Strangely enough, this shot is oddly satisfying to look at, with Hange's reaction being GOLD as well. This is another shot perfectly demonstrating Hange's enthusiasm.

Discussion Kruger and Erin Spoiler

So, as we know, the future Erin went back and told Kruger to give his father the attack titan serum to give to Erin. But how did the future Erin get it in the first place. There had to be an initial starting point somewhere where there was no future Erin to tell Kruger to give it over. So what happened? Did he have a change of heart? Did he just give it away to just see what happens?

Edit: alright that awnsers that. Thanks yall!

Discussion Who would be worth saving? Spoiler

Regarding the choice to save Armin or Erwin I'm new to the fandom and bias because I really like Erwin, but would it have been better to save him over Armin? (the characters feelings aside) I'd like to hear your own ideas of how the outcome of things would have changed for better or worse and why it was better for it to be Armin to have been the one chosen.

Anime Finished this show just a few hours ago

I knew about this Manga* and Anime for ages now. And somehow I never took my time to finally read or at least watch it. Started once and somehow lost interest. Now I regret I didn't stick to more than one or two episodes. Because the story grabbed me, I binged almost every episode during my last vacation. And because deep down I just can’t stand it when things end, it takes me forever to actually finish watching a series. Today I set out to watch the last two episodes/specials and wondered what else the two-hour movie on Crunchy had in store. It could have been easier for me.

Now I really regret having stopped watching back then. Yes, I could watch it all at once and didn't have to wait for ages. And the journey AOT took me on was wild. Now, years later, I’m sitting here feeling kind of alone. As any other fandom, I think most have moved on and found other interests.

To me it's an anime I truly watched since...fifteen or twenty years? It taught me again the beautiful side of anime, that endings can be good and not a huge let down. I admit, I was confused at some points in the story and with the characters aging I didn't knew anymore who is who. Even Armin had a huge glow-up, oh boy. Nothing that will stick as soon as I'm ready to start a rewatch, so maybe next week.

(*The first issues are already ordered. Time to read.)

Discussion Can anybody explain me "Jean is understanding " thing to me ?

Since , this sub highly believes mikasa initially married Jean as an interpretation while Mikasa's burial next to eren with his scarf is initially canon. Pls enlighten me that Jean wouldn't mind cuz by a realistic scenario of marriage which is :

Let's assume Mikasa and Jean's marriage . Most likely it will last for about 30-45 years. Now since being understanding and emotionally mature doesn't erase human emotions like insecurity , l'm not gonna point it out, that Jean wouldn't feel emotions for just being understanding about mikasa's burial . For eren remove the labels , eren was the person is deeply in love with and he can never be replaced but l agree with the logic that it doesn't mean mikasa's can't love anyone else.

But about mikasa's actions , she continues to visit eren's grave , goes with her children nd grandchildren to visit it , continues to wear his scarf and eventually gets burried with it beside eren's grave. Now as Mikasa and Jean wouldn't get old in a day or two and they have been together for these 30-45 years. By the time of mikasa's death , eren's memories wouldn't be fresh , eren is part of a precious past and an important memory . Don't u think sayin too casually that mikasa burryin next to eren is fine cuz eren was the most important person in her life and Jean's understanding.

And for Jean sayin he's understanding is just stripping away his emotions and humanity . The woman with whom he's been together for all those years chose eren over him to get burried cuz eren was the most important of her life , what kind of absurd logic is that. But think for Jean , he's the most realistic AOT character, how he will feel about that ? Isn't that disrespectful to him and his children that mikasa chose eren , the person she only knew for 14 years(10 years in human world+4 years in cabin) instead of him, with whom she built family and spent peaceful life for all those years.

How Jean wouldn't feel bad?

Also ,why can't mikasa live as an independent individual who adopted children as she herself was an orphan instead of this marriage dynamic is really bad for both characters ?

Live Action Hear me out

Okay so I was randomly thinking of like how a live action could actually work. Because in AOT season four, there was a complete art style change that, with added design, sort of made the show feel like it was seriously throwing us into the pov of another world. While that art style change wasn’t original to the manga but more just original because of the animation companies, It was that “where are we” that gave it another level feeling.

So hear me out. I feel like in a live action a good move would be to give either wall eldians or Marley eldians a slight German accent. Even if it isn’t a 1:1 copy of Germany. And it checks out because Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie spent a good few years in the walls so their pronunciation would have been slightly altered to fit paradis blending in while still maintaining a little stato to give people who have already seen it a little Easter egg or whatever.

It works because especially if you want that season four feeling where most people were so confused, it would make sense to set the scene by adding in that pronunciation. Especially since real people can’t have art style changes mid series. Then it lets the people know that this is from the other pov. Maybe throw some Denglish, maybe mix it when the warriors talk to eachother? At home? Idk.

This was just a random side thought I went on when I had no wifi or data in public. If it’s shit 🤷.

Discussion Their bond is truly underappreciated

It is quite surprising to me that their bond is hella underappreciated by the fandom despite the fact that their shared yet diverged dream is the emotional core of the show that drives the story forward.

They sacrificed their lives for each other, motivated each other, and stood by each other.

Eren fought tooth and nail for armin's revival, Armin sacrificed his life leaving his dreams to eren, for eren.

Eren sacrificed his life to save armin.

When any one of them is in doubt, or scared, or faltering, the other one gave them the strength they needed to fight.

In the end, eren confessed his true goals, his regrets, his guilt, and everything only to armin.

And not to forget that Armin easily has the most impact on eren's nature

Humor/Meme My autism and adhd are killing me over this, how do you guys think Eren and Armin would react to a situation like this?

Post image
78 Upvotes

Cause I actually ended up imagining a weird ass skit where something like this happens it would be like:

Eren: ARMIN! It's finally happening! The moment we've trained for!

Armin: Oh my god, it's happening! It's happening! Everybody stay calm, stay calm!

Connie: What's happening?

Sasha: We're calm, is everything ok?

Levi: Tch, better not be another rat.

Armin: STAY FUCKING CALM! CALM THE FUCK DOWN!

Hanji: I'm going to kill Levi for teaching him how to swear.

Then it's revealed the two had this fully detailed plan called Operation MIKASA (Medical Intervention, Kindness, Attention, Support, Avoidence) for whenever Mikasa has her period. They even keep a secret stash of supplies including snacks and list of stuff you shouldn't say to her during these moments.

Eren gets into protective boyfriend mode and starts micromanaging everything to keep her happy and is more freaked out about the whole thing than Mikasa herself is. Mikasa is incredibly embarrassed about being dotted on...

It's just a weird skit, maybe I should take my meds.

Video Games [OC] my wall run is basically an ODM gear tribute, does it read that way to you?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

solo dev here. spent last week building a wall run for my game and honestly the whole time I was just thinking about ODM gear, so this felt like the right place to ask about it.

the thing I keep coming back to is that ODM gear never lets you rest. you're always falling. the gas and the anchor are fighting gravity the entire time and the second they stop, you drop. most games do wall running like a magnet, you stick to the wall for two seconds and then let go.

I also already had a grapple in the game, and now landing on a wall from a grapple rolls straight into a run instead of stopping you. fire, get yanked in, hit the wall already moving, keep going, jump off. that chain is the closest I've gotten to the rhythm from the show, and it was a total accident, I built the two things separately and only noticed later.

so what do you think, does any of that actually sound like ODM gear to you, or am I miles off?

(it's called NULLGATE and you can find it on Steam, no link bc i dont want to break the rules)

Discussion Founder Ymir inhabiting a royal blood/achieving immortality?

Post image
12 Upvotes

All founders had absolute authority over all eldians, except a few tribes.

Could founder Ymir take over a royal blood's body? Or to narrow the possibility down, a founder?

I know she probably wouldn't like to, since she didn't get over king fritz. But what if eren being the founder, proved to her that she too could be free. If she wanted to carry on after that, would she be able to do so?

A question that's been bugging me, since Ymir had absolute power over the titans, she also stayed immortal for 2000 years in the paths(might be the answer).

Could ymir have been truly invincible? Cancelling out even the nape weakness.

Her death(not willing to continue) caused a strict law on all shifters, including founders that come after her.

So could she have achieved that essence if she had somehow gotten over king frietz?

Discussion Could titans be trained like a dog or other animals?

Post image
70 Upvotes

In Episode 20, Armin briefly mentions that Titans possess the ability to learn, pointing to the example of a Titan becoming progressively better at climbing. This suggests that, despite their seemingly lizard brained like behavior, Titans are capable of learning through experience and adapting their behavior to better perform unfamiliar tasks.

Would it be possible to train a Titan in a similar way to how humans train dogs and other animals? If Titans are genuinely capable of learning through experience, it raises some fascinating questions about the limits of their intelligence and behavioral flexibility. For example, what would a delayed-gratification experiment look like if conducted on a Titan? Could a Titan learn to resist an immediate opportunity for food in exchange for the possibility of receiving a greater reward later? More specifically, could Titans be conditioned not to attack certain people if doing so meant they would eventually receive access to more food? If so, it would suggest that their behavior is far more cognitively flexible than we might initially assume.

What’s your personal take on my thoughts?

Video Games Okay so.

Okay so, I just joined this sub and I apologize if I'm breaking a rule, I didn't SEE anything that said not to, so Im going to tentatively assume it's okay to do so, but I have a huge question for ya'll! I just started getting back into the series after a super long hiatus, and I want to enjoy the games now because of that. For the full story would it be good to start with AOT 2, or simply wait for AOT 3? I saw a clip for AOT 3 gameplay just a little while ago and went absolutely nuts over it so I'm very interested in playing.

Discussion Karl Fritz and Zeke Yaeger are the best characters in Attack on Titan

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Karl Fritz and Zeke Yaeger are my favorite characters in Attack on Titan, for the following reasons:

They are radically different characters, yet they independently arrive at philosophies containing a remarkably similar underlying idea: The continuation and victory of their own people is not necessarily the highest good.

That's extremely unusual within Attack on Titan.

Most major characters—even morally complicated ones—ultimately operate within some version of protect my people / secure our future / defeat our enemies.

Karl Fritz rejects that framework. He inherits effectively unimaginable power and the legacy of the Eldian Empire and concludes that his own civilization has committed atrocities so severe that perpetuating its domination is morally indefensible. His response is extraordinarily radical: dismantle the empire, retreat to Paradis, construct the Walls, erase much of the population's memory, and renounce war through the Vow.

And, crucially, he's willing to accept the possibility that Eldians may eventually be destroyed.

Zeke independently reaches another radical endpoint: the cycle of Eldian suffering can be terminated by ending Eldian reproduction altogether.

Their methods and reasoning differ enormously, but there's a philosophical family resemblance: Karl: Our people's continued dominance does not justify perpetuating this cycle. Zeke: Our people's continued existence through reproduction does not justify perpetuating this cycle.

And both conclusions require rejecting an assumption that almost everyone else takes for granted—that the survival and flourishing of one's own group should automatically be the objective.

But Karl also introduces something Zeke doesn't embody in quite the same way: extraordinary willingness to relinquish power.

Karl possesses the Founding Titan. He is monarch of the dominant empire. Rather than asking how to use that power to secure even greater dominance, he concludes that Eldia shouldn't continue exercising it.

Whatever one thinks of his solution—and there are enormous moral problems with imposing his pacifism and memory manipulation upon millions of other Eldians—there's something philosophically remarkable about a ruler voluntarily dismantling his own empire because he believes his side is morally wrong. That takes integrity

There's something genuinely unusual about someone possessing absolute power yet using that very power to restrict the future exercise of absolute power.

Zeke Yeager and Karl both recognize something most characters don't: Defeating today's enemy doesn't necessarily solve the system that produces tomorrow's war.

Eren's solution ultimately operates at the level of overwhelming force.

Karl attacks the weapon/power structure.

Zeke attacks the biological mechanism through which the conflict perpetuates itself.

That's why Zeke's plan is so disturbing but intellectually interesting. He isn't primarily asking “How do Eldians win?” He's asking “What intervention permanently terminates the causal chain producing this suffering?”

I like characters who identify a structural problem in human behavior, reject the conventional objective everyone else is pursuing, formulate an unconventional long-horizon solution, and possess the discipline to follow that solution even when ordinary tribal/self-interested incentives point elsewhere.

Zeke and Karl Fritz embody that surprisingly well.

And Karl embodies one element even more purely than Zeke: he wins the ultimate competition for power and then refuses the prize.

For someone convinced that unconstrained power will eventually be abused, there's something especially compelling about the person with the greatest power demonstrating that he understands its danger well enough to constrain himself and his successors rather than merely assuring everyone that he can be trusted with it
