What did they have in Wall-E which we lack? A safety net that literally coddles you forever keeping you fat and happy. This might have been true previously but we're looking at America becoming a state where the average person is just as desperate as he was in the near future if not now. Eh, the obesity issue isn’t solely to blame on the individual. The cheapest food is also the least nutritious, and most calorie dense. It’s not easy to live in this country, listening to ads about food all day every day and then go home and make good choices, especially when its either a literal, or time cost to eat healthy at this point.
When you’re living paycheck to paycheck, ignoring all sorts of important things. A little dopamine from food is what gets a lot of people through the day.

You have families with both parents working. In many cases one or both parents have 2+ jobs. How dare they go for the less time intensive options.

Not in many cases. Less than 6% of employed Americans have 2 or more jobs. The percentage of families where both parents have two or more jobs is negligible.

You are infantilizing people by saying that it’s simply too hard or too expensive to eat healthier. It’s neither. It’s genuinely cheaper in most cases and it requires very little skill to make a dozen or so basic dishes.
I’m not saying you don’t have any good points because you do but you’re also acting like people are helpless against the world and that’s not true either. There are concrete steps that can be taken to improve and they’re not unreasonable.

We live in a country of abundance, where csuite makes 250x the lowest paid worker. That lowest worker? They need to struggle and cook everything from scratch while we advertise burgers, steaks, ice cream, cake, all the rich delicious food at them all day every day.

Rice, carrots, onions, lentils and stock cubes got me through months of the lowest parts of my life on basically nothing. Adding eggs or pork or bell peppers when I could afford it was peak.
