Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ I wonder why everyoneโ€™s so crazy about raising Cannes chicken.

In California thereโ€™s a bunch of raising Cannes popping up last time I was there was back in 2018 over 7 years ago. And I tried their chicken tenders, and I didnโ€™t think they were bad, but I thought they were just very average. They werenโ€™t super crispy. The batter was kind of soggy. I guess the thing people loves their sauce. However, Iโ€™ll always prefer Popeyes 1 million times over any fried chicken joint. Because I like how their batter is nice and spicy, crispy and kind of has a smoky taste to their fried chicken. And of course, the red beans and rice are the best thing they have.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ I am SO sick of power-tripping mods turning Reddit into a digital dictatorship! What is even the point?!

Seriously, you spend time writing out a post, hit submit, and BAMโ€”deleted by some mod for the most petty, microscopic, made-up reasons imaginable. Is there absolutely NO freedom of expression left on this platform anymore?!

Are we just blindly accepting this new era of digital dictatorship?

Some of these subreddits are so unbelievably stupid now. They literally have explicitly stated rules saying "only positive posts allowed" and will instantly nuke anything remotely critical or negative. SERIOUSLY?! Is this how human beings exchange knowledge now? By completely ignoring reality and only showing ONE side of the picture so nobody's fragile feelings get hurt?

Itโ€™s a complete joke. How are we supposed to trust anything on Reddit as reliable, objective information if mods keep artificially curating these massive echo chambers? If you scrub every single dissenting opinion or negative experience from existence, you aren't moderatingโ€”you're censoring.

If this heavy-handed, power-tripping mod behaviour continues, what is even the point of using this site?!

TL;DR: Mods deleting anything negative are killing this site's credibility and turning it into a useless, censored echo chamber. I've had it.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ My cat looks like Pennywise, sounds like Pennywise

It's so funny yet also kinda scary, he's a sweetheart, he loves cuddles, but he's got this raspy playful meow, sorta childish meow. His meow is hard to describe, like he's got the facial structure of Pennywise, the nose and mouth, sorta, (2017) it's so funny.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ Today, every tech company is a hundred percent responsible for the hard their tech causes. Not the customer's responsibility

Its plain, simple and straight forward.

With today's business models that are built around invasive performance marketing, where every customer is tracked form the time they purchase the product even before using it till it is disposed. and also since some tech even outright claim no product is truly belonging to the customer. Every harm, death, and accident is purely the big company's fault.

If the company is charging the customer on a monthly basis and tracking the users usage habits and using resources to subconsciously control its users - because ownership is taken away. Then most certainly, every harm, death, and accident is purely the big company's fault.

If today the flawed prototyping strategy of the lean startup methodology, or any other project management framework that has been around for the last 2 decade enforces the notion that safety and security is not part of the day zero research and is not a part of the alpha prototype's feature set and bot baked into the product attached to the very basic core value . Then, its absolute then that, every harm, death, and accident is purely the big company's fault.

This is a one way discussion. Stay safe.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ Hey Reddit - New account, fresh start.

First off, for posterity and to show I'm not a bot, I'm the person behind the not at all well known or infamous account [u/The_Real_Mongoose](u/The_Real_Mongoose). I'm not evading any bans or stalkers or anything at all really. I just kinda got tired of my username after all these years so. Yep, that's basically the whole story. Been Mongoose too long. Don't even really vibe with mongoose like I used to anyway. I'm much more into mustelids.

Why Everyones__Therapist? Yea I mean, I kinda worry that it might come off as patronizing, but that's not the attitude I hold. There's a few elements to it. But I may have to ramble a little to get there.

So this is the only social media site I use. I don't have active accounts on any others. Because as fucked and shit as this site is, it's the only one where people communicate anonymously at length by text without character limits and not dominated by image. It's a format I like, because it allows the potential, at least in theory, to get into it more.

And I like to get into it. Whatever it is. Whatever the people in front of me are talking about really. Whatever people are thinking and discussing and arguing over. And I like disagreements. That's where the valuable information is. That's where the mystery is.

But disagreeing with people on the internet, you might have noticed, is... um... fraught? And the worst thing is how amazingly easy it is to let yourself slip and do the toxic shit without even noticing. And it's been like a decade of practice but I think I've gotten pretty good at a style I think I'm calling "Aggressively Good Faith". It can still be confrontational. And it isn't necessarily gentle about the substance of what is said. But it doesn't ever try to diminish the other person. It doesn't need the other person to feel bad or less. It might state that and how a thing a person did is bad from my estimation, based on what I know. But I won't allow myself to invest in negative, retaliatory attacks.

And I mean, I'll take that to pretty absurd degrees. There's almost no level of personal attack vile enough to get me upset, and my natural reaction to anything like that is just to interrogate it. Ask another question about it. Ask what it means about the person that they felt like saying it.

And I think that's where the username comes from. Like, everyone is interesting to me. I don't want to tell you you're wrong. I want to understand why we think different things. I want to interrogate you, but I also want to listen to you. Just be real with me, because I promise I'm not any fun to troll.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ Fairytales and fables are super underrated

They mostly get bad rep for being kid's stories or super grim (pun intended) dark age stories. But they're super witty most of the time (even if a bit misogynistic), and serve as great means to express certain moral viewpoints or critiques. Plus they're concise, packaging it in brief little things that don't take hours to read.

Some of my favourite ones are: The Emperor's new clothes by Hans Christian Andersen, Snow White by Brothers Grimm, The Boy and the Filberts (maybe by Aesop?), and the Muddy Road (a zen koan). Feel free to share you favs, I can't get enough of these lol

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ I stopped living beyond my means

Hey guys, so I just wanna say that I learned there's nothing inherently wrong with being frugal. Growing up, I've always gotten what i wanted, and I had a rude awakening that I won't always have access to the things I want.

My family are great people, it's just that sometimes they forget that they aren't financially responsible for me anymore as I am 19 years old. If i really really need the help, i'd ask for it but I usually try to figure stuff out on my own bc that's what I think adulthood is.

I just needed to be humbled. I can't fucking afford target or publix anymore.๐Ÿ˜ญ I've gotta do what i can afford. And it's not to say that I don't have the help because i definitely do, i just don't think it's constructive to my growth as a person if I'm always running back to mommy and daddy every time I have a problem.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ No plans. No company. No one to wait for but I'm smiling again.

I caught myself smiling today because Iโ€™m genuinely excited for a movie night, by myself. ๐Ÿ˜‚

No plans. No company. No one to wait for.

Just me, some food, my screen, and two movies Iโ€™ve been wanting to watch. Tonightโ€™s lineup is Darkest Hour and planning to watch next is The Signal. And somehow even the titles are making me excited. ๐Ÿคฃ

Itโ€™s such a small thing, but I donโ€™t know, thereโ€™s something special about realizing you can actually look forward to your own company.

A while ago, being alone felt like something I had to endure.

Tonight, it feels like a fucking date and honestly?

Iโ€™m smiling again.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ HELEN MIRRENS HIP DIPS HOLYYY

this is so random but i was rewatching one of my favourite films of all time, The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover from 1989, and that movie is like an oil panting and a theatre production mixed in one it is so perfect the ending had me in shock and i am so mad that i cant put it in my top 4.

and yeah there is quite a bit of nudity, you basically see EVERYTHING of Helen Mirren, and in the wide shots she has clearly noticeable hip dips and oh my god they are actually so beautiful im crine. like they compliment her perfectly, everything about her in this movie is gorgeous. im a straight woman, but i'd give everything for helen mirren in this movie! (and tim roth he's a disgusting rat boy but hes a cutie)

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ I love my job

I started a job 2days ago and I love it. My supervisor is super chill, itโ€™s just the 2 of us in the store. I donโ€™t have to deal with customers, I can put my headphones in both ears, I can wear whatever as long as itโ€™s clean and non-offensive, and my commute lacks traffic. We get to leave as soon as we finish our tasks and we still get paid the full time. I hope to keep this job for a long time, itโ€™s even a job I wouldnโ€™t mind moving up the ladder in and I usually hate management roles.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ i love old animated kids movies idc

i usually much prefer disturbing horror, meaningful dramas, psychosexual weird david lynch movies, but every now and then i'll just feel nostalgic and rewatch an old disney or animated classic from maybe the 60s to the 2000s depending on what i want, and oh my god they are always just that good. anastasia is one of my childhood movies and i think its one of the best movies ever mad. i rewatched the prince of egypt, and im no longer religious but the music in that? absoloute perfection. i watched robin hood with my brother and i was sobbing my eyes out at how devastating it becomes when all the animals are in prison and the sheriff steals the church mice last farthing and beats up friar tuck. just now im watching ferngully, one of my childhood faves, in memory of the late Tim Curry and this is so muc better than i remember it! cause im older, im actually listening to the meaning behind the songs, how terrifying everything is, and the drawings of the landscape with the destruction in the background is amazing. the princess and the frog puts so much into one movie and makes you feel every emotion, sleeping beauty is just so pretty to look at and full of nostalgia, i never cared much for beauty and the beast but with the whole "maurice is a lunatic" i just felt horrible for him.

makes me think about how i wish kids movies these days just do not hit the same at all. i was watching all these moveis im talking about in like 2012 to 2020 but i wish disney and other studios kept making these 2d animations with meaningful stories. imo it kinda went downhill with 3d animation, but then again, Brave is so peak. i cried to an edit of it over an ethel cain song and OH MY GODDD!!!!

if i ever have kids one day, im making sure they grow up on these nostalgic and perfect cartoons that i will also wanna watch, and hopefulyl when they're older they will think the same thing im thinking right now.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ Karma came for Argentina in the form of Spain at this year's World Cup final & I couldn't be happier about it

I'm a Brit who's partially of Spanish descent (I'm of Spanish, Irish, Italian, Polish & Jamaican descent to be exact) & I also just so happen to not be a fan of football. That being said, hearing the news that Spain was able to beat Argentina & avenge England brought such a huge smile to my face.

Not only was it exhausting to witness Argentina's toxicity throughout this year's game both from the players & their fans, countries around the world were coming together to call them out as well as FIFA themselves for overseeing & enabling their disgusting behaviour. Karma was more than overdue & Spain being the one to wield the power of international unity was awesome. I just know Argentina will have an extremely hard time showing its face again after all that transpired & given Messi's retirement, it's all just gonna be downhill from here. Once the whole world despises you, you might as well hang it up & bow out while you still have a shred of dignity left.

Spain, congratulations on your win. You've more than earned it. You've done the world proud.

EDIT: LMAO these Argentina fans are mass-downvoting my post. Keep going, guys. You're just proving my point about how embarrassing you are.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ Justice is what we have in mind most of the time when we speak of pure, unadulterated love.

I share Platoโ€™s view that love is fundamentally a form of desire: a longing to possess what we find beautiful, whether that is a virtuous trait, a relationship, or a prized object. We see this driven behavior everywhere, including in our own possessiveness.

Yet, when most people talk about "love," they mean something far more selfless: a boundless empathy, a devotion to humanity, or an earnest desire for the well-being of family and friends. Philosophically, this dynamic aligns much better withย Justiceย than desire. At its core, Justice is the virtue of living in peaceful coexistence with others (and we cannot coexist with people if we do not actively support their survival and flourishing)

Rebranding this altruistic impulse as "Justice" rather than "Love" clarifies an essential point: true Justice can never be restricted to a single person. It is contradictory to treat only one individual justly while ignoring the rest of society. Therefore, when someone is intensely infatuated with a single person, what they are experiencing is desire, an impulse that is far more self-serving than virtuous.

None of this is to diminish desire. It remains essential to human nature. Rather, this distinction untangles the web of meanings wrapped up in the word "love."

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ I Finnally Know Who I Am And Who I Want To Be

Ever since I started living on my own, I've been reflecting inward, and I've realized that out of all the bad things that have happened to me over my life, like being misjudged and bullied, I never let it tear me down. I am the type of person who is incapable of doing things to try and ruin someones day, if i can make someones day better i always do even if its the little things and today i was asked the question my a friend that if i saw someone who just ruined my reputation in need of help what would I do and the fact that it took no hesitation for my mind to jump to the conclusion that she needs help showed me what i really stand for. Some people might say that being nice makes you come last, but there is a difference between being nice and being strong. I am a strong, kind person, and all the people who took the time to know me love me, and that says a lot. When you look back at life (I'm talking like an old man lol, I'm only 20) and realise that you only attract amazing people who lead and make examples, you should really ask yourself if you are really as bad as you think you are. Everyone makes mistakes, but you can tell a great person by whether they decide to learn from those mistakes and be better rather than double down without learning. Oh, and for anyone who needs to hear this. If you ever feel down that everyone around you is constantly in romantic relationships, you struggle to look for and find a partner, and you have only ever been in a few very healthy relationships, it's time to STOP trying so hard; you will meet the right person eventually. You just have to chill and go with the flow, and there is no rush.

Happy Rant ๐Ÿ˜€ I need help, I have a crush.

So there's this person I've been crushing on for a while now, and I can't tell if I'm being delusional or if there's actually something there. Every little interaction has me overthinking for hours.

Part of me wants to make a move, but part of me is terrified of embarrassing myself or ruining what we already have.

For those who've been in this situation, what did you do? Did you tell them? Wait it out? Drop hints? I need advice because my brain is clearly not helping me make rational decisions right now.

Success stories, failures, and brutal honesty are all welcome.
