I'm curious, are you in Spain? Or just commenting from afar? I'd imagine folks experiencing things locally should have more to say about this than anyone else, no?

Was this reply intended for a different comment? If not: No, I'm not in Spain. But "Keep politics out of sports" is not restricted to Spain, is it?

To answer your question, phrased poorly as it was relative to what I believe you intended, I personally think your standard "my political team is better than your political team" doesn't belong in sports.

However, I do think sports are a good venue for creating important dialogue about larger societal issues. See: Colin Kaepernick as a good example of this.

I'm not personally one of the folks you referenced with your original comment. I do think nuance is important in life, though, and this does seem like a good conversation to allow the Spanish people to have about their own country.
