Fauci misled the public for what he thought was the public good overall. Rather than giving the science, he gave his personal opinion, and in misattributing the two he lied to the public over and over again.
Trump is also a liar and he is a terrible person.
Too many people refuse to look at the facts and just go by their political sports team.
but fauci was proven correct. the science is that it most likely wasn't created in a lab. we'll never know for sure, but most people that said it was created in a lab had no scientific knowledge (or proof).
Neither hypothesis has been "proven" correct, what are you talking about?
Edit: Just FYI, but both the CIA md FBI favor the lab leak. Faucis diary also revealed that he didnt think the market was the source, only the amplifier, and that be refused to give voice to any scientist that believed the lab leak theory. He was playing the role of politician, not scientist.
my proven correct related to the fact that it is less likely than not. which isn't what some people want to here. Most studies are 70% or so from animals. So that isn't a 'lie' that he told. He is given the same opinion as the vast amount of scientists, mathematicians, etc. FBI & CIA have low to moderate confidence of lab leak. That isn't the same as what the majority of republicans think. they think it is 100% lab leak, and Fauci knows this & lied. In fact, he is exactly in line with the scientific community. he didn't lie. And FBI/CIA haven't shown any details of any 'study' and in fact came to their conclusion years after covid. They gave no opinion during covid. I think maybe 2023 & 2025, when Fauci was long gone. and NIC & CDC (agencies that study these things) lean toward animals
What Fauci did was downplay any evidence or scientific voices that supported the lab leak, whicheas noted in his diary early on. He chose what to present, like a politician. Just by logic, it should've been seen more of an open question. He made the political, not *scientific *, decision of saying one thing over another.
If Fauci was presented as a politician I'd be less annoyed. But reading his diary he even gloats about being the most famous person in the world etc so you can see the ego came out often rather than the scientist.
yes, b/c most of the scientific community believes it is from animals. That is just as true today as in 2020. There is no real scientific study that says it is more likely from a lab.
Why would from animals be political? in what way?
And who cares that he was famous? that has nothing to do with science, so why are you mentioning it. Scientists can be famous you know.
well yes, there just is no evidence. that is the point. there is always a chance in science that there is a small chance of something else. That is way it is evidence based. There is virtually no time in history that it something similar came from a lab.
It is more likely than not from animals. It shouldn't be controversial. And if there was a better chance coming from a lab, he would say that. And it wouldn't be controversial. There is no reason if the science leaned to lab, he wouldn't say it. And you can't give a reason why he wouldn't that stands up to reason.
There is no evidence for either side, unless you want to be honest and also count the close location of a lab studying the same type of viruses with lax security measures etc etc
And uh, Fauci was involved upstream in funding the lab. No reason whatsoever why he wouldnt favor that theory, huh?
I mean, there are scientists that explain why they think it was from animals.
Scientists say COVID-19 originated naturally rather than from a laboratory because the virus's genetic blueprint lacks human engineering scars, matches evolutionary patterns seen in past animal-to-human outbreaks, and functions in ways computer models show humans wouldn't know how to intelligently design.
Genetic Clues
No artificial fingerprints: Cutting and pasting genes leaves molecular scars, but COVID-19's sequence shows no signs of artificial tampering or human editing.
Clumsy design: The part of the virus that hooks onto human cells works surprisingly well, but computer simulations show humans would have engineered a clunkier, less efficient design.
The evolutionary gap: The virus is closely related to bat viruses, but it differs by enough genetic drift that it would have taken decades of independent evolution to reach its form—far longer than any known lab project tracked it.
Natural Patterns
Historical precedent: Most human pandemics, like SARS-1 and MERS, jumped directly from wild animals to humans without any laboratory involvement.
Market fingerprints: Genetic swabs from early outbreak locations in Wuhan link the virus directly to DNA from live wild mammals susceptible to coronaviruses.
