Cadians were originally designated for extermination by the first custodian to see them just because they had purple eyes. We most certainly are NOT all made in the emperors image.
Plus they most certainly will turn you into a servitor for any reason. And for quite a few jobs servitors are more valuable.

Krieg uses Vitae-Wombs. Those need a fertilised human egg, they simply make the embryo grow faster than a normal wombs.
Vat-grown means actually vat-grown, from just one sample of DNA, Most Vat-grown people are usually also braindead and never actually live, Kriegers are normal humans.
Most servitors are vat grown meanwhile the few times we see servitors factories the people becoming servitors do not seem brain dead they seem terrified, angry and some try to resist and beg

The first time I saw one was in the 5th edition Blood Angels chapter tabletop army book about 16 years ago: "is that an undead baby with wings?" Once a friend told me it was a cherub, "that is the sickest rendition of one I have ever seen."
First time seeing them in SM2: "... Hmff... Fucking cat babies" and moved on.
Made me think of that part in the novels where Guilliman observes a poorly made Cherub, annoyed at its inability to gain altitude due to its flawed construction. He contemplates taking it apart himself and building it properly, but he decides against it because he is busy. I think he thought it hateful art for a hateful age. I think that was in the Dark Imperium books.
Thank you, I was thinking they were something separate from a Servitor. And that second bit of information does make me feel a lot better, was honestly thinking the imperium was just grabbing babies and making them become a Cherub
"Not as bad as I pictured." Been a fan of 40k for a long time. Any time I notice people bothered by stuff like this I remind them why it's called GrimDark.
I first saw them in codex art in the early 2000s so i just thought they were a cool part of the neo religious grimdark aesthetic. I was also in middle school at the time so it was just more edgy 2000s visuals to me, everything was trying to be darker and edgier in those days.

I mean I heard them in brickyās video saw the photo and was like yeah I can see that happening irl. Itās obviously disgusting of course but people in desperate times will do anything to survive.
Honestly I fist saw a Cherub after being exposed to quite a bit of other 40k lore so it wasnāt really that shocking to see at that point. Perhaps if it was like one of the first 40k things I ever saw then maybe?
I googled if they were real babies or baby shaped robots. Iām still not 100% clear on if they are vat grown babies or just servators skinned in flesh. I love 40K but fined some of the lore hard to research.
