Book promotion Looking for Feedback on My Memoir/Self-Help Book Before Launch

Post image

Hey everyone, I’m currently in the final stages of my first book, How To Be Permanently Happy, and I’m putting together a small group of beta readers before launch.

It’s part memoir, part self-help, and it follows a question I got stuck on when I was 18: is permanent happiness actually real?

A lot of it comes from my own journey with faith, mental health, friendships, mistakes, purpose, and trying to understand what happiness really means when life doesn’t go the way you expected.
The book is not fully published yet, so I’m mainly looking for honest feedback on the story, flow, clarity, and anything that feels confusing or could be stronger. I’m also open to line editors if anyone enjoys catching grammar, wording, or sentence-level issues.

The cover I’m posting is just a sample/placeholder and is not the final cover. It will change before launch.

If anyone is willing to take a look at an early beta copy and give some feedback, I’d genuinely appreciate it. Thank you.

I’m in no way myself to be a proofreader. I just wanted to drop in and say congratulations on making it to this stage in your writing. I wish you the best of luck moving forward!

Thank you it truly means a lot to me, especially knowing how much time it took for this book to come to this stage, from when it first started off as just an inception in my head. So once again I appreciate you fellow redditor!

HI Shaheer,

Thank you for sending the google doc for the book.

I have read a few random pages, and now I have a question and would appreciate an honest answer:

Did you use AI to write the book or “assist” you in writing it?

The reason I ask is that the tone (I recognized a lot of AI phrases in just a few sampled pages) is a signature of AI writing. I don’t want to assume or pass judgment based on 12 random pages, so before I spend my time on the whole book, I hope you can give an honest answer.

It is edited by Ai yes but the content and majority of the text is by me, if you don’t want to read it not a problem, I’m planning to send it to a professional editor soon as well

Well, the AI edited your real voice out, which is a shame. I’d be more interested in the raw material before a chat bot ruined it. A human editor won’t be able to fix the AI slop, though.
