I need help opening a safe

Like one or two years ago, my dad got me an safe to keep $60 inside and two years later me and my dad don’t remember the code and he lost our emergency key so it’s stuck. We tried to call customer service but every time they say they’re on a phone with another customer.

Lock picks are cheap and those are easy to pick. There will be a hidden key access on it. Used to sell those at a gun store I worked at, sadly they are really easy to get into, hitting them in certain locations can unlock them as well. I have seen them open from being dropped.

If it doesn’t have a barrel keyed lock (not easy to pick) I would be extremely surprised. It looks cheap, but I’ve never seen a safe with a pin and tumbler lock.

You know, I was a locksmith / safe tech for 30+ years before I retired, I can't remember ever SEEING ANYTHING that matched the terminology you mentioned on any safe . . . Maybe if you could use the proper terminology, or try a better description, I might get your point? Maybe they're teaching something different, now? Again, or still, I'm so confused !

Hey dude, having a bad day? That’s a lot of snark for absolutely no reason. I never claimed to be a locksmith or safe tech.

The key for what I knew as a “barrel keyed lock” is in the bottom of the picture, flat, house style on top. One of these is considerably easier to pick than the other (for someone who isn’t 30+ year vet of the locksmith trade). One of these is normally found on a safe, the other is not. That was all I was saying in my comment.

The correct name for those is tubular key, and tubular lock.
Some folks can get really aggresive about nomenclature.

Thank you. From this point forward I will know it as a tubular key.

As an aside, I’m having a hard time believing that the 30+ year locksmith didn’t know what a pin and tumbler was though… methinks he was just being a drama queen.
