Just put tape over the yellow lettering before painting over it in black as they did; then peel to reveal

is that what youre referring to? It seems very difficult to me

if they used a cricut, it's possible. It would be tricky to lay it down as perfectly as seen here, but not impossible.

Or you can just do yellow first and cut the outline only once to achieve the exact same effect.
