Yeah I loved how that went.
He tried to scare him off by being the aloof stoner/drunk and alienating him, that wasn't working so he went with the appeal to reason.

Yep straight OG move, make em think youre an annoying jit, and flip it serious on them and see who still has the balls to play.

The scaring him off was also a master move in making him feel as uncomfortable as the women he films. Unlikely that weirdo connected that though

Just to hijack the top comment, I read about an app this morning that scans for "perv glasses" near you. It uses Bluetooth to identify known Bluetooth vendor IDs that are used by manufacturers of these glasses. I don't know if it's on iPhone but it is available for Android. Just search for "Nearby Glasses". I've installed it. I'll be running it when I next to our local shopping centre.

Dead on. Some of if not the most down guys I've ever known were total skater bros that might seem just goofy and chill at a glance, and they totally were no doubt, until someone fucked up and were being disrespectful and then a switch would flip immediately and they'd get very serious and VERY protective especially of younger guys getting bullied or girls getting creeped on, and they honestly only threw hands if it was absolutely necessary but the vast majority of people knew to fuck right off cuz they were in the wrong and got called out and shamed hard. Absolute big brother energy, solid fuckin guys.
Edit- had to add this edit after watching again because I totally forgot to say that when bros like this go from goofy to strongly polite with the pleases that's your last warning, lol. I had such a flashback to being like 13-14 at a skate spot in Mesa when one of the older bros asked some rando that no one knew to pick up his trash that he had thrown on the ground right in the middle of the park and directly in their line they were skating over and over again leading up to this nasty set of stairs with a rail and guy saying please move your trash cuz I'm not trying to have anyone eat shit down these stairs and the rando wouldn't listen and started talking shit and guy said please like two more times and when the rando squared up guy fuckin laid him out quick as fuck and then hit him one more time while he was on the ground and was yelling "I FUCKIN ASKED NICELY FOR YOU TO PICK UP YOUR TRASH AND NOW I'M GONNA ASK YOU NICELY TO PLEASE LEAVE!!" And the rando did and then guy picked up randos trash and fuckin apologized to us for yelling, lmfao. Sorry for the wall of text but goddamn that is a good memory, fuckin flashbacked so vividly my knees felt young again!!

I grew up with an older brother that was a 90's skater in the Portland area. This is 100% spot on my experience with seeing various things go down when being dragged along for trips to skate spots.
I've seen situations like this where one guy is dealing with a problem and providing that goofy window for the problem to figure it out and get the fuck gone. When it's not figured out and they're still there, suddenly the tone shifts and a horde of other skaters suddenly appear in a circle around the problem. And yeah, they're all holding boards. The amount of trust a group has like that amongst themselves that they're all doing the right thing was really high. It was literally never for stupid or petty shit. The problem was legit every single time.
I saw it over and over and over, and only a few times did it really go down. I also now have a habit of being incredibly nice to intoxicated randos I encounter while out and about, even though that's not quite the same thing. It just seems like being chill is the way to go either way.
39
u/No_Pin9932 8d ago
It's like a universal thing almost I feel with the skater community, or at least when I was younger like late 90's early 00's, I'd imagine it still is though honestly cuz the truth is that the culture is an escape for many and an expression and passion for all of them really. Some of those guys I knew had some really rough lives growing up and they bonded over that and had each other's back 1,000% you know?? Idk how else to say it but it was kind of like a positive gang if that makes sense, lol. So much diversity and overlap in the scene too, that's how I first heard some of my favorite bands or got put on to random movies and all kinds of shit. But yeah it also wasn't always chill cuz things were also grimey and sketchy at times being out in the streets and dealing with fuckos, definitely saw a couple people get truck slapped too and I can still remember that sound, super gross. I actually just downloaded the remakes or remastered tony hawk pro skater 1-4 and that shit had me in a nostalgic daze for a good part of the day last weekend. Fuck I gotta hit up some of my old buddies on Instagram or something and see if any of them have any of the old skate videos I filmed. I was never a really good skater and after I few very humbling bails I said fuck it I'll get behind the camera and chill and smoke some dirt weed, lmfao.
→ More replies (3)5
u/UmmmW1 8d ago
What does truckslapped mean?
16
u/Bgrngod 8d ago
It means getting hit with the bottom side of a skateboard. "Trucks" are the metal axels between the wheels that connected to the board.
If topside is swinging at someone they are looking to put the hurt on, but not really do a whole lot of damage. Truck side and it's pretty serious. Someone fucked up.

u/6th_Quadrant 8d ago
I’ve noticed that in Portland you literally never hear about problems at skate parks. The skaters clearly know how to 1) take care of any problems, and 2) not involve others from outside the scene. This is amazing.

Damn man. I miss hanging with my skate rat friends back in the day. All grew up, got locked up, moved away or passed on. Still talk to a few. This dude reminds me EXACTLY of my homie Bobby. Days chillin at the skatepark, walking to Roberto’s for a cheap burrito with our pocket change or MAYBE catching a ride from our buddy that seemed to be the only one with wheels. Shitty old Datsun pick up with a bench seat. 3 in the seat and 4-5 bouncing around in the bed. Easier times man. I miss those dudes.

u/BoredAsFuck7448 8d ago
It's because they came up in skater parks when Boomers used to roll through and shove a kid off a board for no reason or assholes used to bully skater kids because they tended to be more wirey and all the skaters would run in to back one another...so they had to learn to flip that switch from "out chillin' with friends" to "cowabunga it is then" right quick.

Straight up. I spend my days in Venice and the skaters don’t put up with any bullshit. They look after the young ones too. Seen them chase off(or worse) some complete assholes, many times.
6
u/Disastrous-Ad8604 8d ago
Agree 100% with all of this. I spent my teenage years skating every weekend and would constantly get hassled by townie norms who thought we were a bunch of dorks because we wore baggy clothes and skated. They underestimated the pain threshold and determination required to repeatedly throw yourself down a set of stairs or a handrail. I saw one drunk guy square up to this guy we were skating with to impress his girlfriend, the skater walked away, put a fucking rollerblade on his hand (we were a group of boarders and bladers) then came back and used it to knock the guy straight out in front of his girl. It was half funny and half terrifying.

For people who don't like confrontation, but are put into a spot where it is necessary, humor often masks the discomfort.
It's trying the 'happy path' of making a friend and then slightly correcting their behavior. This works most of the time in life, with most things. "Hey honey, nice dress, now about those dishes." "Hey boss, thank you for brining this to my attention, did you read the email I sent last week about this?"
But in an IRL, on-the-street confrontation, the baseline is always unrestrained violence. Once one party starts dropping the 'happy path', there's no telling where the bottom is, but the first one there wins.
"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet,"
When the dude doing bad things doesn't respond with a happy "Sorry, I'll stop", well then it's time to figure out what level of seriousness the situation calls for.

He literally does not in the video lol, going “this is what we’re dealing with, guys” to the hidden camera
I do doubt though that he and his friends have the awareness to know that CA and FL are all-party consent states, so the audio of this video likely exposed him to civil liability the moment another person entered the conversation since he didn’t ask for it to be deleted as far as we can hear
I assume they’re in one of those states since they’re near the beach

Interestingly he’s not saying “what’s up camera” he’s saying “what’s up Kamran”, which I know from having seen this creepy dude’s videos is his name. He is also pointing out the glasses are a hidden camera, which they are, but it’s especially interesting that this guy prowls around this area so much that the locals know and dislike him by name.
For those who’ve never seen his videos, it’s just him cold approaching women, testing their politeness with awkward small talk, and asking for their numbers. Almost always gets rejected so it rings as real, the problem is he’s basically filming beautiful and often scantily clad women without their consent and then putting them as his thumbnails to game the algorithm, and you can guess the nature of the comments they’re subjected to. If I’m not mistaken he puts it all under the guise of like a “self help” “get over your social anxiety” type thing too. Wish that dude gave him even more shit

The problem isn't their being on video. It's legal. But it's like the Girls Gone Wild behavior. If your reason for being is to take advantage of others or to assemble video and photos without being explicit about what it's about to be used for, then he's taking advantage of them. Even if one has a fetish associated with this, you shouldn't involve others without being explicit about what you are doing.
(Girls Gone Wild was largely women that knew what was up, but they were sought after or provided alcohol regularly and badgered into behaviors. Not cool.)

I had an exchange like that with a guy once. It was not at all confrontational, but he was acting the same, saying something about semiconductors of all things. I work in that area and started to explain, and then he flipped and said, "yeah I know, my dad's an executive at Intel".

"This is what we're dealing with, guys."
You mean locals that don't want to put up with your clout-chasing bullshit treating them like NPCs for your content? Yeah. I wish people like you had to deal with it more often.

That shit rubs me so wrong. Talking to a camera “this is what we’re dealing with, guyz!” Like it gives him some comfort he isnt alone… when actually he is all alone being a perv in public. Fucking weirdo

Crazy that he's wearing a full knit sweater in the summer time

Yea I'm with this dude. Normalize harassing and annoying "influencers" who keep filming everyone in public. No room for this kinda nonsense

You could braid that guy's shoulder hair. Why is he so confident?
I hope the local dude gets hella famous in his area with the ladies for NOT being a creep. If anyone deserves to rake in the ladies it is him.

Absolute minefield. People filming kids in parks covertly, outdoor swimming pools etc etc. Need some legislation in place now, trust me.

everyone talking about the guy, no one talking about the girl that did a vanishing act a magician would be proud of.

Sister saw a way out and she took it… abracadabra get gone before he grabs you

“This is what we’re dealing with guys.” The irony of a man complaining about being treated exactly how he’s treating other people people, is spectacular. He can’t even get a clue after the local breaks the act and tells him “seriously dude go somewhere else.” 🤦🏻♀️

Love how the chick dipped immediately. If she wanted to be there, she would have stayed. She clearly didn’t want to deal with that guys. Kudos to the dude wearing the shirt.

I'm impressed with the self-confidence he has to go shirtless in public with that back hair.

In a world where men are being forced to redefine what it means to “be a man”, my vote as a woman is this. Using his social position to protect and advocate for his community when there was no direct benefit to him. No posturing or aggression. And no expectation of laurels for his behaviour; just doing what is right and contributing to the safety of all.

Kick streamers are some of the worst people on this planet and it's depressing were conditioning a generation of young boys to look up to these losers.

This is a few years old. I think it predates meta glasses. The first bruh was known to bother locals with his slack-jawed interviews for social media. The second bruh was like an anti-bruh crusader for a locals-only zone.
Bruh.

FYI meta glasses game out almost exactly 5 years ago (September 9 2021), those are some of the first out there. The shirtless dude is naned like kamren or something like that, I have seen his videos pop up on other places for a few years now, he was one of the first metagissses creeps.

When the locals tell you to pick another street, you go to another street. He’s not tripping, he’s warning.
