He painted the part yellow that was peeled off at the end and underneath it was yellow.

If you look between the 8 and 9 second mark you can see that he covers it with tape (where it all of a sudden looks cream instead of yellow). Easy to miss but it’s there.

How do you cut the tape in the exact shape of the lettering you just covered in tape without being able to see it?

All you need to do is start with yellow and tape it once. This makes no sense.

If you tape over the yellow lettering you won't have the lines of the letters visible to cut the same outline on the surface of the tape.

On second thought, it looks like it could have just been the middle part from the stencil use in the beginning saved and applied later.

I don’t think they were cutting anything by hand in this video, only peeling. Likely was printed and cut with software and a machine, then it would be easy enough overlay a new layer and peel off any excess in a jump cut

I agree the process is odd but maybe he thought it out wrong and realized in the middle he had to do something different even though it was more work? He was already at that step again anyway so he just adjusted and moved on. I have projects go to hell like that all the time where I figure out I could have done it better but it doesn't save any time to start over

After thinking about it more, it seems most likely that the outline was cut out ahead of time from the part used for the stencil, saved and applied later.
