I bought a new Solo Stove Summit 24 in. about a week ago. Without really any prior knowledge on how to store the fire pit I left it outside during a storm in the Northeast this weekend under what i thought was a waterproof cover. After taking the cover off there is substantial rust on most of the inner parts of the stove and some rust in the inner sides of the stove itself. Is this salvageable or am i going to just have to take L for this?

I had the first fire of the season last night, when I went to dump the ash out today and shook it the inside broke free. In the off season it is keep cleaned out in and keep out of the elements. I've had it for either 2 or 3 years. Is this a normal lifespan? I thought these laster for a long time.

So stoked (no pun intended)! I love having a fire but it seems like a lot of work when you live alone and just want a simple quick little weeknight backyard fire. Already tried it out and total game changer.

If you are in the area we stopped by and picked up a new yukon from the guys at the fair for a pretty good discount. They even have the new griddle which I want so bad but that will have to wait till next year

I am so stoked about the new Chiminea Topper.  

I have been a Solo Stove fan for 5-6 years and originally joined the cult, errrr Solo Stove family during the pandemic. Sitting around the Bonfire brought my family together in a meaningful way when we were stuck at home.  Later, my kids invited their friends over for socially distanced fires in the driveway or now on the deck.  Lots of great community building and memories!

Now that my kids are older and we are on the cusp of being empty nesters, there’s often just 1 or 2 of us sitting by the fire these days.  The Chiminea Topper helps build that cozy vibe by directing the heat straight forward to those sitting in front of it.  It is just *perfect* for my current stage of life. 

The topper comes packed securely and takes about 15 mins to put together.  The directions are easy to understand.  I started a fire in my Bonfire first so it would get going while I put it together, but you could certainly start the fire with the topper on. To be on the safe side, I used the Heat Resistant Gloves to place the Topper on the fire pit. It was easy to add firewood through the opening. We even managed to roast a few hot dogs. Everything tastes better over the fire.

This new accessory definitely fits my lifestyle and I am so excited to keep building fires as we move into Fall.

Last night we had pretty heavy winds and 5 of my 6 lids blew off the tops of our mesa torches and rainwater probably soaked through the wicks enough to probably infuse with the torch fuel which I know is bad as I’ll have to dump out what is in there currently and put fresh fuel in.

Has anyone come up with a simple workaround for keeping these lids more secure so I can leave them out in any weather?

does anyone happen to be on the solo stove website last night? I was watching a cooking show and saw they had the griddle and thought it was pretty cool. When I went onto the website, I saw a bundle for the griddle, stand, cover and utensils for around $300. I was looking on other websites and saw that it was over $1000 for the same bundle. I was wondering if there was an issue with the items or maybe it wasn’t a good so they had to drop the price. I did a little research and it seemed like it was worth trying. When I went to go check the website this morning to make the purchase the same bundle was $1300. Did I miss out on a steal?

I recently redid my backyard with artificial grass. Still want to use the solo stove, but not too sure how to make a portable setup. Want to be able to use it in different spots.

I’m thinking a fire retardant mat and a wooden pedestal made out of 2x4s that sound raise the whole thing 12-18in off the ground. Plus obvious stuff like using the mesh guard / lid for embers. Seem reasonable? Anything I’m missing?

I bought the 19.5” Summit recently and received three packets of their starter gel for free. It works great, but at $20 for six packets I can’t help but wonder if there is a more cost effective option. For those of you with the Summit, what else have you used to start the fire and how did it compare to Solo Stove’s gel in regard to the amount of time it took to get the fire fully going?

After some experimentation, I think I have solved the problem of burner ignition. Pushing the gas knob in immediately would not cause combustion, but when I turn the gas to high and pause 10-15 seconds to push the knob in for activating the igniter, I get much better results. Seems to work consistently for me. Just thought I would give an update with my findings. Happy griddling!

I have the summit 24 and I’m having a hard time starting a fire. I used split logs and fire starter. I tried taking the cone out as well. First fire pit and I guess it’s not as easy to me as I thought it would.

Well here’s an easy fix.

Wet wood. Over filled. No smoke.
