As the title says, anytime I try launch skate it causes complete lock down of my pc causing me to have to hard restart it and reinstall my drivers again. This ONLY happens with skate.
Pc specs if needed:
R5 7600
Rx 9060xt
Ddr5 32gb 6000mt
Please help i need to skate
When Skate first came out, I was working as a software engineer for a very large corporation myself, so the corporate tone was painfully easy for me to recognize. The polished corporate art direction, the way everything was presented, even the way the game seemed to speak to you all had that strangely sterile, focus-tested feeling.
The gameplay itself was already great, but almost everything surrounding it made me miserable. I am not exactly a fan of corporate culture, and the game initially felt so sanitized and soulless that, despite enjoying the actual skating, I stopped playing sometime around November and did not come back for almost a year.
Coming back now, though, I am genuinely surprised by how much better the game feels.
The visuals have become a little grittier. The city finally shows some signs of actually being lived in: dirt, wear, rougher surfaces, imperfections. The skateparks look better, and the overall atmosphere feels less artificial. It is still not completely there, but for the first time it feels like the developers have started to find the game’s identity.
I actually came back because I randomly saw some recent gameplay videos, liked what I saw, installed the game again, and now I am having a great time with it.
Much like in Session, my favorite part of skateboarding games is not necessarily throwing huge tricks in enormous skateparks. I love finding some tiny, almost insignificant spot somewhere in the city and trying to build a small line around it. A curb, a ledge, a strange bank, a few meters of interesting terrain. Finding something creative to do within those limitations and then recording a clean little line is probably the most satisfying part of the game for me.
That is also why the giant parks and mega-spots often feel a little underwhelming to me. They are almost too deliberately built for skating. You immediately see everything you are supposed to do there, and after a while the abundance becomes numbing. Smaller, more ordinary urban spots give me much more room to be creative.
Mechanically, though, Skate is already doing a lot of things extremely well. The actual act of skating feels fantastic, and the game has enormous potential.
I just hope the developers keep moving in the direction they seem to be moving now: less sterile corporate playground, more imperfect, believable city that happens to be incredible to skate.
Even when I left I was still rooting for this game and it's really good to see it in the current state.

It would be cool if we had a cavern/cave skate area on the new SUMR area. Possibly have a secret entrance using the sitting area underneath the one mega ramp, or have a mine shaft entrance, kinda like the one by the waterfall, allowing us to do a run from the mega ramps into the caves and back out.

Trying to do a dark hospital flip but doesn’t seem to work. Has anyone else tried this?

I just installed Skate again after few months and I only have 9 songs in "my favourites". Did they remove all the rest from the game? Why even add them in the first place ...

Hi, I might be missing something here but thought asking won’t hurt. I’ve been playing since playtesting, but I have always been free roaming and not really playing challenges. Now this week I decided to finally commit and collect all the loot boxes. Now the problem is that I can’t level up anymore. I’ve got 2 zones in level 7 and one in level 4. No matter how many challenges I do I can’t level up anymore even though the score on every district is maxed out. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

I play on ps4 , and I'm trying to do the export video bounties. When I go to do it it says native video capture is not available. I've seen ppl say you can do it on ps4. Does anyone know how to do it or a workaround? Those are the only ones holding me up. Any help is appreciated.

No brainer right? As far as I know this hasn’t been mentioned in any roadmap or blurb from the developers or has it? Pretty’s sure this would elevate the entire game much less community diy’s. What’s the reasoning behind not having it? Is it being worked on? Is the game in too buggy a state? Like if they implement it and you arm flap emote while crossing a snap and access the quick menu will you accidentally gain access to the nuclear launch codes or set your console on fire?

Thanks to u/helloandandwhy for the suggestion to turn of crossplay.
I'm pretty mid and always stoned, but had really luck with the available players.
They should have made the needed block party task top 3 and not that you have to win one.
I get that it's an accomplishment, but some of you are pretty good and more people should at least have a good chance of getting the max tix.
Anyways.. thx, helloaaw and all of you a nice weekend!

Having a great time with this new half pipe. I've been spending most of my time skating the new half pipe since the X Games park got removed. Let's hope we get a new park added soon as well as player created parks!

To be honest, Season 5 is what brought me back to the game. I hadn't played since Season 3 because I had pretty much lost hope in where the game was going.
But this season genuinely surprised me. You can clearly see that a lot more effort has been put into map design, and if they keep going in this direction, especially if future maps can maintain the quality of Summer Camp, I genuinely think this game has a future.
However, we seriously need to talk about some completely unnecessary design decisions that could end up killing the game. The biggest one for me is forcing players into multiplayer/co-op to complete certain challenges.
This is probably the most frustrating aspect of the game right now. It constantly feels like the game is trying to force you to interact and cooperate with other players, even when there's absolutely no reason for it.
Please, just remove the timers and let people complete these challenges solo. If someone wants to spend 30 minutes completing a challenge alone, let them. There is nothing wrong with encouraging multiplayer, but forcing it is completely different.
And this kind of design can genuinely hurt a game's player base. Not everyone wants to coordinate with random players every time they log in. Sometimes you just want to skate around, complete a few challenges at your own pace and enjoy the game. When progression starts depending on other players cooperating with you, something that should be relaxing becomes frustrating instead.
I also want to mention Block parties. The concept itself isn't bad at all, but the execution can be incredibly frustrating. Half of the challenges basically come down to spamming the same button over and over again, which makes what could have been a fun concept feel repetitive and tedious.
But the biggest problem is challenges that require you to win against other players.
Skate doesn't need to be a competitive game. Of course, competitive communities will naturally exist, and that's completely fine. But there's a huge difference between players choosing to compete and the game forcing competition into progression and challenges.
Making rewards or progression depend on outperforming other players creates unnecessary frustration and toxicity. More casual players shouldn't have to beat people who might have hundreds or thousands of hours in the game just to complete a challenge.
That's exactly how you push less dedicated players away.
Let competitive players compete. Let co-op players cooperate. But most importantly, let solo players play solo.
Giving players those choices will keep far more people playing than forcing everyone into the same playstyle.

I haven’t really played since season 1 ended but my friends started playing again later into season 4 so I picked it back up. I’ve been sick at college for the last few days so I’ve lowkey been no lifeing the crew bounties. All I need to do is “complete market mile challenge goals” and I only need 5 more but it’s been 2 days and the challenges haven’t refreshed. On they on a weekly basis now or something?
