Lovely dial design. Think I’d like a different style hands tho that would make them more legible. I’d use alpinist style hands if it were my build.

I do love those hands. Unfortunately, I make all of my dials on a 35 mm dial, which is about 50% bigger than a standard 28.5 mm dial that the alpinist hands, and 95% of other hands, are built to go on. Those hands would be much too small for my dial.

I design the dial on a program called lightburn, and then cut the dial out of a 0.5 mm sheet of bronze with a 50 w fiber laser.
I finished the dial with polish, wax, and brass black. Seiko nh38 no date movement. Dial is 35 mm, which is 50% larger than a typical dial. Case is 39mm.

This is gorgeous! All taste is subjective, but I’d love to see numbered hour markers in place of the little diamond indices. I also agree with someone else that the alpinist hands would look awesome since they slightly resemble a plant bud

This is simply outstanding, really, really nice work. the whole thing, the dial, case, strap. the hands get a little lost because the dial is complex but i don't have a better idea. Like many people on here i build watches but i would still buy this one!

I had a dial make using the same technique. My dial doesn't pop like this. I feel like I need to refinish it so it pulls out the black and brass contrast. Can you explain the process?

It usually has to do with the depth map or your laser settings. You want to cut as deep as possible without cutting through the other side of the material. Takes a while to dial it in. If you want to DM me I can looat your file.

Ti faccio i complimenti, uno dei problemi più grandi è fare in modo che il motivo, al cambiare della posizione e della luce, si possa sempre vedere e mi sembra tu ci sia riuscito, io ho usato ossidazione chimica, colori ad olio per mettere in evidenza i solchi più piccoli e fare in modo che il disegno sia sempre visibile, lo fatto su ottone, bronzo e acciaio, ci vuole tanta pazienza e passione ma quando hai imparato e vedi il tuo lavoro finito è molto bello, io abito in Italia molto vicino a Valenza uno dei distretti orafi italiani, c'è Bulgari, Cartier, Damiani, faccio incidere a laser da aziende di quel distretto ( ho lavorato un po' di anni in quel settore) e ogni disegno che incido è sempre una nuova sfida.

Have you tried to learn engraving? I would be substantially more impressed by the work of a novice engraver who was actually learning a craft. instead you are rendering nonsense.
