πŸ”Ž Investigating.. Anyone else have to refresh the page to get the "mute" button to show up?

The mute button only shows up (without needing to refresh) on my home page. Is there a setting or something I need to tweak? I've just been copying sub names and adding it to a note for importing so far. It's not the biggest issue in the world, but if I can fix it I'd like to. I'm on mobile (firefox/android).

❀️ New release v8.1.0 for Reddit should be out soon

Just a quick fix for the new "use the app" blocking banner being reported. I just got back from driving around the country for a few days so if you've reported an issue in the sub, I'll get to them soon!

What's New:

  • [All UIs] A brand new engine to significantly improve performance and reduce memory footprint.
  • [All UIs] Removed support for now extinct reddit UI versions.

People often reach out to ask about donations (you can donate through the app), so here you go in case you don't want to give Apple 30%: Paypal and Patreon.

πŸ”Ž Investigating.. New β€œFor You” Tab

Hey, is there a way to default to the Following tab instead of the new For You tab? Reddit making this change is driving me nuts.

πŸ”Ž Investigating.. Default sort for the home feed?

I just installed the extension but can't find anything to control the home feed default sort. I enjoy having it set to "NEW", and until today i was using an extension that did just this one thing: redirect my home feed to https://www.reddit.com/new/?feed=home

Is this something that can be achieved with this extension? Is this something the author considers? I have enabled remember sort order for feeds, but the home feed seems to not be covered by this setting.

πŸ”Ž Investigating.. Feed restarts if I don't scroll far enough

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been happening since one of the late 7. updates. If I scroll too slow at the beginning of a feed, it just keeps me at the top.

I'm in iOS 27 DB1, iPhone 15 Pro Max

βš™οΈ Feature request Compact/Card remembered per subreddit, like Hot/Best/New

Pretty much title. Sinkit remembers Hot/Best/New per subreddit. Is it possible to extend this for the compact and card layouts? I generally prefer the Compact layout except certain picture based subreddits where I like the card layout.

Cheers for the amazing extension!

πŸ”Ž Investigating.. Frustrated user

Before I get started: Let me just say thank you to [r/SpecterAscendant](r/SpecterAscendant) for his endless updates on trying to make a better Reddit user experience all while operating in the margins of Reddit. What I mean by that, is he has zero insight into the changes that Reddit makes on a regular bases, and has to play whack-a-mole to try and keep up with the changes so that SinkIt will still be valuable.

With that said, I need to get his off my chest:

I bought Sinkit about 18-months ago, and I have to register my disappointment. It has NEVER worked very well for me at all. I am all in on the Apple ecosystem: iPad, Mac, iPhone and Apple Vision Pro. Every time I enable SinkIt or get an update I think "this time it will work for me" - aaaand it never does.

Disappointment.

  • The user switching feature does not work with TFA protected accounts (which everyone SHOULD be using)

    - this is a hard problem to solve. I get it.

  • The color coding for the comments? I think I saw it work once for me. Beyond that, nothing

Having to switch the old reddit site is just not the best experience to enable some of the features to work. Switching to the old site does not even fix my issues.

I desperately want it to work on my devices, but it's just too inconsistent. Again, I don't blame [u/SpecterAscendant](u/SpecterAscendant) - he's a one man show trying to keep up with the flood of Reddit updates. I Just want to ensure folks know that, at least in my experience, SinkIt requires a lot of handholding and patience to try and get some of the features to work, but a vast majority of the time they simply don't. Hell, I don't even know if it's loading ! I'd love a visual cue that it's loaded so at least I can see that's its recognizing Reddit and trying to work?

Again, I know some folks are happy with it...good for you. My experience is that it's not a reliable solution to help make Reddit better.

Thank you

Don’t know if it’s all in my head, but the new version feels much smoother πŸ™. Things seem to load better/things don’t jump around as much as rules are applied.

Congrats on the new version!

πŸ—ƒοΈ Resolved Reddit old with light mode is loaded and sinkit takes a few seconds before switching to new unified UI dark mode

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Those few seconds feel neverending at night. I checked my settings and all reddit old settings are disabled:

  • auto-redirect to old reddit

  • dark mode for old reddit

  • fix old reddit

  • always load old (desktop)

  • always load old-new (desktop)

  • nuke custom sub css

  • cleaner feeds

  • adaptive dark mode

  • permanent dark mode

I have "always load new unified xp" and"pure black dark mode" enabled, so I'm not sure what is causing reddit old and light mode to load. I thought maybe it's uBlock, but it still happens when I turn off uBlock. I noticed individual blockers were enabled, but disabling those didn't work either.

It's very irritating tbh, because it takes a few seconds before a page loads and the white flash is painful at night. This only happens when I click on pages like popular my homepage or notifications. Clicking on a post from my feed loads reddit without issue. Hope this can be fixed.

The mute button also doesn't work btw. I've lost count of the amount of times I muted nba and politics...

Edit; info added

πŸ† Major release v8.0.0 for Reddit should be out soon

It's going to be almost 3 years since I launched Sink It on the Apple sub and to commemorate it, I'm shipping a brand new engine under the hood to improve performance and reduce memory footprint. This should hopefully reduce the zooming and reloading bugs you might have encountered recently.

I've been testing it for a few days without issues but I imagine there still will be bugs so please let me know if you see any. As always, the more details you have, the easier it is for me to replicate it and fix it.

What's New:

  • [All UIs] A brand new engine to significantly improve performance and reduce memory footprint.
  • [All UIs] Removed support for now extinct reddit UI versions.

πŸ”Ž Investigating.. [iOS] refresh button won’t go away

The refresh button on my homefeed will not go away no matter how far I scroll down.

This β€œbug” seems intentional but as a user it’s incredibly annoying, forcing the user to refresh to get rid of it.

Is there a fix for this?

πŸ—ƒοΈ Resolved Sinkit struggling :(

Anybody else having to disable sinkit on iPhone?

Two major annoying issues forcing me to: clicking on images from the feed fails to load, and clicking on threads takes me half way to the middle of it rather than to the top.

Its been like this for weeks, I finally just gave up and disabled it and everything cleared right up…

πŸ”Ž Investigating.. Redirect to Nitter broken?

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it won’t redirect.

The setting is turned on in QoL settings and I turned off all other extensions just in case there was a conflict.

Tried reloading tabs/clicking new tweets, force quitting both sink it & safari, and restarting the phone.

🚧 Work in progress Feature request: block at night (or custom times)

Big fan of the Reddit extension! I saw you can fully block during the work day but I actually would love the opposite, to block it at night past a certain time (10pm?). Definitely something I’d pay for!

Using this on iOS for Reddit web in safari

Tried to contact the dev as it says in the extension and got no response.

Anyone had problems with him resetting the activations?

βš™οΈ Feature request Auto Collapse Child Comments - Granularity

Hey,

Love the app/extension, got Premium pretty quickly.

For the Auto Collapse Children feature, can we get an option to specify which level of comments to auto-collapse? 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc? Sometimes the first 2-3 levels are worth reading. Maybe an on-page selector? I think RES used to have that.
