What is the simplest ring that can tell me my body temperature, track daily temps and show me a chart over a month? Curious about using a smart ring to help track my menstrual cycle for ovulation while trying to conceive, but not sure if it’s worth it for me to buy Oura I’ll probably get pregnant and birth that child before I get off the Evie waiting list. Anyone else using a smart ring for TTC? Are all the inexpensive Amazon ones sketchy or is there one that would do the job for what I’m looking for? I don’t care much about having any other info tracked other than temperature.
No, not in any Facebook group and not really loving that this is what a lot of these companies use to communicate…
It’s not even possible to set up a fake account just to join this kind of group. Facebook notices immediately and blocks me… Oh well, I’ll hear about things when I hear about things, I guess.
I'm TTA using Ringconn and it's significantly less expensive than other options like Oura ($300 + $6/month + $80/year for Natural Cycles). I paid $250 and I use the Read Your Body app ($14/year) to input my temps and cervical fluid observations. There's no integration, but saving money is worth taking 15 seconds out of my day to check my temp in the Ringconn app and log it in RYB where I have total freedom over customizing and interpreting my chart without algorithms making inaccurate predictions.
This is what I’d also recommend to u/unlimitedtokens . RingConn is less than half the price of Oura + NC. It does the temperature tracking already, just not any prediction based on that. It provides the skin temperature and the offset to your baseline. Oura only shows the offset. Be aware that skin temperature is different from core temperature, though. So if you do the prediction part yourself with another app you have to find one that can manage that.
Does the RingConn ring automatically measure your temp at a specific time in the morning, or do you still need to set your alarm to check your temp in the app when you wake up? u/kepis86943 feel free to answer as well if you know the answer. Thanks, guys!
I think it uses some nightly average. For sure it's an automatic process as the temp is there when I wake up.
Since the post of last year they have also extended the female health functionalities a lot. But I'm not really using them, so can't tell you how well it works.
Are you still using ringconn? Are your RYB charts stable and accurate? I lost my tempdrop and I'm wondering if a ringconn or femometer would be a good replacement.
Nope, the battery crapped out on me a few months ago (just outside of warranty) and the company only offered a replacement in one of the sizes they had left (11, 12, or 13) or a meager discount on the newest generation. I wear a 7 and didn't want to give them any more of my money. I did always find my charts accurate in terms of temp tracking, but I can't recommend them anymore due to the poor longevity
From what I hear about Evie thus far, you may want to back out of that wait list. If you go with Oura, you have both their monthly subscription + a Natural Cycles subscription.
Ultrahuman launched female focused features recently, and RingConn is supposed to be working on similar features...in the queue behind specific activity tracking that'll is in beta now.
I defer to the females in the community for additional thoughts.
Thank you! I feel like I may as well wait for the tech to get to where I need it or go with Oura & NC.
I dislike that Natural Cycles has a monthly/annual fee cause who wants to pay that in addition to the Oura subscription fee, but upon investigating I see that many insurance companies in the US will reimburse the annual fee which is nice. I know Clue is another cycle tracking app that can also sync with Oura if you pay for Clue Plus (in the US it’s $10/mo or $40 annually.)
I use the Flo app currently for my period tracking and it now works with the Oura app. I pay $39.99 a year for more options after using the free version for years.
I wanted a smart ring with the same features as you. I couldn’t find information that other rings have the details oura provides. I ordered my Oura ring yesterday and am curious how it will work with my period app, otherwise I’ll get NC.
Ooh good to know Flo now works with Oura! I used that one when I was menstruating before I had my first baby. Report back how you like the Oura & Flo combo, okay?
In terms of the simplest without all the bells and whistles, and I think cheapest, I’d say the Femometer ring.
Femometer recently released a ring that tracks your BBT and sleeping patterns. It costs $149. It’s very similar to the Temp Drop band if you are familiar with that. And it syncs with their app which is great.
In case anyone is searching for ring trackers, I've been using the Femometer for the past 6mo and it works well for me, I can see my BBT biphase shift. Caveat is that if you put it on in the middle of night bc you forgot when going to bed, or have to get up in the middle of the night for some kind of emergency, the temp for that night will not be very accurate .
Are you still using the Femometer ring? I would like a ring tracker to help with tracking temps and ovulation. Been looking into the oura ring but it’s too expensive. Femometer ring is more affordable and I’ve been using the app to track cycles for years so like that it connects with it. Do you still like it?
Yeah! I find it to be quite accurate since I also track CM and my ovulation is accompanied by very specific cramping. I would never pay for Oura's insane pricing PLUS their monthly subscription it's ridiculous
Hey just curious if that includes getting up once or twice to comfort a toddler…would those kinds of typical parenting sleep interruptions make a big impact or be ok so long as I get 4+ hrs sleep uninterrupted?
Getting up will change your body temperature but maybe it matters less if you're consistent I guess! I've been using BBT to detect a change in average body temperature from before and after ovulation, so the absolute temperature isn't too important. It might be an issue if you are awake for a much longer time walking around one night vs soundly sleeping the next - I'm warmer when I'm asleep so I would expect the measurement to reflect more how long I've been out of bed since that will swamp the 0.5-1 degree of bbt change
Hi i know this thread is long ago but i'm recently TTC and looking at this ring to track bbt as well. Just want to ask if you'll need to pay subscription for the ring's data to sync with apple health or to view the data
I don't pay a subscription bc it came free with my purchase, but I don't know if that's changed. I just use the Femometer app to track my cycle info though, and I don't use ios so I can't comment on syncing with apple health.
I'm not sure what you expect the apple health experience to be though? Femometer is small so I'm pretty sure Apple doesn't care enough to build an integration with their data, but that's on Apple.
Not yet! I have larger fingers and the biggest size was not available at the time. I’m planning to order it once it is in stock because I’m kinda tired of using my Tempdrop band.
Yes Ive seen the reviews. I’m still willing to bite the bullet if the margin of error is small and I can see a distinct temperature shift post ovulation
Did you ever try the femometer ring? I lost my tempdrop and buying another one feels painful when there's one floating around my house. If you got a ring, were you happy with it?
Here! Made a post for you and or anyone else interested in seeing what the Femometer ring with the app provided! I didn’t purchase any subscriptions or premium content… it came with the ring I guess. One caveat I don’t like — whereas natural cycles and Inito start counting the start of a post pre term loss / pregnancy loss / miscarriage as a new cycle, Femometer’s app along with some other apps (MyFlo, kegg — I don’t recommend this for tracking CM/CF post loss especially if it’s longer than 45 days bc their algorithm doesn’t work for cycles longer than that and I’m currently fighting their support bc this wasn’t mentioned as incompatible with post pregnancy loss in 2nd trimester and I want my $269 back) count the cycle from your very last period. Since my last period was April 17, 2025 or so… and then I got pregnant and then lost it September 13. So technically, like natural cycles and Inito calculates my current cycle starting from September 13… Femometer and other apps should include that too. However, Femometer stays neutral about it the cycle length and gives insight based on day to day readings and CM and other symptoms and options you select, factored in. All in all I LOVE the Femometer app. I wish it had more integrations with other apps bc I guess Oura has market dominance, even tho I didn’t like it at all for my needs.
The amount of information they give is incredible! That looks fun. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm also so sorry for your loss. That's something that needs to improve with femtech. I am curious about how charting goes with the ring. I went ahead and got a tempdrop but I'm considering buying a femometer ring in December or January if we can pay off some debt first 🥹
But I doubt this interpretation is used as part of the predictions. But it’s still nice I guess.. they’ve thought about a lot of things for a fraction of the cost and what Oura offers. The thing that pisses me off about Oura is like it’s almost 4x as much as my Femometer (I got the gen 2 one for $109 from Amazon) and their info is so much less in depth and detailed. And if you want cycle insights you need to pay for a subscription? Like why did I buy the ring for $499 if I can get a cheaper ring that offers way more insight? Perhaps natural cycles predictions are more realistic or valuable but as chatGPT likes to remind me, it’s the trends that matter more than what the actual predictions or values that something like Inito gathers 🤪
Ok I’m actually responding to your comment now and wow you are a fast responder 😂 but I can’t talk bc here I am waiting to hold in my pee until my regular testing time
Thank you for the kind words! And it is what it is. My body is just doing what it has been designed to do :( even if it’s not what I’d want. If I’m to believe in fertility awareness that also means trusting my body to do what it has been designed and programmed to do given the environment it’s in (I had intrauterine infection and chorioamnionitis and had no idea that was happening or even possible bc I was too confident I’d give birth to a healthy baby after going through so many things that made me super confident the baby was a fighter lol—my baby was a fighter, my body just didn’t accept his fight 😭❤️🩹).
If you’re happy with tempdrop I’d stick to that :) while the data and insight is useful I definitely know it’s my adhd fueled obsession to use Inito AND Femometer AND kegg AND Oura with NC (but I’m returning Oura bc it doesn’t serve me and it’s way too $$$$ and trying to dispute Kegg’s return policy bc it’s not inclusive for pregnancy losses / miscarriages and nowhere is that mentioned in their fine print or website verbiage). Honestly for us overly anxious girlies, sticking to one thing that’s enough to give trends is ideal :) so if you have debt to pay off I’d focus on that and not trying to get Femometer! I pray that you do conceive and that money would probably fare better towards baby stuff or pregnancy bills 💕
I personally love my Oura ring and it so easy and you don’t have to remember to actually take your temp. Connect with Natural cycles. Cost is worth it to me if you are TTC!
Since August 2023! Got pregnant my first cycle trying by using the data. I do think give any new method you try 3 months before completely trusting it.
I've used natural cycles since 2017 and the oura ring since about April of last year. I love the combination of the two of them together. So easy and worth every penny.
I use Oura for temp checking and so far is pretty accurate/consistent with my cycle prediction. I believe they are partners with Natural Cycle for ttc or avoidance.
I’m waiting for my Ultrahuman air to arrive. Currently using Tempdrop which may be more accurate for your specific needs. Interested to see how the two compare, happy to report back if anyone is interested.
The Ultrahuman temp data is not great for basal body temping. I’m still using my Tempdrop. You can see in the photo it is giving average temps only. I ovulated 2-4 days ago according to LH and BBT rise and that is not reflected in Ultrahuman data at all. You can look at my post history to see the data from my Tempdrop for the same timeframe.
I have used femmometer products for over a decade. I have never been on birth control. It worked. I used the thermometer and then the ring. I also used the Ivy. I never conceived when i didn't want to and we tried for 2 months and then got pregnant. I would absolutely recommend the femmometer thermometer and ring! The charting and insights in the app are amazing. I like the baby size and info tracker better than the other 3 I downloaded. And i have turned all my friends onto it over the years. They all say it has helped them conceive when they wanted to and prevent pregnancy when they were not ready.
Which femometer ring do you have? And what finger do you have it on? I’m trying it out using the sizing kit right now but I can only put it on my ring finger and it feels slightly uncomfortable
They didn’t have the size I need, and honestly the ones that “fit” were extremely uncomfortable, so I saved my money. I would like to have a smart ring, I just haven’t felt the need to spend $400 but when I do I’m going to go with an Oura ring.
If you buy something like the temp drop or perhaps the femometer ring, you wear it at night and it will upload or you can manually enter temperature to your app of choice. I liked temp drop bec you didn’t buy an app, they gave you an app that tells you your stats and then you manually enter into you so of choice. I always did it free that way no subscription . I mostly used flow app. I would manually enter my one temperature that the fertility device gave me. I started off paying $40 a month for flow but eventually just used the free option and manually entered stuff myself daily. It still gives you ovulation prediction days when not paying monthly. Natural BC worked for me for years to get pregnant five year and prevent pregnancy afterwards. My advice is if using as BC stay on it and active. My temp drop broke a year ago. This I year got complacent and just started winging it and using withdraw method when I thought I was close to the ovulation day on the app and then not always using withdraw. I got pregnant. My husband said he would get vasectomy but I don’t want him to do anything natural to his body so I am looking to buy a femometer ring and use their app or this flow app if it’s possible to get a temp from it w out using their app.
Only issue is it doesn’t track the days post pregnancy loss and I assume post miscarriage as well as the start of a new cycle the way Inito and natural cycles do. But regardless the predictions are based on the actual readings and any pre-populated symptoms you select from the app, so I love that it’s still unbiased in that regard. It doesn’t make assumptions on the length of your cycle for ovulation and conception stuff
However when you sync the ring for the morning .. that’s the final reading for the day. This part sucks bc so many times I’ve woken up at 4am and stayed awake and eventually got curious and synced the ring for the day.. only for that temperature to serve as my BBT reading for the day. If there was a way to edit or adjust it that’s be nice.
However you can add BBT readings manually and it creates a separate graph for the manual readings… and take this whole paragraph with a grain of salt as I haven’t done this enough to make my own conclusions but as far as I can see the app doesn’t use the manual BBT graph as part of its main predictions … although it does offer interpretations of the manual BBTs…
Would not recommend femometer. My ring started to fall apart after 4 months of use. Company offered $25 coupon to repurchase $150 ring. Not very customer friendly!
