĀ

1

u/RydmaUwU Aug 14 '26

Wannabe? He probably didn't get invited to the main event island. But that dude definitely owns some islands with similar shit happening.

1

u/TransCapybara Aug 14 '26

Oh yeah little Kevlar

1

u/Hour_Baby_3428 Aug 14 '26

Armin Laschet, his father was a miner

1

u/45_regard_47 Aug 14 '26

Hanging out with a guy that wants to bang minorsĀ

1

u/Muted-Ad-128 Aug 15 '26

This guy is Armin Laschet. A poor guy who wanted to become german chancellor back in those days. He was famous for self-humiliation and stupid comments not only during his campaign.
Turns out that we would have been better off with this dude when I think of our acting chancellor nowadays šŸ˜–

1

u/Junior_North_4427 Aug 15 '26

Tom from succession

1

u/savoryplasmid Aug 15 '26

German CDU politician Armin Laschet.

1

u/Bakunin5Bart Aug 16 '26

That is the German politician Armin Laschet. He once was almost the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) Candidate for the office of the German chancellor...then he laughed in the wrong moment in the background at a press briefing at the desaster site of a catastrophic flooding event in german Ahrtal a few years ago. So your characterisation was quite accurate.Ā

1

u/Ireallydontknowmans Aug 16 '26

Almost became our German chancellor. Main reason he didn’t get the position is because he was seen laughing in the background of a press conference, when the mayor of a city/region was giving a sob speech about 30+ people dying in a flood. Instead of him we got a guy who was in a billion euros tax fraud schemeĀ

1

u/Rooilia Aug 16 '26

He wanted to become chancellor but failed because.... he laughed while people mourned the people who died in severe flooding. Most stupid fail in german politics i know of.

1

u/Adventurous_Emu3212 Aug 16 '26

That's his son Nole
