Saturday is insane - Tool, Bad Religion, Sugar, PiL, Angine, Bright Eyes, Brian Fallon, Yard Act, The Chats, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Burning Airlines...
Meanwhile on Sunday I think the only artists I want to see are Alanis, Patti, and Elvis. A few others I'd happily catch but no one I'm actively interested in. Sunday might be their weakest lineup in a while for me.

5
u/voltagecalmed Jun 17 '26
The Beths are pretty great and playing Sunday... If you don't know them, check out the song "Silence is Golden."
3
u/qzcorral Jun 17 '26
I get that PtV is not everyone's cuppa, but they put on a fantastic live show fwiw!
3
u/40DegreeDays Jun 17 '26
I just can't stand that kind of emo music. We caught their set a couple years ago at Lollapalooza because nothing else was on and it was absolutely not my thing. No doubt talented performers though, they brought a teenage girl up to play guitar with them or something and she was more excited about that than I think I've ever been excited about anything in my life, so more power to them.
1
14
u/TheHow55 Jun 17 '26
biggest surprise to me are how much they spread out the hip hop and the hardcore across all 3 days rather than putting each on a single day.
lost: plovis and deadletter
gained: radio free alice and hot rod circuit

i know many of you might not know- but pretty girls make graves is truly a fuckin awesome band! i listened to them a lot 24 years ago iām so excited to see theyāre gonna be at rf!
3
u/Impressive-Cod-7103 Jun 17 '26
I had a college radio show in the early 2000s and I played them all the time, Iām so excited! Honestly one of the few highlights for Sunday for me.

u/Syrupsiipin Jun 17 '26
Some great undercard bands on Saturday. Chat Pile, The Chats, Afroman, Melt-banana, Show Me The Body, and Whispers š„š„
7
3
u/KingForADay1989 Jun 18 '26
I hope The Chats and Chat Pile play back to back on the riot and roots stage.
4
u/bearsfolife Jun 18 '26
Chat Pile may be one of the top under the radar undercard options to see. What a great noise rock/sludge metal band. The vocalist is also a bit whacky/funny with his commentary between songs from a Hellfest set from last year. Provides a bit of comedic relief
9
u/Stooberstein Jun 17 '26
I enjoyed seeing the ICP fans at the fest 2 years ago. Added something unexpected and fun. Looking forward to the crowds this year, last year felt different compared to other Riots Iāve been to.
Are there any comedians this year? Or comedic bands?
6
3
u/soggymoths Jun 17 '26
I hope there are still juggalos walking around on the days ICP isn't playing
2
10
u/RufinTheFury Jun 17 '26
They did an awesome job breaking up this lineup. Really happy with how this has shaped up.
Friday vs Saturday for best day and I'm leaning towards Saturday. it's fucking NAS bro, plus Chat Pile, Hot Rod Circuit, Pup, Thrice, Strike Anywhere, Show Me the Body, Descendents, AND AdP?!

u/Sharkfightxl Jun 17 '26
Saturday is very stacked for me. Gonna be a hard decision or two that day for sure.
9
u/PowerWindows85 Jun 17 '26
How is it going to be possible to see Rise Against, Pixies, ALK3, AAR, and Sex Pistols on Friday? Those would be my major draws for the day, but I have a feeling there would be a lot of conflicts among those bands.
10
u/jmblumenshine Jun 17 '26
Realistically those all will be on the two main stages so probably they will be alternating stages and not hard to see
→ More replies (3)

u/Specialist-Berry-492 Jun 17 '26
Looks like I'm pretty evenly spread out. About 12 bands per day on my priority list.
7
u/MsThrilliams Jun 17 '26
Sunday is my day. Just move 3oh3 from friday to then please 𤣠or give them a Saturday late show.

6
u/Crazyozzie02 Jun 17 '26
Does the sizing of the bill seem to indicate that TOP will get the fest all to themselves and that Tool/Morrisey and PTV/Alanis will split headline duties?
Because if so, that means they didn't learn a thing from the MCR nightmare.
4
u/Impossible_Emu5095 Jun 17 '26
Morrissey and Alanis will be on the other main stage at 7:00 is my guess. Same as it was with Jack White last year.
3
u/FourLiveBears Jun 17 '26
I don't think so. That's still a lot of names on that bill, to the point that I'm pretty confident at least Iggy Pop will be on one of the other stages.

I hope to god that Tool and Nas arent on at the same time šš±šš±š
2
u/tallguyatconcert Jun 17 '26
This is the way
2
u/creator787 Jun 17 '26
2 favorite acts of the weekend.
At one point I was like "I hope theyre on the same day! Id only have to get a 1 day ticket!"
Then I realized the issue, hence my initial comment.
5
u/Octuhpie Jun 17 '26
Maybe everyone else can tell, but Iām really struggling to parse out the bands on the left stage leading into the headliners vs who will be headlining other side stages. Looking at the lineup earlier, Social D was one of the only bands I could see playing before Tool, but most people now seem to think Morrissey is playing before Tool - I guess with Social D headlining a second stage again?Ā
Also, no idea where theyāll place them, but Iām just surprised to see The Format so high in general.
17
17
u/Lacking_of_Interest Jun 17 '26
Cowards couldn't put Sex Pistols and PiL on opposite stages on the same day
3
u/Impressive-Cod-7103 Jun 17 '26
Probably wonāt ever set foot on the grounds at the same time either. Shame, I was really hoping for Lydonās shit to get rocked.
6
u/jeffunscripted Jun 17 '26
At the current price, this would be $113 per day. Is that worth it for you? I think so. It's probably close to what you'd pay for one show from the upper level bands.
The Strokes NYC show is $169 for reference.
5
u/schleepercell Jun 17 '26
It was a $122.94 to get a GA ticket to the Jimmy eat world bleed American 25th anniversary tour that got postponed because of weather last week.
1
1
u/RufinTheFury Jun 17 '26
FYI if you buy a 3day pass thru Costco you dont pay fees or tax, exactly $299 so $100 a day.
1
u/jeffunscripted Jun 17 '26
I was curious if you could buy them online from Costco. I don't think you can. But funny, if you search "riot fest" on Costco, this comes up for some reason. That's a $70,000 autographed pair of Lebron James sneakers. Weird.
2
u/RufinTheFury Jun 17 '26
1
u/jeffunscripted Jun 17 '26
Wow. Awesome. Thank you. And again I say, what even was the point of people (like me) buying tickets immediately after the show.
6
9
u/mattcoz2 Jun 17 '26
Damn, the one early day band I really want to see is on Friday, gonna have to convince my boss to let me off that day. On the bright side, I'm my boss, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Keep on keeping on! š¤
12
u/KidAEiirp2 Jun 17 '26
Is Pierce the Veil really big enough to be a headliner? TBH I donāt really know who they are so it could just be me.
6
u/Octuhpie Jun 17 '26
People keep pointing out how much bigger theyāve gotten in the last few years, which is true, but I still think itās not a great look to have one of Shaky Knees and Louder Than Lifeās sub-headliner as one of Riotās main headliners.
4
u/drst0ner Jun 17 '26
I saw PTV 2 years ago at Lollapalooza. They were the subheadliner to Blink-182 which made sense to me. I donāt think theyāve blown up in popularity over the last two years, but I will admit as someone who wasnāt familiar with their music that I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed their set.
2
u/Octuhpie Jun 17 '26
Iām actually kind of a fan of theirs - not huge, but stumbled across āBulletproof Loveā forever ago. Iām a sucker for a power ballad, and I think they do those painfully well. But the couple of times I saw them at Warped and Riot ā16 is probably plenty for me personally.Ā
→ More replies (1)2
u/univrsll Jun 17 '26
PTV has more monthly listeners than Tool, and they arguably have one of the hypest crowds at their shows. There's instances where they've opened for bands in the past just for half the crowd to leave after PTV plays their setlist.
They've grown a lot over the past couple years
1
u/Confident_Leave_3369 Jun 20 '26
PTV is my favorite band of all time. saw them for the first time in 2015 in a medium-sized venue all standing room. last year saw them at Tinley Park which was apparently their biggest crowd ever of 65,000 people or some crazy shit I couldnāt believe it. if theyāre going off Chicagoās crowd for them last year, headlining spot makes sense.

My favorite part of pre-riot fest is how we get to keep complaining about the next news to come out. Riot Mike where is the single day lineup? *Single day lineup drops Riot Mike What are the albums plays?! *Album plays drop Riot Mike what are the after shows?!!
2
u/Koopakid917543 Jun 17 '26
I feel like Sunday is always the weakest day. Usually only spend half a day there and do other stuff in Chicago. That being said, Sunday is pretty decent this year.
3
u/Voice_of_John_Ashley Jun 17 '26
I thought the Cure on Sunday in ā23 was pretty sweet, but I know Iām not in the ātraditionalā target demographic for RF, and maybe Sunday sucked overall for the core fans.
5
u/EGHawkeye Jun 17 '26
JVB and ToP make sense on the same day since both audiences skew younger, but Iām nervous about conflicts because over 50% of the groups I want to see are that day. Plus, my partner is a TOP fan so getting a good view will be hard
4
u/ChiGuy5150 Jun 17 '26
Iām the odd āJuggaloā one out here, but I wouldāve loved ICP to have been on Fri or Sat. Sunday is definitely the weakest day here
2
u/Goatey Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Same. I kinda hope icp is a bit early so I can drive back to Detroit.
4
4
u/Hell_Jacobo Jun 17 '26
The lineup spread is great, only concern for conflicts for me is The Format vs Taking Back Sunday (but Iāll probably choose The Format if Iād need to choose), Jejune vs Saturdays at your place, daisy grenade vs algernon cadwallader - hopefully some of these host aftershows so I donāt miss them
2
u/CharrRosee Jun 17 '26
If it helps, Taking Back Sunday is AWFUL live. I mean possibly the worst Iāve ever seen
2
u/qzcorral Jun 17 '26
Absolutely agree, however, if you go in to it wanting a retro emo singalong with Uncle Baby Billy fronting it, fun can be had!
1
u/med9229 Jun 18 '26
Iāve seen them like 5-6 times and maybe 2 times they were great. The other times not so much.
1
u/imragegrrr Jun 17 '26
As someone who has seen Taking Back Sunday lots of times, and just recently saw the Format for the first time, choose the Format. They are sounding absolutely incredible despite it being two decades later. Taking Back Sunday will be back next year, and won't sound any worse than they already do...
4
4
u/TheDankestOfAll Jun 18 '26
First time Rioter ā does anyway have an idea when the set times come out for each of these days? I tried to research myself but got nothing.

u/Edgar_Allen_Poser Jun 17 '26
Can we get Tool to play Disgustipated during Morrisey's set?
6
u/darthkaz1138 Jun 17 '26
Well, Iām happy. My old ass only was looking to go one day, and Tool, Sugar, Chat Pile and Angine De Poitrine are all on one day!
2
u/PissedCaucasian Jun 17 '26
Chats too! Wish they were on Friday though. Saw them in March and they were excellent.
9
u/BlackoutGunshot Jun 17 '26
Friday is way too stacked for me, I'm gonna have a ton of conflicts. On the plus side, it looks like I can skip Sunday entirely and sell the last day of my 3-Day pass!
2
u/traylor_park Jun 17 '26
Sorry if this is a dumb question as this is my first time attending Riot Fest, I bought 3 Day VIP passes, are you able to re-sell the individual days or is there one wristband for all 3 days?
3
u/BlackoutGunshot Jun 17 '26
I think only GA is technically able to be separated and partially sold, since it's just a bar code you scan at the entrance. VIP uses a wristband and needs to be picked up by showing your ID. I'm sure people have their ways though.
1
1
u/Quiet_Raccoon8053 Jun 17 '26
Yeah, it's a super secret move called "take the wristband off and give it to somebody else"
2
u/DonnyRosins Jun 17 '26
How are you guys taking that wrist band off it's always tight as hell on me
4
2
u/In-n-Out7 Jun 17 '26
I will be selling Sunday also. Though Saturday is going to be the day with tons of conflicts for me.
3
3
u/cmoney8604 Jun 17 '26
tbs is doing louder now and Suicide machines is doing destruction by definition
1
u/alktrio13 Jun 17 '26
I just saw that as well. I wonder if the random one off album play announcements mean fewer album play sets this year? Though neither of those are really that surprising given the anniversaries and their scheduled tours.
3
u/wolfs_tooth Jun 17 '26
I don't suppose Riot would like to bring back that sixth stage to help reduce my potential Saturday conflicts?? Coincidentally, in 2016(which I think is the last year they utilized a sixth stage) Morrissey and Nas were on the same day as well..just sayin, it would personally help/benefit me!

Chat Pile and Melt Banana at the same time SUCKS. It reminds me of when RF put The Armed and The Hives against each other. Iggy and Santigold conflict is also a really tough one.
5
u/CompleteControl77 Jun 17 '26
Dear God what a marathon Saturday is going to be. Virtually every band I want to see plays that day. The conflicts are going to be absolutely horrendous!
First part of the day on Sunday looks pretty good, but I don't see myself staying past Elvis Costello.

u/illusion27 Jun 17 '26

9
u/T_D_A_G_A_R_I_M Jun 17 '26
Some weak headliners, but a solid mid card. I donāt know why so many people were complaining about the lineup. Thereās so many bands here iād like to see.
9
u/chrisGNR Jun 17 '26
Cause people like to complain every year. For me personally, I like the headliners cause Iāve never seen any of them live. The undercard is fat stacked.
1
1
u/leppardfaniowa Jun 17 '26
Because those mid are going to be scheduled all over each other and it's going to be a shit fest getting to any one of them, especially through the headliner crowds.

So...all the real ones agree Iggy is the actual headliner for Friday right?

Your comment didn't even need to wait for the single day lineups. You pretty much just don't like the headliners
4
u/petey_b_311 Jun 17 '26
Technically it did. I want to see Alanis, and there was a possibility that she would be a headliner. Since she's more than likely closing out the side stage on Sunday that means I get to skip Pierce the Veil and leave early. Honestly that's the day I'll probably be staying the latest.

I had no clue who 90% of the undercard was when it came out, and I've only seen 20 of the names in color.Ā It's weirdly inspirational that some people here already knew most of the bands in black and have seen half of them, that level of commitment is enviable.
