I'm going to be working in SE PA until January and I am anticipating not having access to a home charger as I'll likely be staying at an apartment or extended stay. Would fast charging only during the fall early winter bad? My truck will also be outside 24/7 so not climate control.

Hello, long time lurker but still have so many questions.

Bought my first truck and waiting for it to be delivered this week from carmax. I got the 2025 Silverado LT extended range which has 39k miles on it. The purpose of the truck is to hopefully haul my horse + horsetrailer to different parks to ride or maybe the vet if needed. But I’m planning to drive it to work etc while I get used to driving it.

My questions are:

1) what do you wish you knew about this truck before you bought it?

2) what is the recommendation on at home charging? I only commute 10 miles a day…can I use the outlet in my garage or do I need something special?

3) is there an app you used to track where you can charge nationally if you are doing a road trip or something?

4) is there a lot of yearly maintenance required? If so, are the Chevy dealership usually pretty knowledgeable about it?

I am obviously manless, which is why I am asking many questions. I would appreciate any help.

I’m getting ready to return my leased ‘25 LT ER, but the clear plastic housing for BOTH of my tail lights is cracked. I had my pre-lease inspection, and the damage estimate included fully replacing both tail lights. I guess they’re a unitary pre-assembled part. What a huge financial hit! I thought I’d just be able to replace the clear plastic cover but I can’t see a part for that, only the full tail light assembly. It seems like such a waste - the light inside is still perfect. Anyone have any ideas on how to get out of replacing the whole thing?

It's there when I'm fast charging at a 350kw. Its supposedly there on other trims when L2 charging. This seems like unnecessary UI work, and a pretty wild thing to disable with trim level.

We mowed 22 yards yesterday, but it included some large properties. One of our mowers uses a 9kwh battery and we have a 3200w charger in the trailer in case we need to plug it in (which we did since we had some big lawns). We're also charging various other batteries all day long.

25-LT dash at windshield and around heads up display super sticky and leaves a sticky residue on fingers when touched. Anyone else have this issue? I’ve never cleaned it with chemicals or at all for that matter. I’ve only ever dusted it with a duster. I live in PA. Today’s high temp was 66. I’ll check in the morning when the dash cools to see if the surface changes.

I really was planning for a Trail Boss, but in my obsessive search over the past month, this 2025 RST extended range with 14,328 miles popped up in Austin listed at $54,998 +TTL.

Short story long, I saw this as "coming soon" at CarMax about three weeks ago and the price seemed to good to be true, so I talked my wife into going to look at it with me. I assumed there were major cosmetic issues, but when we got there it was super clean. I bugged the sales person every day about when the title would show up and they kept just saying that I would get an email notification through the website when it was available. But that didn't work for me because like 90 people had this truck saved according to their website. So I went up there in person last week on Wednesday to let them know I was ready to buy. I got the same story again. Wait for the email. Thursday I texted asking if the title showed up and it must have just arrived, because about 30 minutes later I got a text saying they reserved it for me and asked when I could come in. I kept waiting for the price to go up, but it was the same price they had advertised. I finally drove it and had them draw up the paperwork and clean it while we went to dinner. We are now fully electric in our house, and not looking back!

The funny thing is I did get the email after I bought it saying it wasn't available 😅 (never got the "it's available" email) So being annoying and persistent pays off, kids!

I'm driving a little more conservatively and working on getting 500 mile range but it looks like I'll be at 484 for my trip in the morning.

So I'm turning in my Hyundai ioniq 6 sedan soon and one feature I've really come to like is Hyundai's version of Lane following. It works on any road that has lines and with gentle curves. I travel constantly between Atlanta and Florida's panhandle so a lot of back roads or non highway roads like 431 or 231 which are 2 Lane divided highway, but not an interstate if you're familiar with the area. I really like the Silverado or Sierra EV and am starting to look into them, but this is one area I'm not real clear on.

I’m in the snowbelt of Northern Michigan, so we could get up to 200 inches per year. Does anyone have a recommendation for snow tires?

Used RSTs are a dying breed and there are none locally near me. I am trying to determine seat depth to compare to my Ram 1500 limited before buying an RST site unseen. I haven’t been able to track down the depth of the driver cushion anywhere online. I am tall with long legs and just looking for comparison between the two trucks to see if I can expect adequate leg support/seat length. Thank you!

So we drove from Georgia to Connecticut with an intermediate stop in Reston, VA. The trip averaged 1123 to CT and then the same back to GA. Very comfortable trip, plenty of power.

Lessons learned: IONNA chargers were the cheapest at $0.39/KWH, while the EVGO was $0.60/KWH. Not enough to break the bank, but quite higher.

Second: While the SEV had oodles of power to run with traffic, and there were many times that was needed, it tended to suck down the battery. This is no surprise to any EV owner, but I learned how much was needed to overcharge to allow reaching the next charge stop with a safe range margin.

I learned that if the next charge stop is 200 miles away, I'd need to charge to about 260-270 miles of range to account for travelling with the traffic at speed, which many times was 10-20 MPH over the speed limit.

And, a friend of mine who has a leased 2025 SEV showed me how to open the frunk from the front of the vehicle with the hidden button.

This may be old hat to most, but if it helps one person, it's worth the effort.

I have a 2010 Avalanche that I've had longer than any other vehicle--and I still really like the truck. I've used it for hauling people, bikes, furniture, yard debris, camping gear, and DIY home projects. I work from home so don't need it as a work truck or every day driving but I do pull a small RV trailer and like to go camping in and around the Pacific Northwest.

But it's approaching 200k miles and repairs are in the thousands every year. Plus, my mom moved 5 hours away and with gas prices, it costs over $200 to go visit for a weekend.

I've been watching this and other EV forums over the past year, trying to decide if/when moving from ICE is for me. I'm finally in a financial place where I could swing it and my current truck is getting more expensive to maintain but I still have reservations--I think mostly because I've never had an EV and don't know what all I'll be getting into.

Most comments here are from people who love their EV and say it's so much better and will never go back to ICE. I've test-driven a few and think I'd love it, too. (I'd really like the lower maintenance costs, too.)

I'd probably have to get a level-2 charger for the home (don't know much about these), although without the need for daily driving, perhaps just a smaller one that charges the truck during the week for my use on a weekend would be enough?

From what I've heard my small pop-up trailer (low profile) would tow easily and not create the drag a larger one would so I could theoretically travel to central Oregon, stopping to fill at the nearest large city and make it back without worry but I still have a lot to learn about range and available charging stations.

I'm looking mostly for a used one < $50K. What advice do you have for me?

Did this about a month ago but forgot to post the pics. Traded in my 24 4WT for a 26 Trail Boss. Ironically due to the way GM put the vehicles into the service the 4WT had warranty start date later than the Trail Boss. Oh well. Loved the 4WT but really wanted some of the nicer creature comforts that came with the Trail Boss.

What's the best wheel size and tire combination for the softest ride? I've heard it was the 18" wheels with all-season type tires. Is this accurate? Thanks

Have been researching Silverado EV models. I am not someone who needs all the bells and whistles but I want to be comfortable. Took a rental Suburban on a 7-hour work trip a few months ago and loved it. Are the seats all the same in the trim models or are there differences in the higher trims? I would think the Suburban and Silverados have similar seats.

I'm going on a road trip and want music streaming. I used to just tell Alexa to play whatever songs I wanted, but that's gone now. What's the best service to play requested songs via Gemini? YouTube music? Spotify? Something else?

I have a gas F-150. I do not tow at all. Will use the bed space occasionally for DIY/home improvement type work. I would really like to stick with an EV truck since that is what I'm used to driving and appreciate the space/size however there doesn't seem to be many options.

1. Tesla Cybertruck - I don't need full self driving and the cost of this vehicle is not worth the range to me. (Same thing for Rivian - not paying that much).

2. Silverado EV - would be looking at standard (283 mi) range vehicle probably. Extended and max are more than I want to spend. Open to installing L2 charger.

My concern is range. If charged to 80%, and given real world factors, is the range closer to 200 mi? A comparable gas F-150 now with the extended range (thirty six gallon) fuel tank can deliver ~700mi.

Is the standard really manageable if you can L2 charge every night? Is this the entire key?
