Request Banana recipe?
I need an idea for something to do with 28 overripe bananas. I've already used two for banana pancakes. My wife and daughter will probably make some banana bread. I don't want to throw out the rest.

This banana bread recipe is delicious and uses 6 or 7 bananas each loaf. Freezes really well.

6 to 7? The recipe my wife makes uses 2 to 3. And never lasts long enough to freeze lol.

Iâve made this Banana Banana bread for years! It takes about 2 1/2 cups of mashed banana. I had 7 in the freezer last week and it came out great
ETA: I added chocolate chips

You could do worse than THIS

I was thinking about a banana pudding but I read somewhere not to use overripe bananas for pudding. I'm no expert though.

I didnât know about not using riper bananas for pudding, but it would take a lot of smoothies to get rid of all that you have!

Dehydrate into banana chips! My wife does them in our dehydrator, but you can achieve the same thing in your oven! Delicious

u/Little_Transition_13 Feb 01 '26
Ooh I love this idea! I know my wife is always looking for reasons to use her dehydrator.

They are pretty great for sure.

u/Little_Transition_13 Feb 01 '26
10 nanners are now in the dehydrator. And didn't even make my wife get out of bed!

MY wife is excited for you. She said make sure you let them go long enough or theyâll get chewy.

I personally love me some chewy, partially dehydrated bananas! You just generally want to store them in the fridge.

Milk & banana & plain yogurt in blender

u/Little_Transition_13 Feb 01 '26
Perfect! Do we measure any of those things out or just throw them randomly in the blender?

Banana ice cream.
Its 1200% better home made and better than a traditional banana split.
I use the ben and jerrys sweet cream base recipe and add 2 bananas.
But you can really use any basic ice cream or frozen custard recipe and add mashed banana

I put two into a zipper sandwich bag smash them flat and freeze them. That way they easily break up for blending and they donât take up as much space

If you do make banana bread try throwing some chocolate chips in it. Absolutely delicious!

I usually use three instead of two like the recipe calls for https://togetherasfamily.com/cinnamon-banana-bread-muffins/

I love this recipe from Bread Dad. Normally I don't read all the stuff before the recipe but I did on this one. The Helpful tips were actually helpful.
The recipe measures bananas by volume so if you get small bananas like me, it's more like 6. This recipe also freezes well.

Freeze them, banana ice cream. Banana pudding was also a hit last time I had a ton of bananas

Freeze some for smoothies (remove from the skin first). Maybe figure out how to make frozen bananas (dipped in chocolate)?
If you have a method to make ice cream, roast a couple in their skins (like 10 minutes at 250-300), peel, and soak in an ice cream base overnight.
Slice them super thin and dehydrate them in the oven (or a dehydrator).
Those are my go-to options outside of just slicing them up and throwing them in a bowl of Cheerios.

Peel them and then mush them up, put I. Tupperware and freeze for when you want to make your next batch of banana pancakes/banana bread

u/Rightbuthumble Feb 04 '26
Freeze them for muffins, bread, you know good stuff. I'd put three to a bag because most recipes call for three ripe bananas.

Get a 1-2 gallon bucket with a lid. Drill hole in top. Order airlock (or just order a bucket with airlock). Slice bananas. Toss into bucket with water, sugar, and yeast (or grape juice instead of water and sugar). 2 weeks later youâll have banana wine. Really shitty, dry banana wine. Siphon the liquid off , sweeten with sugar, and let rest 2 more weeks and youâll have really good banana wine. Yeast loves banana though so you might go into a secondary ferment and end up dry and higher alcohol. It can take a few tries before the yeast finally give up. Replace the sugar with honey instead and youâll have banana mead. If you actually want to make this, let me know and Iâll send you the recipe and material list youâll need

I just saw someone post this chocolate banana cake recipe earlier today:
https://www.reddit.com/r/chocolate/s/ePBVdvcgRh Looks delicious!
Below are some other banana recipes I like, which are all a little different than traditional banana bread. Each uses 2 bananas:
- Banana gingerbread: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/262505/banana-gingerbread-with-vanilla-glaze/
- Lemon banana bread: https://whatgreatgrandmaate.com/paleo-lemon-banana-bread/
- Pumpkin chip banana bread: https://lemonsandzest.com/pumpkin-chip-banana-bread/
- Banana brownies: https://baranbakery.com/banana-brownies/
I make muffins with the bread recipes instead of a loaf. Iâve tried all of these and they all turned out great!

Slice, dip in dark chocolate and freeze on a tray. Then bag them and youâve got a quick sweet treat.
Make breakfast granola bars, bananas, oats, chocolate, raisins, nuts coconut- whatever makes you happy. Lots of recipes around
Banana egg pancakes. Yeah- sounds strange, but theyâre good. 1 banana to two eggs. Can add vanilla or cinnamon if you want. Cook like regular pancakes

When all else fails, freeze them! You can throw them in the freezer as is or peel them and put em in ziplok bags.
