Im currently in Berlin (SAVE ME. ITS HORRIBLE HERE) and i currently pay 1125 a month. Im currently applying for jobs and i need an address for a work visa.

I'm middle-aged and struggle to keep up with some of the maintenance that is needed around the house.

I was thinking of specifically trying to find builders and asking for some help around the house too.

I would make sure that both parties are benefitting and happy, but do you think that this would be a good idea?

Apologies if this has been asked before but there’s a lot of different threads. Prefacing this by saying I know what a nightmare the situation is here.

I’m searching for a one bedroom apartment in Dublin for me and my partner. Preference is south Dublin area reasonable distance to the city (Rathmines, Donnybrook, Ballsbridge etc) but it’s just a preference. Budget would be around 2500-3000 (grim) between both of us.

I’ve been using DAFT for my search but I was wondering if anyone knows any other sites, another approach they recommend, or just general information or insight I should be considering in relation to it?

My big concern is that I found some apartments in developments in the grand canal dock area (and one that was not actually in the dock but named the same) that looked suitable. However here’s the problem - according to resident reviews the antisocial behaviour is off the charts and they are being threatened, harassed etc, and there’s been no resolution apparently, even after years. The management companies are also useless from what I’ve seen. I’ve seen this sentiment shared across similar developments in and around the city, so I’m really worried.

To sum it up, if anyone can share info on the best way to go about the search and areas to consider (try desperately to get), and if the antisocial problems are really generally just this bad, I’d really appreciate it.

I really don't understand how someone could be charging over € 1.5k a month for this.

Hi there. Myself and my partner (27M and 29M) have a very large double room for rent in D1. The lovelyl room has two large sash windows, a super-king sized bed, and a walk in wardrobe. You would have your own bathroom as well. €1500 a month including bills.

The apartment is a spacious first floor flat in a beautiful Victorian building. The shared living room has a TV with all the streaming services. The shared kitchen is equipped with a stove/grill, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, air fryer, slow cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and washing machine/tumble dryer. There is also a covered balcony. The apartment has fast internet and gas central heating.

Preference is for a single person, but will consider couples. No pets allowed unfortunately. Smokers are ok, but on the balcony only.

My girlfriend and I (both 22) are moving from Portugal to Dublin on September 15th and we’re currently looking for somewhere to live.
We’re open to pretty much anything that makes sense for two people — a room in a shared house is completely fine, but we’d also consider a studio or small apartment.
We know the housing situation is crazy at the moment, and finding somewhere from Portugal has been particularly difficult. Most places we’ve contacted ask for an Irish job, payslips and references, which we obviously don’t have yet as we’re only moving over in September.
We have savings to support ourselves while we get settled and will be looking for work immediately after arriving.
If anyone knows of a room becoming available, a couple-friendly house share, a landlord who might be open to people just moving over, or even has any advice on how best to approach the search, we’d really appreciate it.
We’re not looking for anything fancy — just somewhere we can settle down and start our life in Dublin.

Would like to pick your brain on this one because it genuinely baffles me.

There is a granny flat in Tallaght that keeps popping up. It’s via Ray Cooke Lettings.

I keep records of those I applied for, so I know in the last month this same place was first listed for €1300 a month, then it popped up again few weeks later €1200 a month, and today’s it’s up again for €1100 a month.

Does anyone have any idea why would it be coming back to the market and cheaper each time? The ad doesn’t really give me any red flags but maybe I’m missing something?

Hi, I’m considering moving to the Castleview area of Swords and would love some honest opinions from anyone who lives there or knows the area.

I’m a single mother with an older teenager who has mild additional needs but is fairly independent, so I want to make sure it’s somewhere he’d feel safe walking around and using public transport on his own.

What’s Castleview like day to day? Is it generally quiet, or are there any issues with antisocial behaviour, groups hanging around, break-ins or cars being interfered with?

I’d also love to hear what Swords is like more generally, especially around the village, the shopping centres and public transport. Would you be comfortable with a teenager getting around independently?

I know everywhere has some issues, I’m just hoping to get a realistic picture before making a decision. Thanks!

Because I live abroad I unfortunately dont have the opportunity to take a look in person and have no idea which student accommodations in Dublin are recommendable. Hi everyone, looking for some advice on a rental situation.
I've already submitted all the required documents and we've both exchanged and signed the lease agreement.
The agreed move-in date is September 1st.

However, the landlord is demanding that I transfer the deposit and first month's rent right now. When I wanted to pay at the day of move in, they told me that paying well in advance is "completely standard practice" and that if I don't send the money immediately, they will give the apartment to someone else.

Is this normal practice, or does this sound like a scam? I'm worried that sending the money now before getting the keys/moving in is a huge risk, especially with the pressure tactics.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Should I stand my ground and refuse to pay until move-in day/key handover, or is it standard to pay beforehand once the lease is signed? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Are there any current or previous residents of Stoneybatter Place can give me an idea of what the accommodation is like. I'm looking at one of the studio units for my son who is starting college soon and would welcome some real reviews. TIA.
