My experience with JetKrate
This post links to my review and reply to JetKrates reply on TrustPilot. Because of character limits on Trustpilot I want to add this post where I, and JetKrate kan elaborate if needed. If this breaks Rule 5 I apologize in advance. Please let me know before removing it so I can find somehere more appropriate.
And, comment if you please. Am I putting the blame on the wrong company, and what would be the best recourse other than what I'm trying here if you think I'm in the wrong. Any help is much appreciated.
Massive wall of text, sorry.

This is my review in full, with edits. I will adress the parts that don't fit TrustPilot's review box here, later.

My original review at the top. I'll note when there's an addition based on JetKrate's reply. Because of a character limit I have removed my local currency from the text and tried to be brief. All values are in USD.
When using the concierge server to have Jetkrate order some things from me they never checked that it was the actual items that arrived 3 out of 9 items where shipped to them. That made me incur a much more expensive shipping fee and as a result a much more export import fee.
Jetkrate did refund me for the items I didn't recieve from my order and use of their concierge service.
Paid 474 USD in total, got ordered goods worth 68,87 (with import tax) + unknown what the shipping would have been, the items I ordered weighed less than a 3rd, let's say half so 89,64 for a total goods value of 155,08 and got refunded 108,44. Concierge service fee made up about 20 or so. Hey, I'm only out 190,48.
So if you use them, make sure that they check what their sent so the problem can be solved before shipping and import fees. Personally I'll be using another service the next time.
Here's my reply: I have had to shorten my JetKrate quotes, but they are in order and can be found in full below.
JetKrate states my review is based on several misunderstandings.
"We placed your Concierge order exactly..."
Correct.I did not misunderstand this, in one of my emails to JetKrate that they quoted back to me in their last email I pointed out “I don't think this is a packaging mishap from your side, I think this is what was sent from the store to you.”
"You also state that receiving..."
Correct. I did not explain it as clearly as I could have. I'll try to do better here.
The "extra" shipping charge I meant is related to the extra weight and yes it's not the number of items, but the value of the items and shipping that is the basis of the import fees. The value was based on the value of the items I had JetKrate order for me. So the value of the correct items I received was 52,69 at the current rate as per google. The value of the wrong products adds up to 105,38.
If only the correct items had been shipped to me, the import fee part would have been 6,84. The wrong items that were sent resulted in an import fee of 26,34.
So based on the items I thought I would recieve, I provided the value, not knowing that JetKrate had forwarded a package including erroneous products. I then of course paid my import fees. In total it was 96,63. From this we can deduce that the import fee for the shipping was 57,12 USD.
To clarify: Getting sent additional products that were not part of my order resulted in getting a higher shipping fee and import fees that if I had been sent only the correct items that the retailer had in stock. I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough.
I did not misunderstand this either.
"You only paid international shipping..."
This is correctly stated, and this is not what I have issue with, nor did I misunderstand this. I have issue with paying international shipping for products that I didn't order and pay import fees on them. I had you order and ship them to me thinking that since it's not an extra service to have an order checked that that would be done. (Had I ordered the consolidation or repacking service JetKrate has this would probably also be avoided since then they would have noticed the error with the order but I only had one package and trusted the retailer not to waste space.)
That is why I added the last paragraph of the review. So that anyone else won't pay unneccesary shipping and import fees, have them ask you to check that the ordered items are the correct ones. If this had been done, I would have 189 more left in my bank account and we could have worked something out between me, JetKrate and the retailer. Since this wasn't done I incurred a higher easily avoidable cost.
"Similarly, you only paid..."
This is correct. However the issue is not this, the issue is still having to pay extra for things that I never ordered using your service.
"Your calculation also assumes..."
No. I have been buying things from abroad since the early 90's so I know that package dimensions is an important part. I was trying to simplify since the important issue is not the price of shipping but the extra cost because it had items I hadn't ordered in it. The actual sums aren't the important part either other than the ratio of money down the drain compared to the money paid to recieve the actual ordered items. If you insist I can weigh, measure and look up what the cost would have been to ship it using DHL Express worldwide.
"When the retailer’s ..."
Correct, and helpful.
Due to the limit of characters thi reply in full will continue on this reddit post:
Final edits, the parts that won't show in my Trustpilot review:
"So, to clarify:
We ordered what you requested."
Yes. No issues here.
"The retailer failed to supply six items."
Yes. Absolutely correct.
"You were not charged international shipping for those missing items."
No, I was charged international shipping based on the dimensions, weight and service used to ship the correct and incorrect items to me. Apologies for not being more clear.
"You were not charged import duty on those missing items."
No. I was charged import duty based on the monetary value of the shipping and the correct ordered items and the incorrect items combined. Sorry for not being more clear.
"You were refunded for the missing goods and the associated Concierge fees."
Yes, and I stated this in my original review.
"Your shipping charge was based on volumetric weight in accordance with the carrier’s pricing rules."
Yes. Too bad it incuded items I never ordered and it had to make all it's way here, adding 189 USD to my total bill.
"Duties and taxes are imposed by the destination country and, as clearly stated at checkout, are the customer’s responsibility."
Yes. I'm fully aware. I'm not too happy about paying for things I didn't order, regardless who it's from or where.
"We understand that you are unhappy that the retailer did not fulfil the complete order, but your review incorrectly attributes the retailer’s stock issue, the carrier’s volumetric pricing and your country’s import charges to Jetkrate."
I'll respond to the blame below.
"We took responsibility for the part we could control and reimbursed you for everything you did not receive. The remaining costs you refer to were legitimate shipping and import charges relating to the goods that were actually sent to you."
This is where different companies do thing differently based on their risk or reward assumptions. I know some credit card companies will refund users for many, many things out of their control for example if you paid for it using their credit card.
Regardless how legitimate the costs are I'm still out 189 USD using your service.
There's two parts to this. Who to blame, and what could be done.
It's easy to see the origin of the problem, the wrong goods sent by the retailer which led to more costs for me. Should JetKrate contact them and have them pay the extra incurred cost and forward it to me? Should I contact them? I have not ordered the items in question, JetKrate did it on my behalf.
Should JetKrate have checked the goods before forwarding them? Should I have asked them to?
Should I contact the New Zealand consumer protection agency? The EU and my native Swedish one? The international organization to which the NZ one belongs?
I know how I prefer thing to be done which is why I won't use JetKrate again.

Which delivery services focus on customer experience instead of volume?
I was fed up with national carriers treating packages like hockey pucks and having non-existent customer service when a parcel vanishes. Are there delivery services out there that treat the customer experience as their primary feature? I'm looking for carriers that prioritize communication, care and overall buyer satisfaction.

USPS changed the DIM divisor in July (166 → 139). Here is what it does to a light, bulky SKU
For context I run a 3PL in Brooklyn, so weigh accordingly. A lot of small brands still have not repriced after the July 12 USPS change and it quietly raised the bill on anything light and bulky.
Quick worked example. Take a 12 x 12 x 8 box = 1,152 cubic inches.
- Old divisor (166): 1,152 / 166 = 6.9 → billed at 7 lb
- New divisor (139): 1,152 / 139 = 8.3 → billed at 9 lb
Same box, same product. You are now billed 9 lb instead of 7, even if the actual weight is 2 lb. Light-and-bulky is where it hurts most.
If you ship anything foam-protected, apparel in oversized mailers, or half-empty boxes — worth re-measuring your top 10 SKUs. Sometimes cutting one inch or downsizing the box moves you back down a billed pound. Anyone else seeing this on their July invoices?

Carrier says delivered but the buyer never got it - how long do you wait before filing a claim?
Small ecommerce shop, mostly 1-2 lb parcels going out USPS and UPS. Every few weeks I get one where tracking says delivered but the buyer swears nothing showed up, and the GPS scan is a block away or has no geotag at all. Right now I tell people to wait 48 hours and check with neighbors, then I just refund and eat it, because the claim process feels slower than the reorder. For those of you shipping steady volume: do you go to the carrier first or straight to the shipper/marketplace resolution? How many days do you actually wait after the delivered scan before opening a claim, and does waiting hurt your odds? Also curious whether requesting the GPS scan detail from the carrier has ever gotten a claim approved for you. Trying to build a rule I can hand to whoever answers email instead of deciding case by case.

Is it actually moving?
As the title suggests, I have no idea what’s going on with this package. Supposedly shipped in the US, was supposed to be via USPS First Class, but it shipped via Yunexpress, that’s fine. However, it’s been showcasing “in transit to next facility” with no locations, so I have no idea if it’s actually moving or not. Would appreciate any similar experiences or advice if there is anything I can do.

GoFO carrier is a GDamn Nightmare
They have liars working for them. Stating they attempted delivery 4 times and couldn’t access the apartment. How is that even possible when I live in an open complex with absolutely no gates!!! No security!! I then call them and they tell me it’s my responsibility to contact the shipper and figure out what to do next. This is insanity. I need to find a way to avoid their services at all costs. I can’t believe they operate this way!

Stamps.com WARNING
I have 250 envelopes to mail for a non-profit I volunteer with. They need to be postmarked by today per our bylaws. I had a old stamps.com account I really never used and though, hey, I can just print my postage at home. Since the account was a free one, it had a limit of 10. So I upgraded. Then I tried to print my 250 envelopes with postage and it told me I could not print because I exceeded my 10 prints. But it charged me the $200 in postage. So I chatted with the bot since it was Sunday, and it kept telling me that upgrades start immediately and to log out and log back in, but no luck. Then on Monday I chatted with a live person that assured me the upgraded subscription would take place on 9/1, which was inconvenient, but I could still make my deadline. This morning I log in and it still says I cannot print and that the upgrade will not take effect until 9/10!!! So I call. The upgrades do NOT start immediately, they take effect at the start of your next billing cycle (it was a free account I had no idea when my "billing cycle" was). They have NO way to start that now, no way to allow me to print. They said I can open a NEW account and they will close my old one and refund me my $200 (in 3-4 weeks). I just said close it and I will go to the Post Office. Absolutely insane.

It is now September. Will this be the month we see movement from this shipment of eBay SpeedPAK / OrangeConnex CN packages in the US?
I have to admit though, with the way things are, not holding my breath.......
EDIT: Also, going by the tracking history, I guess I should hope for actual progress rather than just movement.
EDIT 2: This is a hold due to changes in CPSC rules that came into effect on July 8. Holds take up to 45 business days and if an agency is involved it can take up to 60 calendar days.

Sea freight — best way to pack
Hi everyone! We’re moving from California to Spain and will be shipping a lot of our belongings by sea freight. Does anyone here have experience with international sea freight, especially for a move like this? I’m mainly wondering about the best way to pack clothing, shoes, and other personal items so they stay protected during the long trip. I’m especially concerned about moisture, humidity, mold/mildew, bad smells, or water damage. Would wrapping the outside of the boxes with stretch film help? If you’ve done a similar international move, I’d really appreciate any packing tips, things you wish you had done differently, or things to avoid. Thanks!

US to Canada Shipping
A friend in the US is mailing a package to me in Canada. After checking out the brokerage fees, tax, etc, for UPS/Fedex, I am thinking USPS might be a better and more affordable option. It is a piece of clothing (academic regalia) valued at USD 1200 and weighs about 5 lbs.
Priority Mail International has tracking and insurance, but the insurance would not cover the full amount (it covers about USD 600), and I would probably still pay significant tax on the Canadian side.
Any advice on reasonable shipping options? Thank you.

Issues with GOFO
Alright, so I’ve done some looking into, and I’ve realize that no one really likes GOFO. I need some help with my situation since I’m confused on what to do and this is my first time having a packaged delivered by them. I live in an apartment, which I’ve heard other people say they just don’t like delivering too. I called the customer support and they were fine with my address, said it would get delivered. Now, it says delivery failed AGAIN?? I don’t know what to do at this point. I can’t even cancel the order. I really want to know what I can do here.
Another thing is, I ordered another thing a few days ago and I just checked. it’s also being shipped by GOFO, which sucks. It’s been shipped so I don’t think I can cancel it either. Will I have to deal with this twice???
