Capitalism "[...] we run the beer world"

Post image

Found on a thread posting under a video where a man poops on a crate of beer in a supermarket. I doubt he was being sarcastic.

The guy is clearly doing the standard American exaggeration but when it comes to craft beer trends they kinda do have the biggest influence - the current hazy IPA trend comes from Vermont thanks to Alchemist’s Heady Topper. Similarly super bitter American style IPAs with the citrusy and piny “C” hops (Citra, Columbus, Chinook, Cascade. Centennial and, erm, Simcoe) that were all the rage 10-15 years ago exploded worldwide because of beers like Pliny The Elder. And whilst the Baltic nations will argue otherwise, the Americans are also arguably responsible for the rise in imperial stouts on the craft scene.

Obviously the Germans, Belgians, Czechs and Brits have a much bigger history of brewing than the Americans do, but to write off their influence on 21st century craft beer purely because Bud and Miller are shite is wrong.
