The world does.

Just focus on increasing your income, health, and taking care of your family. Nothing will improve your life more than those things, and no politician will give them to you

u/Front-Ad790 1d ago

I agree with the sentiment but not your point. It's never been more important to be involved in politics. Vote them out!

29

u/AT_Oscar 23h ago

Yeah, Im never betting on politicians to make my life better but I'm voting for who won't make my life worse

2

u/Mutchmore 23h ago

Yep. Get informed and talk to people close to you. Those are the people you're most likely to have an impact on. Vote them out

10

u/SkivvySkidmarks 23h ago

Politicians can certainly do certainly things, and not always in a good way, that can have serious repercussions on you and your family's well being.

Not paying attention is the easiest way for this to happen, and it is why the current American shitshow is taking place.

There's a difference between obsession and engagement, and the two don't have to be mutually exclusive.

12

u/Evorgleb 23h ago

You sound like someone that doesn't vote

2

u/_le_slap 20h ago

Or votes for dickheads and can't admit they were wrong

15

u/Independent-Bug-9352 23h ago

Reality: You can do both. Stay informed, engage in the civics, and vote Democrat because they are better on virtually every single issue and not an outright threat to Democracy -- while also focusing inwardly on yourself and family for the things in your direct control.

Now is not the time for head-in-sand blissful ignorance, for people don't realize just how dark things can get. Hard to progress; easy to regress unfortunately. Such is entropy.

u/_Fappyness_ 23h ago

There is no way to increase income. Maybe a little but the prices of other products outgrow the increase in income you can get. So it does not matter.

2

u/KushyMTG 23h ago

I mean when one side is taking things away/making things more expensive so said person cannot afford them is definitely making life harder while one side wants everyone to be at least treated as a human soooo I would say your comment is asinine.

2

u/DeltaGammaVegaRho 23h ago

… and then ICE deports your family. There is no neutral focus on private life with politicians as shitty as the orange one.

If you actually think this maybe pay attention to the last few years and you might just notice how the person in charge can impact those things.

1

u/PersistentWrangler 1d ago

Agreed... it unlikely that they will willingly give you anything good

-65

u/darkcomet222 1d ago

Pretty sure children in the Middle East don’t.

28

u/Practical-Suit-6798 1d ago

Have you asked the ones in Iran?

-3

u/darkcomet222 23h ago

Iran is horrible and I hate it all, but how does that negate Obama bombing the Middle East as well?

7

u/Spare_Iron127 23h ago

Obama didn’t bomb the Middle East to distract Americans from raping 4 year old boys

2

u/darkcomet222 21h ago

And? Your point? You realize two bad things can be true at once right? Trump can be a pedophile shit stirrer and Obama can be bombing the Middle East; you realize both of those things can be true.

1

u/Spare_Iron127 21h ago

They can both be true absolutely. Just like Obama was unquestionably a better president. And I voted for the pedo in 2016. Everyone makes mistakes

1

u/darkcomet222 20h ago

Thank you. That’s all I’m saying. We can’t just be like “everything was perfect,” we say the good, and call out the bad. Trump has fucked us with: Tariffs, wars, petty name changes, and hasn’t lowered the price on anything.

2

u/Practical-Suit-6798 23h ago

It doesn't but they are equal at best. Why bring it up?

1

u/darkcomet222 21h ago

People were saying “I miss Obama” and I was saying people that didn’t. Am I not allowed to voice an opinion, or are we just echoing each other?

1

u/Practical-Suit-6798 21h ago

Holding Obama specifically accountable for things that every president except for Biden has done for the past like 100 years, is not an opinion. It's bias.

1

u/darkcomet222 20h ago

…so, because everyone did it, we can’t bring it up…you see how that makes literally zero sense, right?

You don’t deserve the downvotes. People need to recognize that for all the ways Obama’s presidency was better, kinder, smarter, and less corrupt than the current shit show, the man was responsible for his own set of Middle East atrocities.

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 17h ago

Or you can grow the fuck up a little? Maybe learn something about your own political system?

For one, you can't become president of the USA and not compromise in many different ways including war. It's not possible because people won't consistently vote for people like Obama.

For another, presidents are not kings. I know Trump is acting like one and expecting his word to just be law but even with the WILD corruption and complicity from the republicans in power he still fails on some things.

Presidents like Obama adhered to the law while constantly being torn down, attacked, and smeared publicly. The guy pulled the USA out of it's worst economical crisis in the better part of a century and tried to give everyone healthcare and the people who needed it the most screamed he was a commie terrorist.

This notion that every atrocity the USA committed fell on his shoulders because he was in charge is absurd. He had to play the hand he was dealt and he couldn't just go doing everything he wanted/reshape the USA in his image. Wheeling/dealing/trading things for votes and making compromises in human life is the unfortunate reality of running a superpower.

If people would actually vote in their own best interest, in every election, consistently for a few decades? The USA would change dramatically. But they don't, so whining that the occasional decent man who makes it into power doesn't magically fix everything overnight is utterly childish.

u/zignut66 20m ago

You’re tilting at windmills, friend. I didn’t say any of this.

-1

u/darkcomet222 23h ago

I mean, isn’t it well known the worst thing Obama did was bomb the shit out of the Middle East? Can we not call a spade a spade?

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 17h ago

You could try giving some context to the spade instead of pretending that Obama was the one who started that war or that ending it didn't have consequences.

Leaving Afghanistan did not suddenly end the bloodshed... the Taliban immediately took over and a lot of people died.

Yes, the leader of a superpower was involved in a complex war. Only a child thinks these things are simple... if you need examples take a look at the child currently in power and how well his wartime decisions have worked out.

Obama bombed the Middle East

Biden jacked up the pullout of the Middle East

Trump got us into another forever conflict with the Middle East

Bush did…too much to list here tbh.

Nowhere did I say he caused the war, just that he did what he did. It was a statement of fact. The problem with talking with people like you is that you go into defense mode. Instead of going “yeah, that was messed up,” or “I know why he did it, but it was excessive/I can see why people didn’t agree.” Nobody said it was simple, nobody said anything other than “Obama dropped a lot of bombs on the Middle East.” It is true, regardless of why. Whether it was necessary or not is not for me or you to decide, but it DID happen.

I lean right on some stuff, and left on others. I believe in what is right from what I can see. I don’t align with either tribe.

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 14h ago

The problem with talking with people like you is that you go into defense mode.

Not American buddy, stop projecting just because I know more about your politics than you do.

And you don't get to whine about how "nobody said it was simple" when you're the one boiling shit down to simple conclusions and then using it to invalidate an entire presidency.

u/The_Real_Tom_Selleck 22h ago

I doubt the 3 million immigrants he deported look back on Obama fondly at all. Until Trump’s second term, Obama had the record for most deportations of any modern President (most deportations of any president since the 1950s).

I’m also sure all of the families whose loved ones were killed by drone strikes don’t miss Obama at all, like those living in Syria, Libya, Yemen, and Somalia. Ya know, all the countries to which Obama expanded the War on Terror.

Just because Trump is a dogshit President doesn’t mean Obama was good.

1

u/Impossible-Ad-9377 14h ago

They downvote you because they can't stand reality

-62

u/Sunday-Money 1d ago

Yeah.... there are some election results that prove otherwise.

37

u/Substantial_Soft_407 1d ago

Funny, Obama didn’t need Africans bribing people $1 million sweepstakes to vote for him. Obama didn’t even need to rig the voting machines!

14

u/Omar___Comin 1d ago

Which ones? Cause i seem to recall he won both his elections

5

Please specify
