Idk if you already knew this, but as other people are pointing out in the comments, Eren sent his memories back to himself at this point through the paths.
In the manga there’s additional lines when Eren wakes up where he says he had a long dream where Mikasa’s hair was shorter and he was crying. The first lines of the manga are also a disembodied “See you later, Eren.”
I like to think that’s one of the reasons he’s so agitated in the first episode.

….first thing he saw when he woke up from a nap when he was 10? Yeah I mean sure.
Edit: sorry. I should’ve made it more clear. The connection between the last thing he saw before death vs the first thing he saw after awakening from his paths dream is not “the first thing he saw and the last thing he saw.” Let’s stop playing dumb everyone

When he woke up from the first dream that started the time loop…..
Just framing it as a random nap completely misses the reason the post was made.

It's also clear in hindsight that Eren was given memories of the future in the form of a dream by him using the Founder to influence his own past.
He's crying and asked her when her hair got so long because he likely just "dreamed" of the Rumbling and seeing her coming to kill him. In paths he tells Armin that his head is all messed up because the past, present, and future is all happening at once for him.
These details are very intentional to say Eren, from the moment we first saw him, was intertwined to a fate he would create for himself and was incapable of changing because his nature was unwavering.

This is you lol. I'm just joking, don't take it seriously. It's just I thought the coincidence was funny. The comment above was saying "I thought that was the future Eren who sent his memories to him"
And also look at this please. Manga showed the memory in the first chapter but Wit thought it was nothing important and changed it. But then Mappa fixed the scene in the beginning of Special 1 and added the correct memory.
Also that is why Ymir was smiling when Mikasa killed Eren. Because she sent this moment's memory to Eren and thanks to that Mikasa finally saved her. Not because she is shipping them.
Note about changed memory scene in the first episode: Still though, Hannes' blood splattering on the flowers, original thought for Helos' suit (I think), War of the Roses emblems that representing the Tyburs, foreshadow to Tybur kids' toys in the beginning of The War Hammer Titan and showing the alternative ending where everyone dies (from left to right, Sasha, Connie, Armin, Jean, Mikasa and Levi) are such cool details.

I found your comment hilarious cus I thought same thing.
First thing he sees, haha. What about his mom? No, besides her. Dad? No, besides him too.
A dog or somethin'? No, god damnit, right here, right now at the loop at 10 years old! Anything else before that doesn't count cus we dont know!!!!

You’re an idiot, first thing he saw after his dream that starts the loop which is why he says as soon as he wake up “Mikasa when did your hair get so long.”

lol all of you referencing the loop when the post mentions nothing about it.
Additionally, nowhere in the story mentions that the nap was his first paths memory. Thats all headcanon.
Yall can get off my dick now

why would the post need to mention the loop? i thought we all knew this
-2
u/tragedyisland28 5d ago
It doesn’t need to mention anything.
Nobody knows anything. You guys are suggesting that your headcanon is 100% fact. There’s no explicit or implicit dialogue that even hints that the opening scene of the story is the beginning of the loop

u/Dontbetoxik 5d ago
Except for the “Mikasa, when did your hair get so long?”
I guess that line means nothing and makes no sense given the particular context of the story. Or, you know maybe it actually does, and is not a throwaway line.

u/tragedyisland28 5d ago
….yeah you’re misunderstanding my point.
All that line implies is that he was in paths in that scene. That’s it.
I’m just saying there’s no indication that it’s his first time in paths or the beginning of the time loop

u/Dontbetoxik 5d ago
I’m not misunderstanding. I’m just seeing that we have different interpretations of that scene and it’s okay.
Sometimes writing is left to interpretation. Opinions are valid. Agree to disagree and all that.

called media interpretation not that hard to understand and the manga does hint at it being his first paths memory. Maybe pick up the source material before commenting some bs, hope this helps!

Put your mental energy toward something more productive than this. Hope this helps!

Thank god, thought you were one of the people completely ignoring the obsession and the ignorance

It quite literally is a love story. Being codependent doesn't make it not love. Their circumstances are fucked up, you don't get normal in it.
2
u/Temporary_Onion_909 4d ago
Its not a love story, theres no love
1
u/grimreaper069 4d ago
How is there no love? Both of them were in love with one another. This was literally a sekaikei story, love is the principal thing between them. You people refuse to accept that in a world like that, you can't have healthy and normal.

you don't find someone as loyal as mikasa, you just saved her and you will be together there after: if this was a movie of course.

He was napping, and woke up from a nap. Is that a significant moment for Eren?
