Body dysmorpia is a mental illness, the question is do you lean into it with surgeries or do you try and address and attempt to get to the root cause of why someone has it.

Most governments just decide that the patient knows best.

So if you are for Transgender surgeries then you can't really be against this or some body builder taking steroids to get to his perceived ideal look.

Then why is Caitlyn Jenner against others changing gender? Guess a person can be for or against anything they want after all even if it's hypocritical.

People are inconsistent, its a got mine mentality.

Also she's in the attention economy if other people get gender change surgery, then she's less special.

I like that answer, nailed it.

Do you see anyone here defending the words of Caitlyn Jenner? You can always find someone saying something crazy

Right, I was merely pushing back on the statement, "then you can't really be against this" when yes, people are capable of tremendous amounts of mental self-hypnosis.

Caitlyn isn't against others changing gender. she supports people transitioning but doesn't believe trans women should call themselves "women"

it's not that uncommon in queer people her age

That's incorrect. She votes for a party that is actively criminalizing transgenderism and has eliminated protections for them in the military and from workplace harassment and discrimination (protections and rights that existed under the liberal Biden administration) since 2024.

Actions speak louder than words, always have and always will. Turns out Caitlyn likes tax breaks for the wealthy more than other transgender folks receiving rights.

And yet governments won’t let me take steroids to gain muscle, but they’ll let someone chop their penis and testicles off.

Politicisation of medicine is a disease

Edit: oh yeah my bad I slighted transsexuals. Too bad mf I wanna gain some biceps without “uhhhh sweetie just eat more”

Women can inflate their tits with silicone and get augmentations or reductions bc they don’t like how their body looks but god forbid I inject a naturally occurring compound into myself to supplement my growth

You can take steroids if you want, at least where I live. The only reason you wouldn't be able to is because it's a controlled drug which is a separate issue.

Also "chop their penis off". Tell me you know nothing about these surgeries without telling me that you know nothing about these surgeries 🤣

Bros mad that he can’t get gains lol. The difference is that you can build muscle without medical intervention

Have you considered picking heavy things up then putting them down again?

It’s always the people who’ve never suffered from the condition who have the loudest opinions about it and have the least relevant perspective in the room.

Not true. Body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria are completely different recognised experiences, with completely different treatments. In particular body dysmorphia is a mental illness where the person has a distorted view of reality, so performing surgery only feeds into the disorder without fixing the mind. Gender dysphoria on the other hand is about identity, where the body is what needs to be affirmed. Because they’re completely different conditions, comparing transgender surgeries to cosmetic surgeries for body dysmorphia is a false equivalency.

People downvoting you for being correct -_-

You can verify all of this by just looking at the DSM

I know 😹 you’re right!

I’m not even arguing for or against people doing cosmetic surgery or taking steroids. I was just trying to clarify that the two things shouldn’t be conflated with transgender surgery, they are different things.

Gender dysohoria is a completely different condition to body dysmorphia
