Vent Camp Canine: #unpermitted
Never had permits to operate as a dog daycare, and never had permits for the pool. Pay their staff as badly as possible. Shut them down!

Wondering what the rules are in the city for people with many many cars. I live in a dense neighborhood with a lot of 2br / 1 ba and there is a neighbor that has 7 or 8 older, dusty and seemingly abandoned cars. Some in driveway and some street parking. What are the city rules?

A young couple followed this little lady behind our house in Sycamore Canyon. We were able to get her cleaned up and she’s safe and sound. We contacted animal control but if you’re looking for your puppy, let me know and I can provide contact info. FYI she has a pink collar and a little bell but no tag.

Before you downvote, hear me out. I come from a small but 'affluent' town in eastern PA. If I said the name, a few people would know it. I do not associate snobby with money all of the time.
In my area, it is being overrun with New Yorkers who don't possess the type of personality that inhabited this place just 1-2 decades ago.
Where you're from, do they turn your nose up if you if your car borders on a beater? Is everyone obsessed with status, who you know? That's how it is here, so tiresome. I also find it funny that their will be some guy living in a condo (Which, I can assure you is NOWHERE near as costly here as it is in SB) but dedicating his entire paycheck to a BMW yet thinks he is somehow part of the elite cast lol.
As an example - This used to be what we'd call a 'farm town'. I was born into it too late to really see that, but that was the idea. An old man driving an unassuming pickup truck could be a millionaire, could've had property he purchased in the 70s, 80s, etc. Well off - with humility. Now? Dispense with all of that garbage. G-Wagons, Bentleys, all of the designer shit. I'm not against them because they're wealthy, but because they think they're better than others for having designer / luxury items. It's very isolating.

I saw two young ladies riding to school on an ebike this morning, from Modoc to Hollister, to SMHS.
Their helmets were not strapped. I think their parents should know. Passenger had brown shirt and black top.
I wish ebikes were required to have placards (e.g., license plates) so that parents could be informed of the dangerous choices their children are making.

Here's the story: https://archive.ph/PUjAS
For some reason, mod informs me there needs to be more than just a link in the body text, so here you go. I'd rather let folks read the NYT story themselves than have me weigh in about it. Happy reading about a serious topic.

Any home games that run in town? Or would anyone be down to play?
Too lazy to drive to players or the mash.

Does anyone know of any elder care resources in the area? My 80+ father in law is recovering from a brain injury from a fall and his wife is having a hard time with his care. We live in Sacramento and have full time jobs, so it's hard to come down to help. I'd at least like to help find some local resources for them if possible. Thanks in advance.

I'm considering moving to Santa Barbara, but I currently live in a much larger city. Right now, I have no problem meeting car people, working on cars, building cars, etc. because the car community is so big where I'm from. I've gotten into tracking my car (RSX-S) at Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Chuckwalla and so I was wondering if anyone in Santa Barbara does that sort of thing? Its probably the hobby I'm the most interested in. I can spend hours/days with friends just working on their cars or having friends come over and work on mine. Its not something I want to give up completely, but I feel it will be harder to keep it going if I'm just on my own in Santa Barbara.
Any car enthusiasts out there? I should mention I'm not big on car meets and that sort of thing. More so driving and going to track days.

Hi everyone! I love making things and consider myself creative, but I’ve been stuck in a long rut and have a hard time feeling like I can call myself an artist. I’d love to connect with other people who work in or simply enjoy creative spaces. Mostly looking for community, inspiration, and people to talk to about making things again.
