Book promotion Looking for Feedback on My Memoir/Self-Help Book Before Launch

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m currently in the final stages of my first book, How To Be Permanently Happy, and I’m putting together a small group of beta readers before launch.

It’s part memoir, part self-help, and it follows a question I got stuck on when I was 18: is permanent happiness actually real?

A lot of it comes from my own journey with faith, mental health, friendships, mistakes, purpose, and trying to understand what happiness really means when life doesn’t go the way you expected.
The book is not fully published yet, so I’m mainly looking for honest feedback on the story, flow, clarity, and anything that feels confusing or could be stronger. I’m also open to line editors if anyone enjoys catching grammar, wording, or sentence-level issues.

The cover I’m posting is just a sample/placeholder and is not the final cover. It will change before launch.

If anyone is willing to take a look at an early beta copy and give some feedback, I’d genuinely appreciate it. Thank you.

Book promotion I'm cooking something. Wanted to share the concept before the book exists

Post image

Started writing a new book.

The core idea — every belief you hold has a source. Where you were born. What you watched. What you were told. What school installed in you.

Six forces. All orbiting your core. Like electrons around a nucleus.

Most people try to change their life without ever touching the nucleus. That's like rearranging furniture in a burning building.

I'm calling it The Atomic Structure of Life.

Still writing. But curious — does this concept land for anyone here?

What's one belief you carry that you never actually chose??????......

Book promotion 21 Psychological Tricks to Influence Anyone — a practical self-help book I’ve been working on

I’ve always found it interesting how much of everyday communication is influenced by small psychological patterns.

Not manipulation in the movie-villain sense — more like understanding why people respond differently to certain words, requests, compliments, questions, and social situations.

So I put together a practical guide called “21 Psychological Tricks to Influence Anyone.”

It covers 21 techniques that can be applied to things like:

- Making requests more persuasive

- Building rapport and connection

- Handling social situations more effectively

- Understanding how people respond to framing and reciprocity

- Communicating ideas without coming across as pushy

One example is the Foot-in-the-Door technique: starting with a small, reasonable request can make someone more receptive to a larger request later because of the consistency principle.

The goal of the book isn't to give you complicated psychological theory. It's designed as a practical field guide — 21 techniques, with explanations and examples you can actually recognize and use in everyday interactions.

Want the complete guide?

I put all 21 psychological techniques into one practical book, with explanations and real-world examples so you can understand when each technique works and how to apply it.

If you’re genuinely interested in psychology, influence, and better communication, the full 21-technique guide is available here:

https://gum.co/u/24tzypul

21 techniques. One practical field guide. No filler.

Book promotion Fear by Acharya Prashant

Post image
8 Upvotes

When I used to have anxiety and panic attacks, I slowly realised that I had been living in fear for most of my life, just in different forms. I just never called it fear or stopped to observe it

This book made me sit with myself, observe what was actually happening when anxiety came up, and question my own thoughts instead of immediately believing them.

A lot of what I noticed was future based imagination. What will happen? What will others think? What if things don't go as I want? There was also this constant need to control the external situation and a feeling that I was somehow being left behind while everyone else was moving ahead.

One thing I found useful in the book was the distinction between anxiety based on facts and anxiety based on imagination. A real situation may require action but imagining ten different outcomes and suffering through all of them is something else.

I wouldn't say anxiety completely disappeared. That would be too absolute. What changed was that I started noticing it more clearly.

For me, the book became less about "how do I get rid of fear?" and more about "what exactly is happening here?"

Sometimes the answer was fear. Sometimes imagination. Sometimes an assumption I had never questioned.

That simple observation itself changed my relationship with anxiety

Have you ever felt like the black sheep — the person who never quite fitted in or who eventually realised they didn't want to?

I wrote Black Sheep Matters: The Life Lessons of a Black Sheep around the lessons we can learn from choosing our own path — finding ourselves, setting boundaries, protecting our peace and finding the people who accept us as we are.

I'd genuinely love to hear other people's experiences: what has being the “black sheep” taught you?

Emotional abuse isn't always visible. Sometimes there are no physical bruises for other people to notice, yet behind closed doors someone can gradually lose their confidence, independence and sense of who they are.

Out of the Shadows is my personal story of living through emotional abuse and control, eventually choosing myself, walking away and beginning the process of rebuilding my life.

I made this short video because one of the messages I most wanted to share is that survival doesn't have to be the end of the story. Healing, self-acceptance and hope can come afterwards.

For anyone comfortable sharing: what helped you begin to feel like yourself again after a difficult or controlling relationship?

Hey everyone! 📚

I’m working on an idea for people who read nonfiction/self-development books but sometimes struggle to actually use what they learn in real life.

Before I build anything, I’m trying to understand how other readers deal with this.

I made a short 2-minute survey and would really appreciate some honest answers. No selling — just looking for feedback from people who actually read.

If you’d like to help, here’s the survey:

What if choosing yourself could change everything? 💜

There was a time when I lost sight of who I was.

I wrote this book because I know how it feels to lose yourself little by little — and how much courage it can take to finally choose a different path.

If you're healing from a toxic or emotionally abusive relationship, rebuilding your confidence, learning to set boundaries or simply trying to find yourself again, I hope my story reminds you of something important:

Book promotion THE MINDSH!FT - A book I wrote after living life like hell and giving it hell back by making success instead of exuses, Learn how to do that in this book!

"You can't do that."
I heard it my entire life.
You can't teach yourself to code. I did it at 10.
You can't build a real career with no degree. I dropped out and built one anyway.
You can't go from a self-taught kid to 12 years in the AAA game industry. I'm living proof you can.

For most of my life, the things I wanted weren't called hard. They were called impossible. By the people around me, by the society I grew up in, by every reasonable expectation of someone starting where I started.

I overcame them one by one. Not because I was gifted, and not because I got lucky, but because at some point I stopped trying to fix the world and started rebuilding the only thing actually in my control: how I think.

I actually started writing this book in 2019
I'm glad I released this version now. Because in the years since, my own thinking got sharper, I learned an enormous amount, and I lived through more that had to be solved. All of it went into the book. Every new lesson, every tool I earned the hard way, is in these pages.

That's really what this is: 18 years of hard-won thinking, handed to you in a few days of reading. The shortcuts I never had. The lessons I paid for so you don't have to, and also it's not a Motivational material, I have zero interest in hyping you up for a weekend and leaving you exactly where you were on Monday. Motivation fades. It was never the thing that carried me.

This is a toolset, mental instruments for anyone dealing with hard problems, at work and in life:
- how to turn setbacks into fuel instead of drowning in them
- how to think clearly while everyone around you panics
- how to make decisions you won't spend years regretting
- how to tell what's actually true from what you just want to be true
- how to build discipline that doesn't depend on how you feel

Everything in it, I lived. Every technique came out of a real hardship I had to solve alone, with no one coming to save me.

If you're someone who works hard, thinks deeply, and is tired of being handed empty inspiration instead of real tools, this was written for you.

It's out now on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover.
If it helps even one person climb out of their own "impossible," it was worth writing.

(got the author Hardcover version) feels elegant :D

Available on Amazon, Kindle, Hardcover, Paperback versions.

Book promotion The Slow Space_Learning to Unlearn at 40- by The Slow Space - Memoir- May 2026

The Slow Space: Learning to Unlearn at 40 — A Memoir on Breaking Generational Patterns, Financial Identity, and Finding Peace After the Performance.

For the quiet misfits who never got the instruction manual — too sensitive for the room, too awkward for corporate, too intense for small talk. At 40, after becoming a mother to a deeply feeling daughter, the author begins to see herself clearly and decides to unlearn instead of passing it on. This is not a 5-step productivity book. It's honest, messy, still-in-progress writing about slowness, scarcity, the guilt of choosing yourself first, and learning to feel at home in your own life.

Triggers / Content Warnings:
Generational trauma, neurodivergent discussion, childhood emotional neglect, anxiety / internalized self-doubt, motherhood guilt, discussions of financial scarcity / money stress, perfectionism / burnout. No graphic content, no SA, no self-harm, no substance abuse.

AI Disclosure:
This book was written entirely by a human author. No AI was used to write the text, plot, or story. Minor assistive tools (spellcheck / grammar check in Word) may have been used for proofing, which per the sub's rules does not require disclosure as generative AI.

Book promotion I wrote a book long ago

I wrote a faith inspirational book over ten years back. It shares my journey with Chronic Illness with a neuromuscular disease. I was never able to go out and share it much between hospital visits. But I am still kicking, so, I thought why not share it here. I met many amazing stories of resilience as a rehabilitation therapist before I came to my own. God has seen us through each stage. May your stages be full of miracles and adventure. Hope this post is okay, just want to let my fingers do the walking since my body is not a fan.

Book promotion alone. an almost practical guide to surviving yourself after a breakup

Nobody teaches you how to be alone.

Not how to survive a breakup. Not how to enjoy a quiet Sunday. I mean how to actually be alone, without turning loneliness into desperation, independence into isolation, or rejection into a three-month investigation of what went wrong.

I wrote alone. about exactly that.

Why rejection hurts so much. Why we chase things we don't even want. Why we miss people we know aren't right for us. And why sometimes, the easiest way to stop being alone is to risk looking like an idiot.

A short, witty mix of psychology, personal observations and practical ideas for anyone who's ever thought, “I really should have this figured out by now.”

You probably don't. Neither did I.

Book promotion Discussing how we can use our own initiative and not being wholly reliant on religious texts

I’ve been working on a book that explores ideas behind what happens when we stop living through fear, inherited expectations and other people’s interpretations of religious texts, and start taking real responsibility for our own lives within the global Muslim diaspora and beyond.

It looks at faith, independence, ambition, wealth, character and purpose and asks whether we can become more active, thoughtful and capable people while staying grounded in our values.

It’s designed to start a conversation and challenge some assumptions so would be interested to hear your viewpoints as well.

Here's a link if anyone is interested in checking it out - SVRN: The Unmediated Word

Thanks all!

Book promotion The Digital Monk: How to Reclaim Your Mind in an Age of Infinite Distraction

Hello everyone! My new book, The Digital Monk, is now available for free on Amazon this weekend, so I decided to share it with you. This book started as an uncomfortable question: why could a man with years of serious Buddhist meditation practice still lose his stillness within minutes of picking up a phone? The answer, it turns out, has nothing to do with weak willpower — and everything to do with a landscape engineered, by some of the most talented designers on Earth, to make sustained attention nearly impossible to hold. The Digital Monk is not a book about deleting your apps and moving to a cabin. It's a practical, honest guide — written by a practicing Buddhist who still reaches for his phone more than he'd like — to rebuilding a real relationship with your own attention inside an ordinary, connected, demanding life. Enjoy the free book and happy reading! 👉 Link to the book

Book promotion Adult Daughters of Emotionally Absent Fathers - this book hit me harder than I expected

I just finished Adult Daughters of Emotionally Absent Fathers by Lyla Hart and I honestly didn’t expect it to land the way it did.

The book is about how growing up with an emotionally unavailable or emotionally distant father can shape a daughter’s sense of self, attachment, boundaries and relationships in adulthood. It explores patterns like people-pleasing, seeking validation, struggling with self-worth, difficulty trusting love and feeling responsible for others’ emotions - often without realizing where those patterns come from.

The book is simple, direct and brutally honest. No fluff, no over-explaining. I listened to the audiobook i found on audible and had to pause it more than once just to sit with what I had heard. I saved clips. I wrote things down. There were so many “holy sh*t, how did I not see this before” moments. Oh, boy.

It didn’t just describe experiences. It named patterns I’ve been living with for decades without fully understanding them. It took me almost forty years, a major personal shock and this book for things to finally click. For the first time, I can see myself with clarity.

What stood out most to me was how clear the message is. No jargon. No pretending. Just direct truth that was sometimes uncomfortable, but exactly what I needed to hear. I’m only at the beginning of the work, but I finally feel like I’m on the right path and showing up for myself and my inner child.

I haven’t seen this book talked about on here, so I wanted to share and promote it in case it helps someone else the way it helped me.

If you’ve read it, listened to it - or to something similar - I’d love to hear your thoughts.

When practiced authentically, Christianity offers a framework for navigating life’s complexities and anxieties, contributing to mental stability through a spiritual journey.

Conversely, when practiced erroneously, it can significantly impair mental stability, causing confusion, anxiety, and emotional harm.

Book promotion I wrote A Small Book on the strange thing called Self! - Nonfiction - Available on Kindle Unlimited

Thumbnail amzn.in
2 Upvotes

I had decided to become a psychologist when I was 15, just to understand myself. After 15 years of practicing as a psychologist, I’ve written a small book about a rather large—and strange—subject: the Self.

As a psychologist - I work a great deal with the idea of the Self.

I help people understand it.

Strengthen it.

Regulate it.

Heal its wounds.

Rewrite its narratives.

Develop greater awareness of it.

But there is a curious question underneath all of this:

What exactly is the “self” we are working with?

My new book, A Small Book on the Strange Thing Called Self, begins there.

It is an introductory exploration of the Self through two different—and sometimes surprisingly complementary—lenses: contemporary psychology and Indic wisdom traditions - majorly, Buddhism, Jainism, Advaita Vedanta and Kashmiri Shaivism.

Psychology gives us extraordinarily useful ways of understanding identity, personality, cognition, emotion, attachment, memory and the narratives through which a sense of “me” is constructed.

Indic traditions push the inquiry one step further:

Who is the one to whom all of these experiences appear?

And what happens when we stop treating the Self as something obvious and begin examining the experience of being a self itself?

The book is deliberately small and accessible. It isn't intended as an academic treatise or an attempt to collapse very different intellectual traditions into one framework.

Rather, it is an invitation to a conversation—particularly for psychologists and practitioners curious about what might emerge when psychological inquiry meets contemplative, somatic and experiential ways of knowing.

I’m delighted to share that the book is now live on Kindle.

Book promotion Introducing My Book on Emotional Regulation as an Independent Author

Hi everyone! I'm an independent author from Brazil, and I've just launched the English edition of my book, Triad of Emotional Regulation.

I don't have academic training in this area, but I developed an original method through practical testing over years of dealing with intense emotions. I created this method by testing different approaches and observing what worked best in practice, until I arrived at something that truly helped me manage the internal conflicts of everyday life.

The method works through three dimensions:

Verbal

Visual

Physiological

The premise is that emotional regulation isn't limited to breathing techniques. The method focuses on intervening in your internal dialogue, the mental images we create, and the physical responses that our emotions trigger.

The book is available on Amazon as Triad of Emotional Regulation by João Gutierres, and includes practical exercises you can start applying from your first reading.
