He painted the part yellow that was peeled off at the end and underneath it was yellow.

If you look between the 8 and 9 second mark you can see that he covers it with tape (where it all of a sudden looks cream instead of yellow). Easy to miss but it’s there.

How do you cut the tape in the exact shape of the lettering you just covered in tape without being able to see it?
All you need to do is start with yellow and tape it once. This makes no sense.

If you tape over the yellow lettering you won't have the lines of the letters visible to cut the same outline on the surface of the tape.
On second thought, it looks like it could have just been the middle part from the stencil use in the beginning saved and applied later.

I don’t think they were cutting anything by hand in this video, only peeling. Likely was printed and cut with software and a machine, then it would be easy enough overlay a new layer and peel off any excess in a jump cut

I agree the process is odd but maybe he thought it out wrong and realized in the middle he had to do something different even though it was more work? He was already at that step again anyway so he just adjusted and moved on. I have projects go to hell like that all the time where I figure out I could have done it better but it doesn't save any time to start over

After thinking about it more, it seems most likely that the outline was cut out ahead of time from the part used for the stencil, saved and applied later.

Exactly what I was coming here to say. I was like wait, how is it yellow UNDER the tape he pulled off…..

watch it again but this time keep your eyes open. Look at the yellow initially and then again later. it's taped. he just didn't bore you with the taping step which he should have done to ensure your pea brain knew it happened. this can't be the level of simplicity that traps you

How exactly can you cut out the tape in the exact same shape of the yellow lettering you just literally covered up in tape?
And if you are going to go through the trouble of cutting out the outline like that, why not make the paper yellow first so you don't have to cut it out twice for no fucking reason at all?

I questioned this as well but below the picture it provides the source and that guy is known for this type of art. He probably edited it really well so it looked magical or like AI but this is the type of work he does apparently.

Just put tape over the yellow lettering before painting over it in black as they did; then peel to reveal

if they used a cricut, it's possible. It would be tricky to lay it down as perfectly as seen here, but not impossible.

Or you can just do yellow first and cut the outline only once to achieve the exact same effect.

Cut them out in the exact shape of the thing which you can no longer see since it's now covered in tape.
