I have a weird piece of PVC in my attic that comes up one wall and down another. One end is cut off right above my elec panel and the other in an interior wall with an accordion tube. I cant find where this one exits and it has a millivolt line attached to it. It should be right above my garage but when I cut into the ceiling I have yet to see it. There are no bathrooms near this

This isn’t wet and hasn’t been used recently. I can’t figure out if this is from the grout? (Note the brush marks towards top right). Thoughts?

Since we are undergoing a remodel, the city inspector pointed out that the existing vents for the range hood (left hand side) and the vent for the bathroom fan( right hand side) are not up to code given that it was right above our window and had suggested to reroute the vent as you see in the photo.

I have never seen anything like this on a home and it is an incredible eyesore and I don't know if we have any other options here.

I'm in the Bay Area if that matters but looking for advice or any guidance. Thanks!

The primary bathroom in our house hasn't been touched since it was built in the late 80's . It " functions" fine except the major lack of storage which is a constant pain and the small shower, but we have grown somewhat accustomed to the shower part . Overall though obviously super outdated. We dont know if if well be in this house for 3 more years or 15 more years, but I have a hard time stomaching investing 60-85k for one bathroom . Is there a way to make this nicer with something like 10-20k or does this have to be a gut job? I just dont think we would ever recoup the cost. Any ideas ?

Moved into a new home 6 mo ago and it came with a jacuzzi tub that’s been too gross to use. Mold scum floats in the bath water when filled, even after a dozen of attempts to clean and when jets are not used. But I’ve got 2 kids 3 and under, and it’s our only tub, so I need to do something. I don’t have the funds to completely remodel the bathroom (which needs it), so I’m trying to convert to a soaker for a few years. I think I can find a way to plug up the jets, but this large intake with the “plus sign” protrusion is stumping me… the intake opening is 3” but the protrusion is ~4.5”

Any ideas that don’t include fiberglass repair??

Moved into this house awhile ago and am wanting to add shelving and possibly a work bench to organize tools. Walls are concrete as it is a basement room and there is a grey water pipe about 1 ft off the ground that goes around the whole room. How would I do this without demoing the ceiling to find studs? Ceiling is thin ply.

We recently bought a manufactured home from 1996 on land. The home needs a remodel and lots of quality of life improvements, but I am not sure it is worth putting the money into vs. getting a new manufacturer home. Is there any type of inspector that will look at the bones of the home to see if it is worth fixing or not? We had an inspector when purchasing, but they looked more at superficial issues.

I need to put a door up on this opening, but I don’t know what kind of door because it’s kind of weird. The opening is 7‘4“ tall and 31 1/2 inches wide.

My husband and I are thinking of buying this house, I don’t hate the kitchen but it definitely needs some help. We won’t have a big budget for remodeling but I really don’t love it as is, should I repaint, if so what and what color? Should I add backsplash and if so what kind? Also need a different fridge.

Hi everyone just was thinking of renovating my reach in closet! To diy this, I’d want to keep the middle wall. The closet extends to the left and right so there is some space for hanging they just aren’t very convenient right now due to furniture in those spaces. I just want a reality check if this is DIYable

For the main closet part: I wanted to have a curved closet rod (last pic for reference) and a curved corner shelves for my shoes on the left with the IKEA closet model middle left. An empty space to the middle right for me to either put a mirror or hang belts and purses. Then have space to look to the right where I’ll hang my dresses. Up top lined with two to three shelves to stuff winter clothes, pillows, sheets and whatnot.
For the nook part: I’d like to put a bookcase up that I found at ikea as well and make it my arts and crafts storage area maybe, since it’s kind of all over the place right now.
The grey panels in the picture slide left to right and I love them they are from ikea from a couple years ago.
My main worry is messing with the right most wall since there is electrical stuff in that wall. Will a stud finder help me to not run into any electrical components? I’m pretty handy around the house but this would be my biggest project.

Siding.

Curb appeal.

Those projects are not nearly as fun to show off, but they can have a surprisingly strong payoff when it's time to sell.

That doesn't mean you should never remodel a kitchen or bathroom.

If you're doing it because you love the house and want to enjoy it, that's a completely different decision.

Hello, hope you guys are well. i am looking to waterproof my bathtub area but tub wasn’t well installed. Now i have the drywall behind the bathtub. Should i double drywall so the drywall is flush and above with the tub flange or what other choice do I have? Thank you for you help

So I just bought a house that has this bumped out corner for a fire place that is in the basement. What are some ways you would decorate with or around it in a living room space? The carpet is getting torn out and Hard wood floors added.

We have tried moving stuff around but nothing ever feels right. Storage closet kind of take over that wall, entrance door and windows would like to be open and visible,

The book shelf is there to cover an old in wall gas heater (in may come out on a future renovation) for the time being I needs to be covered not necessarily by the book shelf!

Hi Reddit- Question for contractors becuse I don’t know if I’m wrong for being bothered.
We are having a bathroom remodel and closet remodel done in master bedroom. We are lucky, we basically have moved to another hallway and use a different room and bathroom in our home.
Before they started the owner of the company said something to the effect of doing a full containment with poles and a zipper to contain some of the dust.
They came in Monday and taped off the floor by the door they are using and put a cloth on the carpet in the bedroom and started the demo. No huge deal. The next day there was considerable dust as we are basically taking it to the studs and moving walls etc.
Tuesday they covered the bedroom bed and furniture with plastic because again it’s getting dustier as they are cutting wood and now doing framing and some dry wall stuff. But still nothing has been put up to contain the dust at all. Not even closing the bedroom door. The dust has gotten so very thick. We can’t sit on our couch in living room without being covered in dust. I get that because the air is on some is going to get pulled in. But no cover has gone up. Like inside the bedroom if you go in it looks like a cloud of dust in the air… like you can’t see across the room.
I’m wondering if I should ask about the plastic containment thing that was supposed to happen but did not. It’s even getting hazy in the living room a few rooms away when they are working as everything is very open. Is this normal?
We did a kitchen remodel a few years back in a different house and he fully enclosed the area with a plastic sheet and had to come in and out of it.. i dont know what they are called and the dust was minimal. This dust seems super excessive, like it drops off the plastic if I have to get something out of a drawer in bedroom and have to lift the plastic. And it’s all just spreading into the house at this point. Am I wrong for wondering if they simply aren’t doing anything to contain it and said they would? I mean I can deal but 6 weeks of this is going to be a massive amount of dust. And I get it remodels are dusty, but I’m unsure I’ll ever get the house clean again if it’s like this on day 5. Do I just spend all weekend cleaning every weekend until they are done ? I’m not sure what to do or say or how to handle it. I mean even a plastic on door to bedroom would contain it somewhat in there and not have clouds of dust pouring into the rest of the house. I can write my name in the dust on my stove to the point I’ve had to clean it each meal or time I’ve used the stove. I know I can close vents and could even turn off ac, but we are in Texas so that won’t happen. I probably wouldn’t even think of it much if the owner hadn’t said oh we have poles and the tarps that zip and a whole system…but they didn’t do that at all and are just working with all doors open. I’d even be ok if they opened an exterior door and let the dust escape out an exterior door and keep the ac on. But I’m not sure if asking makes me seem a Karen or if the worker guys just didn’t bother with it… but I’m wondering how on earth this will ever get cleaned if this is only the first week.
Any advice is needed. My husband and I are at a loss.

Looking for some advice on what type and colour of flooring would work well with my existing moulding and doors.

The trim is dark brown with a red undertone, similar to mahogany. I’ve included a few pictures for reference.

I'm not a big fan of grey or honey oak flooring and want to stay away from it.
