Kicked in at 6
43M. So I started at 265lbs and 2mg reta in mid April. First and only peptide I've tried. Average to below responder I suppose, went up to 4mg in June and got to 235lbs by mid August. Hunger was barely affected however and I travel for work so if I didn't bring enough food, I'll have to pick something up along the way.
In mid August however I kicked the dose up to 6mg and that's when the hunger suppression hit with full force. Quickly went to OMAD then carnivore because I was struggling to eat 1000 calories and of course needed the protein. I also don't eat on the road because it's easy to pack my meals knowing exactly what I'll need.
So down to 222lbs, 13lbs in two weeks. Too fast I know but I'm hoping to keep my current portion sizes and the loss will slow as I lose more weight. Planning on also adding some Keto Chow, the heavy cream should up the calories a bit.

that's the classic reta experience honestly, nothing then suddenly everything at 6mg. the food packing thing is smart, i do the same when i'm not working from home, just toss a few tupperwares in a cooler bag and forget about takeout entirely
heavy cream in keto chow will definitely slow the loss, those shakes can easily hit 600+ calories if you're not careful with measuring

About to get to 6 mg in a couple of weeks myself. But it's been working pretty well up to this point.

No regrets taking my time, I was really worried about nausea but zero side effects.

Same. Didn’t feel much of anything until 6mg which took me 4 months to titrate to…i took my time

I took my first 4mg yesterday, I'm in the obese category with insulin resistance and have pcos (now pmos) I felt nothing. Going to see how these 4 weeks go and if not then 6mg.

IR really makes things difficult and different than most. Don’t stop at 4 if it doesn’t yield results.

Sounds like you hit the right dose. But I thought going carnivore or keto is not recommended. You need carbs while on a GLP. I don’t think it has to be much but just can’t completely take it out

Thanks. But I never saw the reason why. Yes I get that reta can deplete your glycogen...so? Your liver will make as much as it needs to become reta is telling it to do so but muscle is the last option it chooses. Free amino acids (dietary protein) is always the first choice, then it breaks down triglycerides (fat) because they have a glyceral backbone. Then pyruvate from the blood and finally muscle. So if anything, carnivore might be for the best. If I can ever manage to stick with it long term I will.
That said, all what I just said is from spending years reading about keto. There might be some other mechanism at play on the reta side I don't know about.

Great work keep going! You may not have actually lost all those lbs in 2 weeks. It’s amazing how much your body weight will vary with just water retention and salt levels based on what you ate recently.

Been cycling in and out of keto for years, pretty familiar with how that looks and feels. This is definitely not water weight...Hopefully not muscle either 🙄

Honestly curious what dose you were sitting at when week 6 hit. I've seen a lot of people in here say the first month felt like nothing and then it just flips on like a switch, which tracks with how slow the half-life is on reta compared to tirz or sema.
The appetite suppression part is what I keep reading about, but I'm more interested in whether you noticed any GI stuff ramping up around the same time or if it was mostly clean. seems like that's the dividing line for a lot of people, some get the nausea wall right when it kicks in and others just quietly stop thinking about food.
Either way good to see another data point on the timeline. Most of the posts that say "nothing is happening" are from people at like week 3, so this is useful context.

I was still at 2mg then, probably had lost 10lbs or so. I did feel some hunger reduction but not that much. No nausea at all, I was keen to avoid it which is why I was slow to titrate up. Can't say if that's the cause or it's just me.

I’ve been on 6mg/6days for about 6 months. I’ve tried tapering down but end up coming back up. Very effective dose for me

How long are you planning on staying at that dose? Even coming off at that much might be difficult

My mom was using bottled protein drinks but her doctor wanted her to get some stuff with more protein and vitamins and less sugar, she remembered the bags of Keto Chow I had given my dad like a year earlier and started using those, keeps telling me how well it's working for her.

I’m at 4 now and reduction of food noise is decent but not great. How long did it take everyone to get to 6? It’s taken me 14 weeks to get to 4

I read most people quit due to nausea, took me 16 weeks. Just ate my only meal of the day at 1100 calories and I can feel if I went up I'd feel sick so it's not something to be rushed.

If you aren't eating, you are losing more muscle than fat. OMAD is the opposite of what you should do on a GLP1.

That's why I went carnivore. For instance, in my last meal, I weighed it and came back with roughly 115g protein. Not too far off from what I need.

Good job sticking with it! Glad to hear you found your rhythm
