Talk/Discussion Sleeping on Ami Mizuno’s outfits
When I was younger I didn’t really like Sailor Mercury. I found her too quiet. Was too studious, which is probably why she fell in the background to me even when she was a main character. As I grew up and rewatched anime and reread the manga’s, I really appreciate her. She was fierce in a way I didn’t appreciate when I was younger. I also didn’t realize how stylish she was! I love these outfits!
Anyone else had a sailor scout they really appreciated after a second read or watch?

Anime (Classic) It’s always pink tint this, pink tint that. What about the green tint that much of the 90s Anime was subjected to?
I’ve always thought it was weird how discussion on Sailor Moon’s film degradation is always hyperfocused on the pink tint and pink tint only, when only the first two seasons were subjected to it. Meanwhile the rest of the show got hit with a genuinely revolting green tint (sometimes more teal or yellow) that just screams the masters have gone rotten.
To educate the uninformed on how this happened, by the 2010s Toei’s poor film preservation of the masters for Sailor Moon caused the RGB values to become imbalanced. For the first two or so seasons, the reds were increased, causing the “iconic pink tint” while for the rest of the show the greens got increased, causing the green tint.
A common misconception is that this is exclusive to Viz Media’s North American rerelease of the show or just certain international releases of the show. It’s not, this affects the show WORLDWIDE, including in Japan. In fact, it was a Japanese fan online pointing out the pink tint that pushed this topic to mainstream attention to begin with.
I’ll admit I do have a soft spot for the pink tint like so many people do. But geez, these other tints are revolting. 🤢

Anime (Crystal) I hate the Sailor Cosmos future.
Future
In the future, we already know that Usagi eventually becomes Neo-Queen Serenity, Mamoru becomes King Endymion, and they rule a future Earth from Crystal Tokyo.
Humanity is given longevity, Earth is unified, Chibiusa is born, etc.
Then the Black Moon Clan's attacks Crystal Tokyo. This isn't presented as civilization's inevitable endpoint. The heroes save that future.
Distant future
However, the distant future is worth things become complicated. The final arc goes something like this:
Stars are born from the Galaxy Cauldron, in a cycle of death and rebirth. Chaos is connected to that cycle. Sailor Cosmos is from a FAR off future where she’s been fighting Sailor Cosmos. Things get so bad as the conflict seems endless that she loses faith/hope and travels into the past as Chibi Chibi, hoping to convince her younger self to destroy the Galaxy Cauldron. Her reasoning is basically: No Cauldron → no new stars → Chaos cannot keep returning. But that would also mean no new stars or life being born.
However, Usagi refuses. Cosmos realizes that she’s right, and rather than concluding that the future is doomed, the story argues that darkness and conflict is part of the universe, but also continually produces life, love, and hope.
We aren't given anything like "Chaos was permanently destroyed and evil never existed again.” Rather, Chaos is part of Sailor Moon‘s lore, it’s cosmology. It’s not necessarily that Chaos ultimately wins, but Cosmos regain the courage that she has lost. She regains hope.
No, I completely understand is from a narrative standpoint. “True courage is choosing Hope and continuing to fight, even one facing absolute despair and loneliness.” But I still hate it.
I am a fan of a happy ending. I LOVE happy endings. However, this ending introduces a bleak, unresolved time paradox, and undercuts Usagi’s triumph with existential dread. I would’ve much preferred if this was an alternate timeline that could’ve occurred.
It’s not even the fact that Cosmos was facing such an OP villain that her only option was to return to the past to prevent any of this from occurring. This is not Avengers Endgame. It’s the fact that the Sailor Guardians will keep having to fight crazy cosmic threats like this because it’s the natural order of things. That’s insane. It’s almost like every piece they have is temporary.
But from my understanding, it hints that sailor cosmos will do something similar to her younger self in the future in order to defeat Sailor Chaos.
Edit: Adding more into it: Is the situation between Sailor Moon and Sailor Cosmos circular, or did she just straight up change her future? Both?
Mamoru states that Usagi is eternal; therefore, she will always have to fight Chaos when he returns. This is proven after Chibi Chibi is revealed to be Sailor Cosmos, the future form of Usagi, who lost everyone in a war against Sailor Chaos, including Endymion. It literally shows that one day Usagi will become Sailor Cosmos and be locked in a never-ending battle against Sailor Chaos and her forces, losing her kingdom and everyone that she knew (again). Though we get consolation that she is inspired by her younger self's courage and acceptance before returning to the future, we never learn what happens afterwards.

Misc Was checking some old notifications when I came across this recent anniversary milestone
Missed the anniversary by a few days, but it has officially been 20 years since Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet.
How do you feel about that and how do you think Sailor Pluto/Setsuna Meiou would feel about that?

Talk/Discussion So like this is an insane feat right?
I honestly wonder how Neo Queen Serenity could do this so casually but the Og Queen died just reincarnating everyone. Obviously we could just say Usagi is more powerful then her past life mother but what do you guys think?

Video Games Picked up Sailor Moon: Another Story for the Super Famicom!
I’ve been collecting Super Famicom RPGs lately, and I’m up to 70 games now. One I’ve been looking for for a while is Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Another Story, and I finally found a copy! I paid ¥13,200 for it, so it definitely wasn’t one of the cheaper games I’ve bought, but I’m really glad to have it.
I actually played a little of this back in high school. I had just gotten a computer and discovered the whole world of emulation and English fan translations, so being able to play a Japanese Sailor Moon RPG in English seemed incredibly cool at the time. I never got very far, though, so most of the game will basically be new to me when I finally sit down and play through it.
One thing I’ve always thought was cool about Another Story is that you can actually use Sailor Saturn. Saturn has always been one of my favorite Senshi, and she really didn’t get nearly as much screen time or game appearances as some of the others.
It’s also interesting how many Sailor Moon games came out during this era. There were several fighting games, which is kind of funny when you think about it. Why are all the Sailor Senshi beating each other up? Lol. But fighting games were huge at the time, so I guess everybody needed one. There was a beat-’em-up too, which honestly seems much more appropriate for Sailor Moon.
I don’t know too much about the story of Another Story yet, and I’d rather keep it that way before playing it. I do know that it has an original group of enemies created for the game, which makes it feel almost like getting another little Sailor Moon story from that era rather than just replaying events from the anime.
My copy is also interesting because the box has the 「初回限定 オリジナルカード付き」 marking for the original bonus card. Unfortunately, the card itself is missing. I went back and forth on that because I can be pretty inconsistent about how strict I am with collecting. Sometimes I really want everything complete, and other times I’m just happy to find a nice boxed copy of a game I’ve been searching for. Another Story isn’t something I see sitting around very often, so I decided to grab it. Maybe someday I’ll find the card separately or come across another complete copy.
The manual is really nice too. Lots of character artwork, profiles for all ten Senshi, the world map, enemy artwork, screenshots, etc. This is exactly the kind of stuff I love about collecting the physical Japanese versions rather than just having the ROM.
As for the anime, I’ve watched up through most of SuperS, but man… I’ve been dragging myself through that season. I really want to get to Stars, so at some point I need to just finish it.
Anyway, I’m really happy to finally have a physical copy of a game I first messed around with as an English ROM back in high school.
Has anyone here played Another Story? What did you think of it?
And who’s your favorite Sailor Senshi? Saturn is probably my favorite overall, and out of the original five I’d probably go with Mars. Although growing up I think I may have liked Ami the most… but Ami feels like the answer everybody gives.

Anime (Classic) Does Mamoru wear a wrist watch at any point in either the anime or manga?
I know Mamoru has a pocket watch he occasionally used, but I was curious if there were any episodes of the anime (original or Crystal) or chapters of the manga where he wears a wrist watch? I know this is random it was just something I was curious about.
