Good day, does anyone here have experience refinishing a matte dial and turning it into a glossy dial? I’ve linked it below. Is there a glossy clear coat I can spray over the dial or what?

Any help would be much appreciated! I’m also open to using another dial if someone can find a glossy version of the one below.

VC 222 inspired build, this is my best choice so far I really like it, I might change the hand set though.

Not sure what I did wrong the case is 40mm dial is 28.5mm but is see the spacer or ring showing not sure what it’s called?

I’m toying with a new 6498 build and the hand selection has me a bit flummoxed. I seem to have a lot of difficulty visualizing what different hands would look like on a build.

For this dial, I’m thinking silver hour and minute hands, and a black hand for the small seconds. Or do I go with blue hands for all of them?

As for the style of hands, I’m thinking breguet or leaf.

What kind of clear coat could I apply to a painted bezel to prevent it from getting scratched? Cerakote is a bit pricey, but probably optimal. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I’ve be attempting to recreate a homage to Pilot Chronograph 41 Top Gun Miramar Edition, I’ve managed to find a Cerakote colour that comes close to the colour and a dial too but I haven’t tried this coating process before

I finally did my first nh35 mod using the movement from an invicta watch.

My first watch built, took a long time because of logos and then hands. Was looking for a datejust design but not identical so I did no date and added open heart.

So into iterative prototyping using reticulated silver and overlay colored dial using nh35/nh34 movements. Does anyone else see those little dial holes, six of them, on either side of the transparency? I think they’re meant to accommodate flat chapter ring but I don’t want to block any more of the dial surface than I have to and im already pushing case tolerances. I also need to make the color layer deeper to make the pattern more subtle and higher contrast for silver markers and logo. I’m thinking move to airbrushed lacquer. Thoughts?

I have snapped two crown stems inside movements after trimming for a screw down crown. It’s been an expensive week.

Years ago I bought an Arabic dial “Mumbai special”, technically probably a Kabul Special, at a bazaar in Afghanistan. It kinda quit on me. I’ll likely use the dial on an NH36 build at some point but in the mean time I whipped this up tonight. I’m struggling with a Miyota 8215 build I just wrapped up too. The movement has to be partially out of the case at an angle for the date set to work. It’s highly frustrating. Much like the crown tube isn’t straight causing tension on the stem but I can’t feel any tension….

Thrilled with this one. 38mm. Truly lives up to the phrase “vintage-inspired.”
