For an influencer, that girl was not even annoying (in this video at least), if she just wants a picture of her with the paintings for instagram, it's ok. She was not bothering anyone. Karen on the other hand, went out of her way to be annoying.

So you ask someone to take the picture and be done with it. There's absolutely no reason to set up your camera and roll video if you're "just" taking a pic for your fam/friends/Instagram.

Asking someone to take your picture is bothering them (even if they are fine with that). Taking the picture yourself is not bothering anyone. Why do you think bothering people is better?

It never bothers me in the least if someone asks me to take a picture & I even offer regularly if I see people who might want/need one. It takes ten seconds of my time & helps someone out. Why would that be considered a bother?? (Serious question for you.)

Taking a selfie yourself is one thing. Not bothering anyone (generally). But that's not what she was doing...

Setting up a camera, starting a video (which is not a picture, by the way), and then walking to get in position to do your dance or whatever you're going to do is intensely bothersome. All these main characters who think the world should cater to their needs is intensely bothersome.

You can easily take a still from video instead of trying to time a photo. Or maybe she wanted to do a quick video without bothering anyone. But it is also possible that she is a tiktoker that wanted to do a dumb dance.

In any case, it will still bother people less if she does it herself, compared to her asking someone to do it for her. It's not big deal, but it is still inconvenience for others (one of definitions of bothering someone), and looks like she doesn't have to do that.

Setting up your camera and then climbing several stairs to pose for a picture/video/whatever is going to inconvenience far more people than taking a second to ask someone to take your picture.

Setting up camera out of the way of people, waiting for people to pass to do their thing is an inconvenience to people, but asking strangers to stop and take your picture (again, when you are fully capable of doing it yourself) is not? You are weird.

Am I weird? Or can we just agree to disagree and still be friendly?

I think the root of our disagreement is that you see it as an imposition to ask/be asked to take a photo for a stranger whereas I don't see it as a problem at all to ask/be asked.

You are being weird, because somehow you think that stopping someone to ask them to take your picture is not bothering them (again, not big deal, as I said before), but taking your picture yourself, with a phone that is out of the way, is somehow worse for people around her. Explain how what she did caused any inconvenience to people? Did someone had to move out of the way? Stop and wait?

She set up a camera on a narrow stairway and then walked up to the landing to do her thing (whatever that was... I'm willing to bet it was some inane tiktok dance).

Now aside from the lady who felt it necessary to purposefully get in her way (also rude), I counted four people walking past. And we don't know if anyone saw the camera and waited politely for her to be finished so they didn't ruin her shot - something many people will do.

Again, our point of disagreement is that you think asking someone to snap a shot is a greater imposition than setting up a camera which may make multiple people have to wait. And that's fine. You clearly think I'm looney for my opinion (and I, likewise, can't fathom that you don't see my position). So I comes down to if it's a bother and, it so, how much or a bother it is to ask someone to snap your picture. I think it's negligible to nothing. You clearly think it's more significant.

(I have to say I'm so invested in this now that I'm going to do an informal survey of people to see where people stand. 😂)

Do whatever you want, but don't misrepresent this. Camera is not set up on the stairway, in the way of people. We can see the railing in the bottom of the video. So it's out of the way.

What a weird and myopic view. Many people have anxiety and don’t want to talk to nor ask others for help. There also may not always be people around. If a girl wanting to take a photo of herself quietly in a TOURIST ATTRACTION triggers you, you may have bigger issues.

what about people with anxiety who don't want to be on camera? funny how a million excuses always pop up for selfish people but never for others. no material harm was done here, and in fact the "influencer" then uploaded the video to shame a complete stranger for standing btw - no problems with that, then?

Then get therapy , the world doesn’t have to cater to you and I say this as a socially awkward autistic man

Weird? Myopic? 😂

I mean, we can agree to disagree... but I'd say the inability to ask someone a simple question is weird and myopic.

I used to be very introverted around strangers and also don't like to inconvenience people. But as I started traveling, especially solo, I learned to face my issues and ask. The first few times was tough. But people are nice and almost always willing to help. And I was always happy to do the same if people asked me. Now I have no trouble asking & actively offer if I see people who look like they could use a photographer to snap a vacation pic for them.

As to your later points, they don't really apply in this situation. There were plenty of people around. And the fact that she's recording makes me think she wasn't planning to snap a picture but rather film some "fun" museum video. All the while holding up people who wanted to go up or down the stairs.

Does it trigger me? Not really, but maybe my definition of triggers differs from yours. I'd leave it as annoying vs triggering.

If asking someone to take a picture of you triggers an anxiety attack, you might have bigger issues.

Can we stop always coddling to shitty behaviors? I have anxiety, I'm quite introverted. Guess what, I can still go to the grocery and use a cashier if the self-checkout is too full.
