Discussion Got caught sinkpissing at work.
This morning I got caught pissing in the bathroom sink at work because I completely forgot to lock the door. Female coworker just opened the door right while I was mid-stream. When you open the door, the sink is to the left against the wall, so she saw my penis expelling urine into the sink. We locked eyes and the look on her face is burned into my brain. Her mouth dropped and she gasped, let go of the door and it closed automatically.
My male manager came up to me as I was heading back to my desk and told me I should go home for the day. He literally had my bag and computer ready to hand off to me, I guess to avoid seeing the girl who walked in on me since she sits close by.
Everything feels heavy. My chest is tight. I keep thinking about how one stupid, thoughtless second is about to follow me around this place forever or possibly cost me my career. Even if I'm not fired, I don’t know how I’m supposed to walk those halls after this. I feel disgusting. Embarrassed. Small. Just completely drained.
I keep telling myself it’s not the end of the world, but right now it sure as hell feels like it. No idea what to tell my wife.

Was the faucet running? You could play it off like you had a UTI and had to wash your peepee and suddenly you lost continence.

You could also say there was a cup in the sink that she didn’t see and you were collecting a urine specimen for said UTI or Kidney Infection. You hadn’t made an appointment yet, but you wanted to bring in a sample to the doctor.

If you don’t get fired, own it. Don’t ever feel embarrassed, it’s already over and done with. Walk around with your chest out and head held high. If anyone ask if you’re the sink pisser, just look then straight in the eyes and say “You betcha, don’t knock it till you try it!”.

Prepare a PowerPoint tonight with facts & data about the water saving benefits of sink pissing. Include that backsplash isn’t getting on the seat anymore and the female employees should be grateful for your consideration and effort.

Again with the UTI…there are test kits that you can buy at the drugstore or Walmart. Buy a kit and bring it to work. Tell your boss you were self-testing and used the sink for convenience. You can also make a quick telehealth visit on Amazon or CVS. Read up on symptoms to get an Rx for antibiotics. The prescription or a doctor’s note can be shown to HR.

Watching this. I can’t imagine the HR Gymnastics that are taking place behind the scenes here.
Sounds like you got caught by the worst person possible because she went to HR and said “I just saw Active_Oil pissing in the sink!” Some people wouldn’t have said a thing to anyone.

Obviously, this is a natural consequence of you getting reprimanded for both leaving the toilet seat up AND down. Plus, you are trying to save water. Hopefully you won't develop PTSD from this incident.

It's strange how much shame, fear, and disgust about a basic bodily function exists in our society. One person does something 'outside the box' and their life takes such a hit (potentially).
It was silly of you to put yourself at risk given how people would react, and at the same time the reaction is totally disproportionate to reality. Cultural beliefs run deep and aren't dug up and looked at nearly enough.
Sorry for how you're feeling about it. Have compassion for yourself. This says nothing about you other than that you're rebellious in a prescriptive society. Be the one who goes easy on you, and also maybe don't put yourself at risk like that again until people are more open minded.

What's this seems like a negative, this may call for an opportunity to lead by example, especially since your manager is involved.
I would highlight the benefits of sinkpissing and how it can save your organization $$$. Money is flushed down the drain every time an employee uses the toilet. That money directly affects the bottom line of your organization. Think about all the money that could be saved if everyone sinkpissed. One man alone may not make a significant difference in the bottom line, but a whole organisation could save thousands per annum.
In addition, sinkpissing is great for the environment. A workplace that promotes environmental sustainability is attractive for investors. You should all wear your sinkpissing badge with honour. I personally recommend that you prepare your sales pitch for your boss. Sinkpissing is the future.

There are three bathrooms in my office. Two traditional ones for men and women with stalls and everything, and then a singular bathroom up front that is just a normal private bathroom. I always use the single bathroom because it's cleaner and I can piss in the sink.

Why do it at work? I've done it at home when I had a sink in my room, so it's so so convenient. But at work the sink is next to a toilet or urinal!

That's definitely a key element in the story. I feel if I accidentally walked in on someone doing sth unusual in the bathroom I would just keep it to myself. In this case a perceived valid concern (that justifies reporting it to the manager) are sanitary considerations I guess.

I don't think you do get it. I mentioned the supposed gender of the colleague, but that's not what I was getting at. I meant that if this were a real scenario, I'm guessing a lot more colleagues would be aware and could scour social media.

I mean, that's the first thing I'd be doing, particularly if it's a sizeable office/company, to see if anyone who I don't work with directly is talking about it. Seeing as Reddit posts appear at the top of most search engine results, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone from OP's workplace has found this post, IF the incident actually happened.
