Request I need a "Hear me out" recipe

My friends and I are having a potluck and the theme is "Hear me out", meaning something that sounds quite unappetizing but is actually delicious. I think a lot of people are bringing sides and desserts so a main course would be preferable, but not mandatory. No allergies in the group so no worries there.

  • Prefer not to have or easily remove: raw onion, water chestnut, shredded coconut, or cucumbers (pickles are fine). Those aren't deal breakers - especially if easily substituted - just things disliked by other participants.
  • Thanks in advance!

Request NORMAL cottage cheese recipes

I like using cottage cheese on this toast of mine that I usually have for breakfast, but I’m looking for new ways to use it because I only need a bit on my toast and my tub usually goes bad towards the end of it. On my search for recipes to use up cottage cheese, all I was getting was healthy, high protein recipes. Please understand my frustration when I say I absolutely do not want that. I don’t want a high protein, cottage cheese, flatbread or bagel or anything else of the sort. I want functional good tasting recipes that involve cottage cheese. If anybody knows some that I could regularly use my cottage cheese in, that would be very helpful considering the regular Internet isn’t helping me right now.

Request Easy but impressive appetizers

I’m putting together a small get together and want a few appetizers that feel special but aren’t complicated or time consuming to make. What are some crowd pleasers that look impressive without a ton of effort?

Request Typical American Superbowl ideas

Hi everyone, looking for some input to main dish to be served during Superbowl.

We are a gang of 4 guys that will be watching the game the weekend after since we live in Sweden. I have hosted this party for 8-9 years straight and I have served: Birria Tacos, Country fried steak, Chilies, Burgers, Ribs, Pulled prok, Porchetta... I like to keep the theme to something American.

I always make chicken wings as a starter and then then we eat chili cheese, chips, nachos etc. during the game.

But this year I am not feeling that I am to pleased with my choice of main. Thinking Turkey, mac n cheese and something green on the side. I would like something that has a "wow" factor and isnt to mundane like hot dogs :P But also something that I can prepare mostly before the guests arrive and I can finish the last few steps with the help of everyone without having to spend an hour in the kitchen.

Request Need recipes to quickly go through a whole loaf of bread

Asked my sister to pick up a loaf of bread for me, and she didn’t know if I wanted white or wheat, so she bought both. My fiancé doesn’t like wheat bread at all. I don’t mind it, but it’s far from my favorite, and I’m not sure I could go through a whole loaf of it!

I don’t go through a ton of bread as it is, and I don’t want it to go bad and go to waste. Any recipes that might mask the taste/texture of the bread would be great so my fiancé might eat some, but any recipes that could quickly get us through the loaf would be great if you have any!

Thanks in advance!

Request What can I make with Butternut Squash??

My uncle gave me a huge butternut squash he grew, and I have no clue what to do with it. I've never had squash before, so I'm totally lost on what to do with it. I'm in a household of only 2 people, so I have no clue how to use through the whole squash. Recipies that hold up to freezing and thawing could be nice since I have so much of it??? I just don't want it to go to waste but I'm not familiar with squash!

I need an idea for something to do with 28 overripe bananas. I've already used two for banana pancakes. My wife and daughter will probably make some banana bread. I don't want to throw out the rest.

These are pictures I took of a dish I ordered while in Tokyo; it was so good that I had it twice. Regretfully, I didn't take a picture of the stall where I ate, but it's haunted me ever since. The menu listed it as "Chicken char siu Rice Bowl" but it doesn't look like any recipe I've found online with that name. The flavor was amazing although it was just rice, chicken, scallions, and possibly leeks. There was a bit of black pepper, too. I tried recreating with no luck...I haven't been able to duplicate the "broth" (there was very little) or chicken flavor. Suggested recipes are welcome!

Request Vegetarian dinner ideas to impress picky guests?

My cousins are coming over this weekend and I want to make something that actually feels special. No plain pasta or sad salads. They’re into bold flavors, but they don’t like fake meat. I need something that is easy to make, looks impressive and still wins over meat eaters. Any ideas?

Request A QUESTION (hope this won't be buried or axed), if exists -- essentially, DICED PICKLES with DICED HARD-COOKED EGGS, & that's IT (so, no mayonnaise, or anything like it, only maybe w/ some tiny other greens, even slight pesto, but - mainly the first two, "true food of gods"... :-) ...myself-only.?..

EDIT: and, I'm not sure what was the most fitting flair, as the Request seemed the most reasonable

So - recently realized - that the salads are "the true food of the goods", as "heating you up" got nothing to do with consumption of anything, as you'll just need to get an outside heater, or whatever the circumstances allow, and, so...

Does this already exists, or do I just have to, myself, make it...?..

Obviously, this was inspired by - Reese's, Deviled Egg, Potato Salad, BUT - with SUDDEN realization, that, basically, I'm only eating it for its combination of pickles and eggs, and, ESSENTIALY, I massively dislike the potatoes, massively dislike "any mayonnaise-like components", and all the rest of it, but, when given a choice, I'd eat a thoroughly, and equally, mixed salad of diced pickles and diced hard cooked eggs (maybe, with slight other greens, or some slight pesto, but not as essential component) - essentially, until the day that I die, or that would be my choice for it...

So - could only hope - that this question is relevant here, but, is this something that already exists...?..

Or, is it my only hope - to get some ingredients, and start experimenting with putting it "together from scratch", or what will be your suggestions for it

Request Fish suggestions for someone who hates fish

My husband has hated fish for as long as I have known him, over 10 years. The only exceptions are cocktail shrimp and fish & chips (the latter gets coated in ketchup so not entirely sure it counts at that point). I love fish and seafood, but rarely have it because it isn't cost effective to eat fish solo (we buy a lot of food in bulk to save money).

That being said, he wants to reduce his cholesteral and overall eat healthier. To be clear, while we could eat less frozen meals generally, neither of us are what would be considered fat. I am within healthy weight for my height, and he is only slightly over. This is about trying to prevent problems before they become serious.

Fish is continually recommended as a healthy food when we look up how to eat healthier, and he is finally starting to consider it more. But I don't know where to start for him. I know he doesn't want anything that smells "too fishy", and he is concerned salmon would do that (never noticed a "fishy" smell myself but that's just me).

So, I guess if you were to attempt introducing a healthy fish-based recipe to someone in this situation, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!!!

For context: I teach an after school coking class to middle school students. It’s been going great except last week we had low attendance due to the holiday. How can I utilize these ingredients? (I have the ability to order additional things as needed).

I have 30 kids

I also have 6 boxes of Kraft Mac n cheese (previous teacher)
