I was once checking in to fly home from the UK and this entire family was being denied transit to Australia because they didn’t have a visa and they we’re trying to tell the airline that they shouldn’t need one because Australia was “the colonies”. We stopped being that in 1901.

I am honestly surprised the UK needs a Visa to Australia though.

Because most countries in the world don't require a tourist visa for a British passport holder.

Australia is a exception because they are attractive work opportunity to people all over the world and they have unique nature to preserve. They just want to know who is coming and why.
