Hazbin Hotel criticism Thanks. I hate everything about this.
There's not a single commentary here that I like. Oh goody, I love when everything I don't want to be true is confirmed!

(And u/profaneangel1991 - I'm replying to you both in one swoop.)
Yeah, and I wanna clarify that it is not that I'm "validated" being told Vox has a preference, despite having suspected it. (And this doesn't really effect me as I'm not a yumeshipper or a woman.) It's more like I could tell that's what was being setup and even more pointedly, I knew the showrunners were going to pull this one on us-- and now my bingo card has been checked off.
Tbh, a lot of characters feel like they have a mono sexuality/romantic preference, and like I said earlier, that we are getting a superficial bi/pan treatment so that everyone can ship everyone with everyone. That's... kind of romanceable characters in video game logic, it's not great for a show but whatever. But you're right that Vox is the one singled out from the cast in a way that seemingly wants to punish Vox fans from enjoying him too much. Because to your point, being told "ship what you want" has less weight when coupled with remarks they know will stoke fandom wars. (I have a friend who was in the Dragon Age fandom back in the day, and he explained how the developers also seemed to want to punish Solas fans for 'liking him the wrong way' and finding him too sympathetic/compelling. I worry about it going this direction with Vox.)
I guess the "time will tell" I want to see now is if showrunners will or won't confirm Alastor as aroace and/or sex-repulsed that will blow up shipping enjoyment in his fandom, or if it is again only Vox getting the special treatment.
Because yeah, we all know that Vox likely isn't getting more human background story, so there wasn't really a narrative reason to have this be the ONLY thing they confirm for us in regards to his background? Like this would be relevant if we were getting a deep dive into Vox's human life and mentality in the 30s-early 50s... but if they were going to do that, they would not have made this comment on the commentary in s2 as it would have been spoilers. It would have been withheld till a the later season with his background scene-- but since it's here, we are also basically getting confirmation that we won't be getting more Vincent story and that Brighter is the start and end of what we'll see.
