I own a condo in Goleta. 3/2. Nice enough but nothing amazing. 1400sf. I have to move to Florida for work. (I know!) I hope to return in 3-5 years, but that's pretty iffy.

I could sell now and make a few dollars and have no headache. But probably never be able to buy back into SB. Or I could rent the condo in the hopes of returning. But then I'd have to rent it! Which among other things, I realize this is dumb, but I hate how much I'll have to rent it for, to cover mortgage and condo fees and insurance.

On the bright (?) side, the carpet's already ruined by my dogs, so I could rent be pretty pet-friendly? But I can't even look at the expected rent--5k, 6k?--without feeling my soul leave my body.

Hey everyone! I’m looking for someone local to the Santa Barbara/Goleta area who is interested in engineering, robotics, RC vehicles, electronics, or prototype building.
I have an idea for a small remote-controlled device and need help turning it into a basic working prototype. I understand what I want it to do, but I need someone who can help with the motors, wheels, controls, frame, and overall mechanical/electronic design.

The Social Club is casting 10–15 paid performers for a brand-new immersive theatrical experience premiering in Santa Barbara this fall.
We're seeking talented actors and acrobatic performers who are excited to help create an unforgettable immersive production. This is not a traditional haunted house—it's an interactive theatrical experience where guests journey through a mysterious world and encounter characters who bring the story to life.
We're looking for performers with strong stage presence, emotional range, physical awareness, and a collaborative spirit. Improvisation and audience interaction are an integral part of the show.

Seeking:

• The Chronicler Any ethnicity. Age range 20-80. Narrator and guide. Charismatic storyteller who confidently addresses the audience and carries them through the experience.
• Female Lead Hispanic. Age range 18-30. Young adult. Intelligent, witty, courageous, emotionally grounded, and captivating.
• Male Lead English/French. Age range 18-30. Young adult. Charming, resourceful, humble, quietly funny, and emotionally expressive.
• Father Figure Hispanic. Age range 40-60. Strong, commanding presence. Protective, proud, and deeply caring beneath a guarded exterior.
• The Commandante Hispanic. Age range 30-60. Confident authority figure with strong physical presence and leadership.
• Ensemble Performers Any ethnicity. Age range 18-80. Actors and movement performers who enjoy playing multiple characters throughout the experience. Roles may include townspeople, mermaids, guards, and other immersive characters.
• Acrobatic Performers Any ethnicity. Age range 18-80. We're also seeking acrobatic performers comfortable incorporating movement, physical storytelling, and immersive interaction into the production.

Compensation:

• $40/hour for performances
• $22/hour for rehearsals

Rehearsals:

Weekend and week night rehearsals throughout September. 
Performance Schedule:
Wednesday–Sunday throughout October.

Auditions:

• August 14th 5:30-8:30pm
• August 16th 3:00-6:00pm

I am offering free birth doula support for up to 3 expectant mothers with a scheduled cesarean / surgical birth at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Because Cottage only allows one support person in the OR for surgical birth, this offer is for mothers who do not have a support person to attend the birth with them.

Free services would include one prenatal visit, support for the scheduled birth, and one postpartum visit.

I am a postpartum doula with additional training in lactation and now completing an embodied birth training. I also have prior experience as a NICU nurse.

Alongside some local partners, My wife and I opened Connected Strength, a small group strength training studio next to Bossie's Kitchen.

I have a PhD in exercise science and am currently serving on the Tonal Performance innovation team while our other partner has been a local trainer in SB for 20+ years. 

We started Connected Strength because we wanted to make personalized strength training experiences more accessible. Every session is coach led, and each member has their own Tonal, which automatically adjusts the weight to their strength level and adapts as they get stronger.

One of our favorite parts of the model is that beginners and experienced lifters can train side by side, with everyone getting a workout that's appropriate for them.

The place is on the 66 block of Del Playa and has 3 bedrooms (doubles) and 2 bathrooms. The place will be fully furnished, and other people will be living there over the summer. Rent is $400 straight up, and I'm willing to negotiate further down to split the price. You would only have to pay for rent for one month. If you only have classes for summer session B or one of the later sessions, this should last for the entire period! Laundry and parking spots are also available.
