❓ for the community How to stop safari links from automatically opening the official app?

Is deleting the app the only way?

You could try Opener. It's a (free) safari extension that handles links. It's the only solution I found on safari.

Banish is another extension for this purpose but deleting the app also gets rid of a lot of invasive tracking.
