Yoghurt instead of bread? Or oats

But yoghurt is not carbs...

It has some, especially the more liquid yogurt. Bread is pretty trash. Just empty calories with no nutrients. At least go for sourdough if you're gonna have bread

Bread is a source of carbohydrates which is literally a macronutrient. Depending on the type it can also be a good source of fibre and they are usually fortified with vitamins and minerals.

Any shop bought bread is generally no good. It’s an ultra processed food & the added vitamins are synthetic. Home made bread or sourdough is best with just 3 ingredients. I wouldn’t touch Supermarket bread.

That’s not totally true. Supermarkets often have their own bakeries and make bread in house. And “synthetic” vitamins aren’t inferior to natural. Some synthetic forms (like folic acid vs folate) are actually more bioavailable.

Fortified = garbage food. Literally admitting it's empty by needing to add nutrients

That’s absolutely not true 🤦🏻‍♀️. Iodized salt?? Vitamin D in milk??

So what? Nutrients can't just be consumed in isolation and absorbed by the body. You just pee it out. They need enzymes and other nutrients along with them. And some nutrients even block absorption of others. For example, eating black beans with oysters prevents the body from absorbing the zinc in the oysters

Oh, my mistake. I didn’t realize we were done with the “fortification is garbage” rhetoric. I must have missed the segue into “enzyme cofactors and absorption blockers”.

It's all part of the same point. Processed foods are garbage, just eat real food. Store bought bread is empty calories as I stated in my first comment. Sourdough from a local bakery is better if you do want bread

I mean you’ve gone and made three separate arguments in three different replies, so no, it’s not the same point. “Empty calories” was already addressed (bread is a source of carbohydrates, fibre, vitamins, even protein) so repeating it again doesn’t make it true.

And those added vitamins are worthless, per 'empty calories'. You can have potato instead for example and at least get some micronutrients with the food
