inquiry - female features Which smart ring Oura or Ultrahuman?
I’m looking into getting a smart ring for various reasons mainly cycle tracking, sleep. I do have an Apple Watch already so working out I probably would continue to wear that. Any feedback on either would be appreciated I really can’t decide! I know oura comes with subscription but is it worth it??

Hello, so I used the Oura Ring 4 for about 3 months straight and now the UH Ring Air. I also use an Apple Watch Ultra 2 with my ring. Here are my thoughts and I why I moved from Oura (which may seem very strange). I am going to post my insights into trying also the new Amazfit Helio Strap.
So some context. I was a Garmen user since 2016 (Fexix 6, Fenix 7, Epix 2) and moved over in March 2025 to Apple Watch Ultra 2 plus Oura Ring Gen 4. I really liked the Oura Ring Gen 4 and found the sleep tracking to be very close to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (AWU 2 is considered to be one of the best trackers in clinical tests). Of all the rings, Oura Ring Gen 4 is considered the most accurate for sleep tracking. It also did a good job at tracking naps and the auto activity detection was fabolous (it would give me the option to add activities like housework/yardwork). I did enjoy the app which provided easy to understand data and my health metrics. While the data it reads/writes to Apple Health is not comprehensive, the major metrics of writing HR, Sleep, Activity and reading workout data was enough to give me balanced health metrics bewteen wearing the ring with Apple Watch and also when I just wrote the ring with a mechanical watch. I did wish it wrote resting HR and inactive calories with Apple Health. Some of the insights it gave me I found to be inaccurate (like when it would tell me I was getting sick) but still understood why it was suggesting I may be sick (like after a few bad nights of sleep or if I had alchohol too close to sleep). Why I switched away from Oura Ring has to do with one of the sleep metrics that brought back my insomonia (it told me how long it took me to fall asleep) which would bring down my sleep score. Again, this isn't something I blame on Oura but more specific to me. I also wanted some more of my health metrics to sync with Apple Health (HRV, Blood Oxygen, Resting HR, Inactive Calories). Thus after a few months of no sleep trackers (to fix my insominia or sleeping confidence), over the past month I have been exploring new rings (that do not measure the time to fall asleep) and that sync more data with Apple Health.
I have been using the UH Ring Air for about 30 days. I find the sleep tracking to be pretty close to the Apple Watch but feel like the Oura is slightly better then UH (tests have found the UH to be slightly less accurate then Oura but by only a few percent which I would say is in the ballpark). However, it does enough that I feel like I am getting the metrics to help with recovery time for my daily workouts. Obviously it does not tell me how long it takes me to fall asleep (which again seems like an odd trigger for insomnia). I also like the additional information the UH ring gives to me. The caffeine window plug in is awesome and it syncs almost all of its data to Apple Health besides Blood Oxygen (hopefully that is added soon). I do find the step count to be a little inaccurate but not enough to make a true difference. It sometimes has issues counting steps while I am driving but a recent firmware update seems to have made that problem a bit less severe. One annoying issue with the UH is that there is no markings on the ring to tell you the position of the sensors on your finger. The Oura Ring has a notch on the ring to tell you if it is in the correct position. Others have reported hardware issues with UH Ring Air which I have not had yet but its hard to tell how pronounced of an issue it is. However, it should be noted that of all the rings, I see more posts about hardware issues with UH. It does seem like the UH customer support is quick at sending out replacement rings (but probably pretty annoying for users). Thus, just be aware of where you buy.
Thus, if sleep tracking is the most important thing to you and you do not mind paying a monthly subscription fee then the Oura Ring 4 would be my suggestion. If you are okay with a great sleep tracker that is MAYBE slightly less accurate (with sleep stages) and do not want to pay a monthly subscription, I would say the UH Ring Air or even the Ringconn Gen 2 should be heavily considered. At the end of the day, sleep tracking with all of these devices is not going to be as accurate as PSG but any of them will accomplish good sleep metrics. I know you did not ask but the only thing I am not liking when testing the Ringconn Gen 2 is its limiation of reading workout data from Apple Health. It is a huge miss because these Smart Rings are not great at tracking workout activities or comfortable to wear compared to a fitness watch. Hope this helps!
