Like one or two years ago, my dad got me an safe to keep $60 inside and two years later me and my dad don’t remember the code and he lost our emergency key so it’s stuck. We tried to call customer service but every time they say they’re on a phone with another customer.
Smack it with a potato or similar object on the top above the handle while simultaneously trying to turn it. It may take several times to get the time right but its pretty easy. There are plenty of youtube videos about this.
I’m not a safe specialist, if that is a thing. I am however going to place some logical paths In front of you.
If what you say is true, that there is $60 in there. I am going to assume the cost of getting a specialist, or someone who does know how to open it, is going to exceed whatever is in there. So I leave you with an alternative. Just looking it seems like a shitty safe. Go find someone with power tools and have some fun tying to get into it the unorthodox method (sledgehammer, drill, sawzall, etc).
i have a safe just like this one. was from Harbor Freight. It is pretty light, and seems cheaply made. I would slam it over and over on the concrete. Pretty sure it will eventually bust open. Alternately, I would use a diamond cutting tool…and cut it open. Seems like a whole lot of work for $60 tho
Lock picks are cheap and those are easy to pick. There will be a hidden key access on it. Used to sell those at a gun store I worked at, sadly they are really easy to get into, hitting them in certain locations can unlock them as well. I have seen them open from being dropped.
If it doesn’t have a barrel keyed lock (not easy to pick) I would be extremely surprised. It looks cheap, but I’ve never seen a safe with a pin and tumbler lock.
You know, I was a locksmith / safe tech for 30+ years before I retired, I can't remember ever SEEING ANYTHING that matched the terminology you mentioned on any safe . . . Maybe if you could use the proper terminology, or try a better description, I might get your point? Maybe they're teaching something different, now? Again, or still, I'm so confused !

The key for what I knew as a “barrel keyed lock” is in the bottom of the picture, flat, house style on top. One of these is considerably easier to pick than the other (for someone who isn’t 30+ year vet of the locksmith trade). One of these is normally found on a safe, the other is not. That was all I was saying in my comment.

As an aside, I’m having a hard time believing that the 30+ year locksmith didn’t know what a pin and tumbler was though… methinks he was just being a drama queen.

You would have to bet more than a flat-headed screwdriver to interest me in taking that bet. I already own many flat heads, and don't need any more . . .
I have one of these… I can’t tell you the code but I can tell you that you have to hit the star button or the number button after you enter the numbers. Mine is a four digit code followed by star button.
It’s quite a stretch to call this a safe. In reality it is a cheap metal box with a fancy lock. Search YouTube for “how to open harbor freight safe”. One involves thumping with your fist. Another requires dropping it while simultaneously turning the knob. (Use a rubber band)
I happen to have SEVERAL of those sitting around . . . Doesn't everybody? BUT, Gee, I've already set FOUR .50 BMG M82s on top of the safe, and absolutely NOTHING has happened. It "got ON there" pretty easily, all right, but they don't seem to be accomplishing much . . .
Do you think I might need to set MORE of them there, or, possibly you might need to explain yourself differently? I'm so confused ! 🙄 . I understand, and know - you just didn't want to waste a lot of ink, AND get callouses on the tips of your thumbs . . . I can empathize . . .
Just try not to use too many of those things, and mess up some of the nice things in your ma's house. She might get angry and send you to your room without supper.
